CALLAWAY - Veda Fern Zoerb, 84, of Callaway died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Callaway Good Samaritan Center in Callaway.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Callaway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Urbach officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
She was born
Jan. 14, 1919, in Logan County to Lewis and Verga (Walker) Nansel.
She graduated from Callaway High School in 1937.
On May 4, 1939, she married Charles Zoerb in Pine Canyon near Callaway.
They farmed in the area.
Her husband died Dec. 16, 2001.
She was a member of the church for more than 40 years and was a member of the Lioness Club, TOPS and an extension club.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and ceramics.
Survivors include her sons, Rickie of Denver and Ronnie of Littleton, Colo.; daughters, Rhonda Adler of Windsor, Colo., and Reita Anderson of Kearney; brother, Fay Nansel of Redman, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Clarese Trook
Former Kearney area resident, 86
LINCOLN - Clarese Lucille Trook, 86, of Wahoo, formerly of the Kearney, Gibbon and Ravenna area, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Lincoln.
Services will be private.
There will be no visitation; the body has been cremated.
Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born
July 29, 1917, in Ceresco to Elmer and Dorothy (Benting) Cederdahl.
She married Derrill Trook. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet Grabenstein of Lincoln and Daryln Hansen of Wahoo; sister, Barbara Powell of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Fern Yearka
Former Wilcox resident, 81
HOLDREGE - Fern Yearka, 81, of Holdrege died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Holdrege Memorial Homes.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Chapel in Wilcox with Chaplain Jean Clayton and the Rev. Kim Stover officiating. Burial will be at the Wilcox Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born
Jan. 26, 1923, north of Lenora, Kan., to Perry and Maude (Bartels) Livingood.
On Sept. 27, 1944, she married Ivan E. Edgett in Norton. They were later divorced.
On Sept. 15, 1948, she married Richard Gleason in McCook. They were later divorced.
On March 8, 1955, she married Harold Yearka in Kearney. He died on Jan. 31, 1999.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd Edgett of Norton; daughter Linda Fritz of Hildreth; brother Neil Livingood of Golden, Colo.
Additional survivors include her daughter-in-law, Pamela Edgett of Norton; son-in-law Calvin Fritz of Hildreth; granddaughters Stacie Minson and her husband, Douglas, of WaKeeney, Kan., Amaryah Fritz and Carina Fritz, both of Hildreth; great-grandson Carter Minson of WaKeeney; and sister-in-law Mary "Betty" Yearka of Seattle.
She attended Rural School District 74 southeast of Lenora, three years of high school at Lenora and her senior year at Norton, where she graduated with the class of 1942. Following high school, she worked as a farmhand and housekeeper, at a packing plant, and at the Tuberculosis Sanatorium, all in Norton.
After her first marriage she lived in Edmond, Kan., until 1946, when she moved to Norton. She and her third husband lived on the Walter Goedeken farmstead in Harlan County until they moved to the Keller farmstead in 1958. They moved to the Hoesch farmstead near Huntley in 1975, and to Wilcox in 1976. They moved to the Methodist Memorial Homes March 14, 1996.
She was a member of the Harness Hustlers Driving Club of Ayr; the Osterbuhr, Evers, Carter Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 6016 of Hildreth; the Wilcox Ladies Chamber of Commerce; the Wilcox Birthday Club; the United Methodist Women of Huntley; and the Harlan County K.K. Extension Club of Alma.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lynn, on July 4, 1976; her father in 1962; her mother on Dec. 19, 1987; younger brother Wayne Livingood in June 1996; brothers-in-law Charles and his wife, Sarah "Reenie," Francis "Fritz" and Fay; sisters-in-law, Wauneta McMaines and her husband, Wilbur, and Vera Hord and her husband, Charles.
Lloyd Wilshusen
Ex-Amherst, 56
NEW YORK - Lloyd A. Wilshusen, 56, of Massapequa Park Long Island, N.Y., formerly of Amherst, Neb., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in New York.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Cemetery north of Amherst with the Rev. Dean Pofahl officiating. Military rites will be provided by Miller American Legion Post 351.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney, Neb.
He was born
May 26, 1946, in Kearney, to Orville and Melva (Jones) Wilshusen. He grew up in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High school in 1964.
He was a Vietnam War veteran. He entered the U.S. Army in 1965 and served until 1967.
He returned to the Amherst area and worked for Western Electric.
In 1970, he moved to the New York City area where he owned and operated the Lakewood Florist Shop in Seaford Long Island.
He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seaford.
Survivors include his brother, Rodney of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alberto Rodriguez-Sanchez
Lexington resident, 74
LEXINGTON - Alberto Rodriguez-Sanchez, 74, of Lexington died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Lexington.
There will be no visitation.
He was born
Nov. 21, 1928, in Opatoro, Honduras, to Ferufino Rodriguez and Eusevia Sanchez.
He moved to Lexington in 1993.
On April 3, 1998, he married Analucia Estrada in Lexington.
He worked at IBP.
He enjoyed reading and writing, especially writing about his family and its history.
Survivors include his wife; stepson, William Dimas of Lexington; stepdaughter, Ana Dimas of Lexington; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Josephine Wetzig
Kearney resident, 86
KEARNEY - Josephine S. (Shada) Wetzig, 86, of Kearney died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. George Orthodox Church with the Rev. Paul Hodge officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 today at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and from 10 to service time Wednesday at the church. Trisagion prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
She was born
May 18, 1918, in Kearney to John and Helen (Karam) Shada.
On Oct. 16, 1947, she married William Wetzig in Chicago. He died March 26, 1987.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Shada Sr. of Lincoln; daughter, Sandra Ruhter of Summerhaven Lake; brothers, Tony Shada, Leo Shada and Vic Shada, all of Kearney; sisters, Victoria Applegarth of Kearney, Norma Shada of Grand Island and Maxine Grever of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
She attended school in Kearney. She was a lifetime resident of Kearney and was employed at Swift and Co. for 18 years, at DeKalb and then at Baldwin Manufacturing Co. from 1981 until she retired in 1986.
She was a member of St. George Orthodox Church. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Memorials are suggested to St. George Orthodox Church.
Arden Ritchie
Seward resident, 74
SEWARD - Arden G. Ritchie, 74, of Seward died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, in Seward.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Goehner United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gwen Hurst Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Seward Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 8:30 tonight at Wood-Zabka Funeral Home in Seward, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
He was born
Nov. 8, 1929.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Seward; sons, Terry of Riverdale, David of Seward and James of Kearney; daughter, Susan Adams of Eagle, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
