Lucille Quinn
Beaver City resident, 93
BEAVER CITY — E. Lucille Quinn, 93, of Beaver City died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at Beaver City Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Wilmer Serverns officiating. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and before services Thursday at the church.
She was born
Jan. 31, 1908, in Clay City, Ill., to Thomas and Laura (Campbell) Wells. She grew up near Beaver City and graduated from Beaver City High School in 1926. She attended Kearney State Teachers College in 1930. She taught school in Wauneta, Holbrook and Beaver City.
On Dec. 8, 1928, she married Emery Quinn in Norton, Kan. They moved to Beaver City in 1959 and farmed southwest of town. He died in 1976. She worked as a cook at the Mayo and Herren Nursing Home and at the Beaver City Manor from 1967 to 1970. She worked at a local cafe for several years and then as a nurses aide at Beaver City Manor. She retired in 1983. She moved to the manor three years ago.
Her husband died on June 26, 1976.
She was a member of the church and several extension clubs.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanine Eiberger of St. Paul; foster daughter, Donna Meidinger of Kearney; sister, Dorothy LaCrois of Willis, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters.
Rose Miller
Kearney resident, 86
KEARNEY — Rose M. Miller, 86, of 5616 Fourth Ave. died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today (Saturday) at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Revs. Mike McDonald and Greg Mast officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be until service time at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church, Kids Church at Spirit of Life Open Bible Church in Kearney or the Salvation Army.
She was born
March 30, 1915, on a farm north of Shelton to Louis and Anna (Yendra) Klinkacek. She attended rural schools in the Shelton area.
On Nov. 2, 1938, she married Harold Miller. They lived in Shelton, Cozad, Iowa, Montana, Dannebrog and Grand Island until moving to California in 1955. They moved to Kearney in the late 1960s and farmed southeast of town until they retired. Her husband died Feb. 3, 1980.
She was a member of the church.
Survivors include daughters, Vangie Head of Kearney, Jeanne Christensen of Haviland, Kan., and Vicki Gilliland of Ravenna; brother, Louis Klinkacek; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Forrest Saum
Elm Creek resident, 80
ELM CREEK — Forrest L. Saum, 80, of Elm Creek died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at his home in Elm Creek.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney with the Rev. C.J. Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell with military rites graveside by the North Platte Veterans Group.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and before services Wednesday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Police Department in care of the Kearney Community Foundation.
Donald Peden
Cozad resident, 64
COZAD — Donald Dean Peden, 64, of Cozad died Friday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Cozad.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Berean Fundamental Church in Cozad with the Revs. Roger Daum and Paul Harkness officiating. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery near Cozad.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
He was born
Jan. 8, 1938, in Cozad to Virgil and Sophie (Wieland) Peden. He attended school in Cozad.
He married Kay Moore. They made their home in rural Cozad. Following a divorce, he married Joanne Malcom. They made their home near Oconto and north of Cozad before moving to Cozad in 1990.
He worked in the hay mills and was employed at Monroe Auto Equipment Co. for 21 years until he retired in 1988. He enjoyed raising hogs.
He was a member of the church and baby-sat for mothers of preschool children at the church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Kelly of Gothenburg, John of Cozad and Dustin of Mitchell; daughters, Mary Sabin of Gothenburg and Heather Epp of Cozad; sisters, Doris Vogt, Phyllis Huber and Janice Gibbins, all of Cozad and Sandy Schnacker of Elwood; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and two infant grandsons.
Ward Sinsel
Former Minden resident, 65
BOISE, Idaho — Ward Sinsel, 65, of Boise, formerly of Minden, Neb., died of cancer, Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at his home.
Graveside services will be today (Saturday) at Terrace Memorial Gardens in Boise with the Rev. Greg Reider officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Mountain States Tumor Institute, St. Luke's Hospice of Boise or the donor's choice.
He was born
March 28, 1937, in Minden to John and Martha (Kauffelt) Sinsel. He was raised on the family farm.
In his early 20s, he moved to Idaho. In August 1959, he married Alice Barnett. He sold and repaired sewing machines and small engines and retired in Boise in 1977 because of a disability. He served as a lobbyist for manufactured home owners and on senior issues.
He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Jeff and Greg, both of Boise, and Terry of Nampa; brothers, Arden of Minden and Lenis of Burley; sister, Lois Beck of Minden; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Duane Richards
Kearney resident, 76
KEARNEY — Duane L. Richards, 76, of 1715 Ave. H died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Williamsburg Cemetery south of Elm Creek with the Rev. Bob Neben officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney or the Nebraska Children's Home.
O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home of Kearney and Elm Creek is in charge of arrangements.
Chester Wentz
Kearney resident, 79
KEARNEY — Chester L. Wentz, 79, of Kearney died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Mount Carmel Hone in Kearney.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Salvation Army Chapel in Kearney with Capt. Dale Hixenbaugh officiating. Burial, with military rites by VFW Post 759 and the Kearney National Guard Unit, will be at Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
He was born
March 7, 1921, in Alma to Edward and Ida (Duncan) Wentz. He attended school in Alma and served with the U.S. Army in France during World War II. Following his discharge, he worked on farms in the area.
On May 10, 1958, he married Shirley Mowry. He worked for the city of Kearney's sanitation department until retiring.
He enjoyed walking and playing bingo.
Survivors include his daughters, Keitha Beck, Friend, and LaVeta Journey, Kearney; brother, Bacil, Kearney; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son, four brothers, one sister and one step-brother.
Marjorie Snodgrass
Kearney resident, 73
KEARNEY — Marjorie I. Snodgrass, 73, of 1321 Seventh Avenue died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Sutter Community Hospital in Tracy, Calif.
Arrangements are pending at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney.
Steven Sinsel
Minden resident, 45
MINDEN — Steven G. Sinsel, 45, of Minden died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery northwest of Minden.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
He was born
July 10, 1955, in Kearney County to Clarence and Millie (Jepsen) Sinsel. He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1973. He worked in Kearney for a number of years and for the past 10 years he farmed the family farm.
He was a member of the church.
Survivors include his parents; brothers Ronald of Minden and Loren of Lexington; and nephews and nieces.
