James A. 'Jim' Swezey III

James A. ‘Jim’ Swezey III, 61, of Doniphan died Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Father Charles Torpey will officiate.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at St. Leo’s; Vigil Service to follow. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Jim was born icon September 15, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri; the son of James A. Jr. and Bettye ( Davis) Swezey.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy; sons, James Swezey IV and Elliot Swezey, both of Doniphan; daughters, Elizabeth Swezey of Phoenix, AZ and Theresa Swezey of Omaha; his mother, Bettye Swezey of Arcadia, KS; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Betsy Swezey of Girard, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Danny Arck of Pittsburg, KS; sister Patti Sadler of Olathe, KS; and mother-in-law Gertrude Foster of Valentine, NE.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Jim grew up in Arcadia, Kansas. He graduated from Northeast High School in Arma, KS and from Mid- Plains Community College in North Platte. He met and married his wife, Nancy Foster, in Kansas City; they married on February 8, 1974. They would have celebrated their 38 th Anniversary this February.

Jim was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad in the Telecommunications Department.

He was a member of St. Leo’s Parish, and a member of Servants of the Father’s Love Prayer Group and Music Ministry. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar; hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, and his gentle smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

Paul L. Swift

Paul L. Swift, 88, of Omaha, died Sunday, March 4 th at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in All Faiths Chapel of the Grand Island Veterans Home. The Chaplain Bill Nore will officiate. To honor Mr. Swift’s wishes cremation has been chosen.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mr. Swift was born icon February 16, 1924 in Sioux City, IA the son of William and Amy (Jones) Swift.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Emma; daughters, Sally Swift of Grand Island, Stephanie Swift and Sandra Krokaugger, both of Salt lake City, UT; and a sister Dorothy Lanning of Omaha.

Those also left to cherish his memory are one grandchild, Samuel Krokaugger of Salt Lake City and one great grandchild, Kiana Krokaugger.

His parents and brother, Walter Swift welcomed him into heaven.

Paul grew up in Omaha where he received his education from Omaha Technical High School. He joined the United States Army serving from March of 1943 to December of 1945. Paul served during World War II, in the Europe conflict in the 23 rd Armored Division.

He was united in marriage to Emma Hoseley on January 27, 1966 in Omaha, NE. Paul loved to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, especially car trips.

Memorials are suggested to the VFW Club.

(Bob) Robert John Tesmer

(Bob) Robert John Tesmer, 68 of Grand Island died Sunday September 23, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center after a long struggle with many health issues.

Celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Third City Christian Church in Grand Island. Reverend Scott Jones will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Cremation will take place following the visitation.

Mr. Tesmer was born icon Aug, 31, 1944 at Loup City, Nebraska the son of Leopold and Florence (Dilla) Tesmer.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Eileen; children and their spouses, Shelly and Dave Daily of Kearney, Tammy and Matt Wagner of York, Mark Tesmer of Grand Island and Jill and Raymond Bernal of Grand Island; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Debby Tesmer of Grand Island and Kenny and Robin Tesmer of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Ann Daily, Liz Daily, Keely Wagner, Kirsten Wagner, Ryan Bernal, Noah Bernal, Micah Bernal and Brody Bernal. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Bob was raised in Loup City and spent a few years in California. His family returned to Grand Island for his high school years where he graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic, class of 1962. In 1963 he signed with the Kansas City A’s to play baseball.

He was united in marriage to Eileen Wingert on April 24, 1965. Bob worked many years for Berkeley Pump and later with his brother Kenny, owned and operated Platte River Pump and Supply. After selling the business he worked for several years for Ream’s Sprinkler Supply Company.

Bob played town team baseball and fast pitch softball for several years. He has spent his last several years following his son in Special Olympics and his grandchildren with sports, recitals and concerts. He is a member of the Platt-Duetsche. His memory will be treasured by his family and friends and through those that have received the gift of life through his tissue donation.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Bob.

Patty L. Thayer

Patty L. Thayer, 60 of Grand Island, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at her home.

Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo and Rick Davison will officiate.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

Ms. Thayer was born icon August 2, 1951 to Annabelle (Jankovitz) and Richard Thayer.

Survivors include sisters and their spouses of Grand Island, Connie and Jim Welch, Vicki and Rick Davison, Joanna and Paul Leetch, Nancy Davis, Carrie and Justin Burmeister, Tina and Todd Minor of Tennessee, Rhonda Davis of Colorado; brothers of Grand Island, Gene Davis and Terrie Thomas and a brother Carl and his wife Jodi Davis of Lincoln.

