Phillip Beck
CENTRAL CITY -- Phillip Leslie Beck, 67, of Central City, died at his home on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Richard Fairbanks will officiate. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery at Pierce Chapel near Clarks.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Beck was born
Dec. 14, 1931, to Raymond W. and Ruth A. (Wolfe) Beck near Clarks. He attended school in Clarks and Central City. After completing his education, he farmed and in August of 1952, he entered the United States Army.
While in the service he received the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Mr. Beck was discharged on Aug. 4, 1954.
He married Rose Ann Jilg on Nov. 11, 1954, in Clarks. They farmed in the Clarks area for several years. Mr. Beck operated heavy equipment for Merrick County. He also worked at the Ordinance Plant and owned and operated Beck's Bar in St. Paul from 1968 to 1972.
He lived in Hastings for several years and worked for Adams County, Juniata Feed Yard and Vontz Construction. After his retirement, he enjoyed helping his brothers with their farming duties.
Mr. Beck was a member of the Clarks VFW and the Central City American Legion Post No. 6. He was raised in the Methodist faith. He enjoyed horses and dancing.
Survivors include six daughters, Anita (Mrs. Jim) Matejka of Oakland, Iowa, Barbara (Mrs. Terry) Nielsen and Ida Beck of St. Libory and Cecilia (Mrs. Darrel) Gangwish, Donna (Mrs. Randy) Hartzell and Gwen (Mrs. Ron) Erickson of Juniata; two sons, Francis Beck and Howard Beck of St. Paul; four brothers, Dale of Silver Creek, Roger of Central City and Deryel and Robert of Clarks; his former wife, Rose Irvine of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son and an infant daughter; one grandson; one brother, Wes Beck and one sister, Doris Neel.
DeForest Jones
PRIMROSE -- DeForest "Frosty" Jones, 79, of Primrose, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church at Primrose. The Rev. Mary Avidano will officiate. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery at Primrose. Masonic services will be conducted by Cresant Masonic Lodge No. 143 of Primrose.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Jones was born
Dec. 10, 1919, at Cairo. He received his elementary education at rural schools in the Bartlett area, and attended Bartlett High School.
He married Marion Hansen on May 16, 1945, at Primrose at the Tom and Ethelyn McBride home. They lived and farmed in different areas east of Primrose. They moved into Primrose in 1964. He began working as the janitor at Primrose Public Schools in 1965. He worked at the school for 17 years until it closed. In 1967 he started up Jones Insurance Company and owned and operated the business until March 1, 1985.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Primrose. He was also a 54-year member of Cresant Masonic Lodge No. 143 of Primrose, where he served as Worshipful Master and in other lodge positions.
Survivors include his wife, Marion of Primrose.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy and a baby sister, Margirette.
Fae McElvain
PALMER -- Fae McElvain, 93, of Palmer, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending at Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer.
Marcy Reinders
HASTINGS -- Marcy Kay Reinders, 34, of Hastings died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, from injuries received in a car accident in Hastings.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Norfolk.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Howser-Fillmer Mortuary in Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mary Scott
BURWELL -- Mary Scott, 100, of Burwell died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. The Rev. Marty Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Mrs. Scott was born
Aug. 25, 1899, in Garfield County to John and Frances (Dohnal) Mohr.
She married Jesse "J.C." Scott in 1931 at Ord. They lived on a farm until 1935 when they moved into Burwell. Mr. Scott died on Oct. 22, 1957.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include one daughter, Esther Scott of Burwell and two brothers, Albert and Charlie Mohr, both of Burwell.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bessie Richardson.
Linda Wiseman
JUNIATA -- Linda S. Wiseman, 49, of Juniata, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Juniata United Methodist church. The Rev. Dean Joy will officiate. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Further visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Church of Juniata or Juniata United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wiseman was born
March 15, 1950, in Holdrege. She graduated from Adams Central High School in 1968.
