Lucille E. Heckman

89, Lincoln, died Monday (3/29/04). Born (10/3/14) in Clatonia, NE to J. Edward and Elva (Jones) McCormack. Clatonia High School graduate 1933, attended UNL, taught rural school one year, 4 years Cortland Elementary School, later substitute teacher in Lincoln. married Leland L. Heckman on August 26, 1941. 50 yr. member First-Plymouth Congregational Church, taught Sunday School for a number of years, served on various Church boards. Past President P.E.O. Chapter K, Outlook Club, Circle One at First Plymouth, Lincoln resident since 1946.

Visitation: Thursday 12 – 5:00 pm at Roper and Sons Funeral Services, 4300 ‘O’ St.

Service: Celebration of Life Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday (4/2/04), at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 2000 ‘D’ St., with The Rev. Dr. Otis Young.

Marjorie E. King

84, widow of Laverne, of Lincoln, died Friday (8/6/04) in Milford. Born Hamburg, IA (5/8/20) to Arthur & Bessie (Robinson) McAdams. Retired from State Farm Insurance. Charter member of Northeast Community United Church of Christ, and member of Hidden Valley Golf Club.

Service: Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (8/10/04) at Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 'O' St., with reception immediately following service.

William Laurie Porter

97, was born icon in Wenatchee, Washington on September 12, 1906, the son of Charles Fremont and Anna Murray Porter. He attended schools there and graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1929. Post-graduate studies took him to Columbia University School of Business in the New York City where he specialized in Banking and Finance. He went into business in the New York area and was associated with the Kinney Shoe Company from 1931 to 1971. He was President of Kinport Corporation in Lincoln, Nebraska and Board Chairman of the Tilden Bank in Tilden, Nebraska.

Visitation: No visitation; cremation.

Service: Memorial Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, (8/10/04) at First Plymouth Chapel, 2000 ‘D’ St., with The Rev. Dr. Otis Young, officiating

Memorials: Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Porter Foundation or Madonna Foundation - Katherine Anne ‘Kit’ Scott Therapeutic Learning Center; or The Capital Humane Society; or Lincoln Children's Museum.

During World War II, Mr. Porter served in the Army from 1941 to 1946, in the Armored Division of the Armed Forces and in the Military Government of South Korea, with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

He was married to the former Anne Stuart Kinder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kinder in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 23, 1956. The Porters maintained residences in Smoke Rise, New Jersey and in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mr. Porter was President of the Smoke Rise Club in 1967-68, and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. The Military Order of World Wars, The Retired Officer’s Association, The American Legion, The Metropolitan Opera National Council Executive Committee, The Metropolitan Opera Association, The Lincoln Country Club, The University Club of Lincoln, The New York Athletic Club, The New York Yacht Club, Rockaway River Country Club of New Jersey, North Fork Country Club and the Orient Yacht Club of Long Island, New York.

His family includes a daughter, Mrs. Robert F. Jennings of Morrison, Colorado; grandchildren, Robert E. Scott and William D. and Tracy S. Scott all of Lincoln; step-grandchildren, Lacey Jennings of Littleton, CO., Bob and Lisa Brinker of Castle Rock, CO., Robert B. and Kellye Jennings of McLean, VA; great-grandchildren, Riley Katherine Scott and Avery Nicole Scott of Lincoln, Zachary Tyler Brinker and Lily Katherine Brinker of Castle Rock, CO.; nephew, Charles A. Porter, Jr. of Minnetrista, MN. Preceded in death by wife, Anne Stuart Kinder Porter, parents, granddaughter, Katherine Anne Scott, sister, Dorothy Porter Isom, brother, Charles A. Porter.

A.D. Keller

A.D. Keller, 93, Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday (1-21-09). Born (7-10-15) in a sod house in Cherry County, Nebraska to David Clark and Mary Agnes (Poston) Keller. He grew up in Cherry County near Ashby, Nebraska and received his education in rural country elementary school and graduated from Hyannis High School in 1934. He was united in marriage to Elsie Dille on (11-10-38) in Alliance, Nebraska. Afterwhich the couple lived in Western Cherry County where he was a cattle rancher. In 1954, the couple moved to Elsmere, Nebraska, where they remained for eight years. In 1962, they moved to Atkinson, Nebraska, where they lived until 1975. In 1975, they sold everything and traveled for five years in a motor home. In 1981, they settled in Burwell. They spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, and summers in Burwell. They moved to Grand Island in October of 1998. He was a member of the Elks Club and enjoyed traveling.

Visitation: No visitation/cremation.

Service: Saturday, (1-31-09) at 10:30 a.m. MST at the Church of the Sandhills in Hyannis, Nebraska.

Cemetery: Inurnment will be in the Hyannis Cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Hyannis Cemetery.

Survivors include daughter: Janeth Leymaster, Lincoln; son-in-law: Larry Pfeiffer, Burwell; daughter-in-law: Jeanne Keller, Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 13 great grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; 1 step-great great grandchild. Mary had a career in media advertising in California and Oklahoma. Mary is lovingly remembered by her family, husband: David G.