Patty is also survived by her long time friend and partner in life, Joyce Prunty.

Other survivors are Joyce’s family including, Gloria, Danny and Katie Prunty; grandchildren, Cody and Jacob Prunty whom she loved very much; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; cousins, aunts and uncles and her loving little dog, Febee.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Annabelle and son, Josh Prunty.

Dallas Eugene Timmons

Dallas Eugene Timmons, 72 of Grand Island died Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center with his family by his side.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Reverend Michael Reiners will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hordville Cemetery with military honors by the United States Air Force.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled through All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island.

Mr. Timmons was born icon March 20, 1940 at home in Hordville, NE the son of Ernest and Irma (Ortegren) Timmons.

Survivors include daughter, Betsy Bradley and her children, Lauren and Michael Bradley of Salt Lake City, Utah; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Zaina Timmons and their children, Rachel and Andrew Mussa of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Larry Seney and their children, Eric, Lisa, Sophie Blase and Taylor Scott, Adam and Amber Blase all of Grand Island; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Miriam Timmons and their children, Kaitlin and Michael Gogan, Nathan Timmons, and Jordyn and Joslyn Timmons of St. Paul, NE and brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Sandy Timmons of Hordville.

He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and many wonderful friends. His parents and sister, Jerene Theetge preceded him in death.

Dallas was raised in Hordville graduating from High School, class of 1957. He entered the United States Air Force serving from 1958 to 1966. He was united in marriage to Betty Ann Brown on December 31, 1959. They were married for 40 years. They lived in Minnesota, Germany, Texas, and Nevada settling in Hordville in 1967. Betty Ann died January 1, 2011.

Dallas was a truck driver owning a trucking company and was a feedlot manager. He built and founded Bunker Hill Cattle Company in 1991 until retiring in 2011.

He was a member of the Saddle Club, Platte Deutsche and a 40 year member of the American Legion.

Memorials are suggested to Central Nebraska Humane Society or American Legion in St. Paul, NE.

Evelyn Rose Treptow

Evelyn Rose Treptow, 83 of Grand Island, died Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center.

There will be a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the columbarium courtyard at Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mrs. Treptow was born icon September 19, 1928 at Burwell, NE the daughter of Albert and Theresa (Reiter) Treptow.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Robin and Greg Hirsch of Gothenburg and Roxann Ellison of Grand Island.

Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Christopher and Suzanne Ellison of Austin, TX, Cameron and Christina Ellison of Omaha, Chelsea and Matthew Boring of Hampton, Trenton and Kristi Hovie of Omaha and Tracy Hovie of Gothenburg and great-grandchildren, Talan, Beck, Brody and Ava.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters.

Evelyn was raised in Burwell and Comstock having graduated from Comstock High School. She made her home in Comstock, Gothenburg, Tucson, Arizona and later Grand Island.

She worked in the banking industry most of her career. In recent years she began painting and became a wonderful skilled artist. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, her flowers and bird watching. She was a wonderful cook and she played the piano by ear. She loved her grandchildren and the time spent with them.

Memorials are suggested to HOPE Harbor.

Sharon K. (Leak) Truitt

Sharon K. (Leak) Truitt, 65 of Grand Island died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Warriner will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Ms. Truitt was born icon February 25, 1947 at Omaha the daughter of Sidney and Lillian (Knott) Leak.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gary and Angela Orcutt of Lincoln, Sherry and Bryan Holmes of Grand Island, Bobbi Jo and Mario Moreno of Lincoln, Christopher and Amy Orcutt of Grand Island, Jay and Pattie Orcutt of Ceresco and Joseph Orcutt of Cape May, NJ and two brothers, Lyle L. (Buster) Leak of Grand Island and Roger Leak of Lincoln.

Those also left to cherish her memory are fifteen grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Sharon was raised and received her education in Grand Island and Lincoln. She was united in marriage to Gerald Orcutt, Sr. on July 23, 1966. Later she married Charles Truitt on April 3, 1999. She lived most of her adult life in Grand Island where she worked for St. Francis Medical Center as a switchboard operator. She retired in 2002 due to ill health.

Sharon enjoyed photography, scrap booking, arts and crafts. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended Abundant Life Christian Center.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Sharon