She married Charles "Chuck" Wiseman in Hastings. She had worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph and Sealy Greenhouse. She was a homemaker and a member of Juniata United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; parents, Charles and Dorothy McCall of Norfolk; two sons, Chad of Cairo and Shawn of Omaha; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Thomas McMinamen
HOLDREGE -- Thomas Edward McMinamen, 73, of Holdrege, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege. The Rev. John Zastrow will officiate. A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to a memorial in his memory.
Mr. McMinamen donated his body to the anatomical board at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Mr. McMinamen was born
Jan. 17, 1926, in Greeley to Joseph and Nora (McKenzie) McMinamen. He attended school in Greeley and Omaha. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, with service in the South Pacific.
He married Marcella "Sally" Kleffner on April 22, 1949. They lived in Norfolk where he worked for an office equipment company. In 1951, he moved to Grand Island, and was employed by N.C.R. In 1961, he was transferred to Holdrege and continued employment with N.C.R. until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Red Cross, American Legion and the Holdrege Country Club. He enjoyed reading, golfing and volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; three sons, Mike of Holdrege, Mark of McCook and Jack of Honolulu, Hawaii; one daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Jack) Ewert of Columbus; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Agnes (Mrs. Hugo) Nordin of Lady Lake, Texas, Joanie Rehder of Plano, Texas, Sally (Mrs. Bob) Smith of Bradenton, Fla. and Trisha Tueche of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack and two sisters, Eileen and Peg.
Emma Nelson
LINCOLN -- Emma Elizabeth Nelson, 82, of Lincoln, died Oct. 19, 1999, in Lincoln.
Services were Saturday in the Monroe Evangelical Free Church near Phillips. The Revs. Mark Dunmham and Robert Chitwood officiated. Burial was in Monroe Evangelical Free Church Cemetery.
Memorial services were Friday in Eastmont Towers in Lincoln. Dr. Robert Chitwood officiated.
Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln or Monroe Evangelical Free Church near Phillips or Eastmont Towers in Lincoln.
Miss Nelson was born
at Phillips to J. Andrew and Emma S. (Neander) Nelson. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from Kearney State College and her specialist degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota.
She taught in rural schools in Hamilton, Buffalo and Kearney counties and in Gothenburg, Holdrege and Kearney public schools. She was a public school psychologist in Ames, Iowa.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln.
Survivors include her sisters, Brita Marie Nelson and Theodora S. Nelson of Lincoln and Elinor (Mrs. John) Walstrum of Grand Rapids, Mich.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Wesley Nelson and Theodore Nelson and one sister, Evelyn E. Nelson.

Elvena Collins
FORT MORGAN, Colo. -- Elvena Marie Collins, 84, of Fort Morgan, Colo., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Fort Morgan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Life Fellowship Church in Fort Morgan. Burial will be at 2:45 p.m. at Resthaven Memory Garden near Fort Collins.
Memorials are suggested to the Life Fellowship Foreign Missions Program.

Mrs. Collins was born
Aug. 29, 1915, at Battle Creek to George and Faye Brixius.
She married George Collins on Feb. 8, 1935 at Creston. She lived in Grand Island for many years before moving to Loveland, Colo. In June 1995, she moved to Fort Morgan.
She was a member of Life Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her children, Maureen Cooper of Fort Collins, Colo., Patsy Henning of Spanway, Wash., Carol Lute of Fort Morgan, Karen Renault of Laughlin, Nev., Gary of Kearney, Michael of Bullhead City, Ariz., Dianne Harding of Fort Morgan, Deborah Marshall of Grant and Ricky of Virginia Beach, Va.; four brothers, Albert of Glendale, Ariz., Merle of Gresham, Ore., Merton of Chula Vista, Calif., George Jr. of Spring Green, Wis.; five sisters, Gayle Freeburg of Omaha, Lucille Childs of Prescott, Ariz., Genene Van Vactor of Kansas City, Mo., LaDonna Sparks of Trenton, Mo., Sharon Herring of Kansas City, Mo.; 40 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Darrell; one brother; one grandson and a great-granddaughter.
