James Davis
James M. Davis, 84, of 1720 Gretchen Ave. died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Davis' body was cremated. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the YMCA, St. Leo's Catholic Church or Stuhr Museum.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis was born
Nov. 27, 1915, to J. Thomas and Julia (Seiler) Davis at North Platte. He grew up in Grand Island where he attended school until moving to Omaha where he attended Technical High. He graduated from Grinnell College, Iowa, in 1938.
He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 with the Ordnance Corps in the Persian Gulf with the rank of captain.
He married Joan Witt on Dec. 27, 1948, in Nebraska City.
In 1945, he helped establish Kriz-Davis Company where he served as secretary-treasurer until he sold the company in 1979. He was active in the electrical industry and served as president of Electrical Wholesales Midwest.
He was a member of St. Leo's Parish. He served on the boards of the YMCA, Riverside Golf Club Holding Association, Norwest Bank, St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Medical Foundation and Chamber of Commerce. He served as chairman of two major fund drives for St. Mary's Cathedral and helped establish its first Parish Council.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; two daughters, Gretchen (Mrs. Dan) Eakes of Grand Island and Anndo Davis of San Francisco; two grandsons; two sisters, Donna (Mrs. Harmon) Gnuse of Titusville, Fla., and Merle (Mrs. Rex) Parks of Weslaco, Texas; and one brother, William Davis of Colchester, Conn.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Davis.
Elsie Seaman
Elsie M. Seaman, 85, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Sevices will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Rev. Joe Hannappel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetary in Spalding.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding.
Edna Benson
ST. EDWARD -- Edna W. Benson, 81, of St. Edward died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services are pending with Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Heather Grim
SARGENT -- Heather Grim, 24, of Sargent died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Sargent with the Rev. Marty Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent is in charge of arrangements.
Bernice Hill
ST. PAUL -- Bernice W. Hill, 96, of St. Paul, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Howard County Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.
Graveside services will be by Andrew Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary of St. Paul.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jacobsen Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Hospital Foundation.
Eva Kapustka
HASTINGS -- Eva A. Kapustka, 87, of Hastings, formerly of Ord and Elyria, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Gerald Kapustka will officiate. Burial will be in Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary, at Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Oblate Missions.
Mrs. Kapustka was born
Jan. 21, 1913, to Charlie and Caroline (Kozial) Sobon north of Elyria. She graduated from Fort Hartsuff District No. 7 School.
She married Anton Kapustka on Feb. 20, 1933, at Elyria. They farmed northwest and north of Elyria and east of Ord. She moved to Lincoln after Mr. Kapustka died on Oct. 16, 1966. She moved to Hastings two years ago to live with her son, Ernest, because of her health.
Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Gerald of Guatemala, Ernest of Hastings and Larry of Corvallis, Ore.; three daughters, Carol (Mrs. Nelson) Ozenberger of Corpus Christi, Texas, Elinor (Mrs. Lloyd) Zikmund of Ord and Betty of Corvallis, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Pearl Lerch of Howells and Laura Renter of Lincoln.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Ernest and Leonard; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Jean Phillips
FULLERTON -- Jean M. Phillips, 63, of Fullerton died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Phillips was born
Feb. 19, 1936, to Arthur and Ella (Johnson) Julesberg in Parkston, S.D. She and her family moved to Bainbridge Island, Wash., where she grew up. She attended school in Bainbridge Island, graduating from Bainbridge Island High School in 1954.
She married Larry Phillips on Aug. 11, 1957, at Rolling Bay, Wash. While he was in the U.S. Navy, they lived in several cities -- Portmouth, Va.; Honolulu, Hawaii; San Diego, Calif.; Omaha and Fullerton, where they settled in October 1979.
That month, they started and operated their own business, Fancy Plants Greenhouse, in Fullerton.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Eastern Star.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and watching Nebraska football games.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Bruce of Murdock; three daughters, Lisa of Atchison, Kan., Linda (Mrs. Walter) Brock of Plano, Texas, and Jennel Williams of Fullerton; 11 grandchildren; and her father of Seattle, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Harry Prochaska
PALMER -- Harry Prochaska, 88, of Palmer died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of Christ in Palmer. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer.
Howard Lough
NEWMAN GROVE -- Howard W. Lough, 82, of Newman Grove, formerly of Albion, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Roger Spearman
MILLER -- Roger Paul Spearman, 53, of Miller, formerly of Ainsworth, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Ainsworth. The Rev. Gerald H. Schwarz will officiate. Burial will be in Ainsworth Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Ainsworth Legion Post 79.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Spearman was born
July 4, 1946, to John Rea and Eva (Schelm) Spearman at Ainsworth.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, now known as the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula of Ainsworth; her mother, Donna Kegley of Ainsworth; and two sisters, LaPreil (Mrs. Rich) Walton of Tonto Verde, Ariz., and Geraldine (Mrs. Bob) Micheel of Ainsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

'Chuck' Studley
LANSDALE, Pa. -- Lloyd D. "Chuck" Studley, 56, of Lansdale, Pa., formerly of Wolbach, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Abington Memorial Hospital in Lansdale.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale. Services also will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Ken West will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach, with graveside military honors by Ray Mapes American Legion Post 236.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or New Life Youth and Family Services in Harleysville, Pa.
Mr. Studley was born
April 8, 1943, to Lloyd and Alberta (Thayer) Studley at Wolbach. He attended school at Wolbach, then attended and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Army First Infantry in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After his discharge, he attended and received a bachelor's degree in English from Lock Haven State College in Lock Haven, Pa. He continued his education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where he earned his master's degree in broadcast journalism.
He worked for Control Data in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., where he sold mainframe computers for about 10 years. He worked for Sears in Willow Grove, Pa., in sales and as a computer consultant at the time of his death.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lansdale. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include longtime companion, Patti Boyce of Lansdale; his former wife, Judie Tripp of Doylestown, Pa.; one son, Kristian of Atlanta; one daughter, Julie of Kearney; six brothers, Leroy and Layne, both of Wolbach, Larry of Grand Island, Leland of Phoenix, Lynn of North Platte and Loren of St. Paul; and two sisters, Lana (Mrs. Robert) Maret of Wood River and Lisa (Mrs. Mark) Liesinger of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Lanette Nicholas and Loy Marie Studley.
