Meta Beckman
Kearney resident, 98

KEARNEY — Meta S. Beckman, 98, of Kearney died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. North P. Sherrill Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and before services Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

She was born icon May 23, 1902, in Winchester, Fayette County, Texas, to A. L. and Augusta (Trahms) Gresens. She grew up in Arapahoe, and in 1920, the family moved to Nemaha County.

On Feb. 4, 1923, she married Alfred H. Beckman in Auburn. They farmed for a short time in Nemaha County and them moved to Minnesota, where they farmed until 1960. They moved to Kearney in 1974. Her husband died in 1996. She was a resident of Mother Hull Home for four years.

She was a member of the church.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth of Alexandria, Minn., and L. James of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Beverly Pulver of Kearney; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and a great-grandson.

Phyllis Fuller
Lexington resident, 84

LEXINGTON — Phyllis J. (Nisley) Fuller, 84, of Lexington died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with the Rev. Floyd H. Starr officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

A memorial has been established in her name.

Hans Aeppel
Loup City resident, 77

LOUP CITY — Hans Heinrich Albert Aeppel, 77, of Loup City died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Memorial services will be at a later date. Private family burial of cremains was today at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Memorials are suggested to Rose Lane Home or Sherman County Foundation.

Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.

He was born icon Aug. 2, 1923, at Flensburg, Germany, to Christian and Christine (Brodersen) Aeppel. He received his education in Germany and served with the German Air Force during World War II. He spent almost five years in a Russian prisoner of war camp.

On July 25, 1950, he married Gertrud D. "Trudie" Klempien in Flensburg, and they had three sons. They immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Loup City. In 1967, they moved to Florida until retiring and then returned to Loup City. He became a resident of Rose Lane Home in 1999.

He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City.

Survivors include his wife; and family.

Neil Drew
Kearney resident, 73

KEARNEY — Neil L. Drew, 73, of 40 10th Ave. died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. Harold Gronstal officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and before services Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Fund.

He was born icon Aug. 20, 1927, near Mascot to Louis and Dora (Hinze) Drew. He graduated from Mascot High School in 1945 and then farmed with his brother in the Axtell/Riverdale area. He moved to Kearney in 1952.

On Aug. 9, 1953, he married LaRae Kirwan. He was a partner in Kearney Building Movers for 33 years until retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the church and Kearney Eagles. He enjoyed spending time at his trailer at Republican City and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Patricia Wagoner of Grand Island, Linda Helmick of Lincoln, Joan Bumbulsky of Woodbridge, Va., and Stacie Pennington of Columbus AFB, Miss.; mother, Dora Mundell of Kearney; brothers, Kenneth of Hastings, Max of Kearney and Glen of Salt Lake City; sisters, Elaine Pape of Atlanta and Cheryl Vannier of Auburn, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, one son, stepfather and a stepgranddaughter.

Raymond Barth
Cozad resident, 82

COZAD — Raymond Clifford Barth, 82, of Cozad died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hays Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Wittrock officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

He was born icon Sept. 4, 1919, in Rushville to William and Florence (Holtgren) Barth. He graduated from Rushville High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.

On Dec. 6, 1957, he married Delores Cornett in Chadron. His wife died Dec. 16, 1995.

He farmed and worked as a feedlot manager. He retired in 1992.

Survivors include his son, Sean of Gordon; daughters, Vicki of North Platte and Sharon of Denver; sisters, Inez Fuchser and Eunice Britt, both of Rushville, and Phyllis Guy of Seattle; and several grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and an infant son.

Gerald Finney
Broken Bow resident, 80

BROKEN BOW — Gerald E. Finney, 80, of Broken Bow died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Iverson Memorial Funeral Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Jim Stark officiating. Burial will be at Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at the chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Broken Bow.

Mario Antillon
Kearney resident, 34

KEARNEY — Mario "Marzz" Antillon, 34, of 1320 E. 31st St. died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Kearney.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and before services Thursday at the church. Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

William Glendy
Oconto resident, 81

OCONTO — William L. Glendy, 81, of Oconto died Friday, April 5, 2002, at his home near Oconto.

Arrangements are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Robert Winter
Lexington resident, 82

LEXINGTON — Robert Carl Winter, 82, of Lexington died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Don Buhrman officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at the parish cemetery in Lexington.

Wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church trust fund or the Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

He was born icon June 1, 1918, at Cozad to Carl and Clara (Buchholz) Winter. He attended rural school near Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School in 1936. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, then returned to the area.

On Feb. 4, 1946, he married Madeline Cooney in Overton. They farmed in the area, and in 1956, they moved to his family's farm. Because of poor health, they moved to Lexington in 1999.

He was a member of the church, the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was active in the Hillside Spark Plugs 4-H group. He enjoyed metal and woodworking, gardening, and duck hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards with the same group of friends for 50 years.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Bob of Lake Elmo, Minn., and Bernie of Papillion; sister, Esther Jensen of Cozad; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and two sisters.

Edith Scott
Broken Bow resident, 92

BROKEN BOW — Edith Pearl Scott, 92, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Mortuary Chapel in Broken Bow with LeRoy Sanford and Alfred Broady officiating. Burial will be at Dry Valley Cemetery north of Ansley.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

She was born icon May 22, 1908, at Duff to David D. and Pearl (Ogden) James.

On Feb. 5, 1937, she married Robert P. Scott at Burwell. They farmed in several various communities and lived several years northwest of Sargent. They later moved near Kellerton, Iowa, and returned to Broken Bow in 1988. Her husband died June 14, 2000.

Survivors include her nephew, Richard James of Issaquah, Wash.; niece, Judy Gruber of Sargent; brother-in-law, Samuel Scott of Broken Bow; and sisters-in-law, Guyneth Orvis of Broken Bow and Avis Guggenmos of Ogallala and Esther Scott of Broken Bow.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
