Victor Wassermann Sr.

Victor C. Wassermann Sr., 93, of Grand Island died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, with a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School or the church.

Mr. Wassermann was born icon July 28, 1906, to Christian and Gertrude (Kroeger) Wassermann at Seward. He grew up and attended school at Seward. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee prior to earning his bachelor's degree at Concordia University. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received his master's degree in administration in 1958.

He married Loretta Voorus on Dec. 26, 1931, in Milwaukee. He served as principal and organist at Trinity Lutheran School in Grand Island for 23 years. He taught at Milwaukee for 18 years, and at Aurora, Ill., for three years. He retired in 1973.

He served as Park Place Nursing Home administrator for about three years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as president of the Community Concert Board in Grand Island for several years. He volunteered at Stuhr Museum and played the organ at the Grand Island Veterans Home chapel.

He enjoyed Colorado vacations with his wife, reading and he was an avid Nebraska football fan.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Victor II of Fullerton; one daughter, Roccene (Mrs. John) Baasch of Grand Island; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and one half sister, Aloha Wassermann Wirthel.

Elmer Perrill

Elmer C. Perrill, 77, of Grand Island died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mr. Perrill was born icon July 17, 1922, to Joseph and Hilda (Saltzman) Perrill at Norton, Kan. He grew up in Norton and received his education in Lenora, Kan. He graduated from Lenora High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1942, serving in the Pacific Theater before being honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant in 1946.

Mr. Perrill lived in Belleville, Kan., where he was employed by the co-op. He married Delores Fuller on April 1, 1967, in Cozad. They moved to Grand Island in 1970, where he managed the Farmers Union Feed Mill until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement he worked at Skagway.

Mr. Perrill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Eagles No. 378, the VFW, the American Legion and Pheasants Forever. He served as secretary and treasurer for the South Central Nebraska Sportsman Club. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, hunting, fishing and Big Red football.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of Grand Island; three sons, Michael Fuller of Salina, Kan., Ron Fuller of Lincoln and Chuck Fuller of Grand Island; five daughters, Cheri (Mrs. Perry) Ladd of Merino, Colo., Pam (Mrs. Doug) Doty of Grand Island, Cynthia (Mrs. Tony) Jacoby of Wood River, Peggy Scally of Lawrence, Kan., and Patty Long of Norton, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters, Erma Hackney of Norton, Kan., Ellen Couchet of Abilene, Kan., Mabel Bohl of Norton, Kan., Millie Byrne of Manhattan, Kan., Gladys Minshall of Norton, Kan., and Ivalee Grove of Horton, Kan.; and one brother, Lewis Perrill of Simla, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd.

LeRoy Peyton

LeRoy C. Peyton, 71, of 3004 W. 17th St., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Bryan LGH in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Kleine Funeral Home with the Rev. John Orchard officiating. Burial will be Thursday in the Cottonwood Cemetery.

Memorials will be to the family's choice.

Gary Schlueter

Gary Schlueter, 51, of Grand Island died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Chambers

SHELTON -- Elizabeth A. Chambers, 80, of Shelton died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon. The Rev. Charles Spence will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Center or People First in Kearney.

Mrs. Chambers was born icon April 13, 1919, to Harold and Grace (Campbell) Conroy at Shelton. She grew up there, graduating from Shelton High School in 1936. She received her teaching degree from Kearney Normal school in 1938 and taught at various rural schools in the area.

She married Jack C. Chambers on May 28, 1943, at Grand Island. They lived at various Air Force bases in the United States and Europe where he was stationed. He retired from the military in 1962 and the family moved to Aurora, Colo. He died in 1970 and the family then moved to Shelton. She worked at St. Luke's Care Center in Kearney until retiring in the mid-1980s. She then worked part time at South Side Grocery in Shelton.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Chambers of Kearney.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister.

Ruth Hurlbert

ORD -- Ruth D. Hurlbert, 70, of Ord died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. James Miller will officiate. She was cremated. Burial will be in Ord City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Valley County Hospital Foundation.

Lester Juett

GILTNER -- Lester Juett, 73, of Giltner died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. The Rev. Marlin Rasmussen will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Higby Mortuary.

Mr. Juett was born icon May 15, 1926, to Burt and Pearl (Chapman) Juett at Giltner. He grew up in Giltner and attended Giltner High School. He served in the military before returning to farm near Giltner.

He married Betty Grace on Feb. 14, 1948, in Sheridan, Wyo. They lived on a farm near Giltner. She died Feb. 11, 1974. He continued to live on the farm, even after retiring several years ago.

Survivors include three brothers, Roy of Garnet, Kan., Aaron of Edinburg, Texas, and Glen of Santa Cruz, Bolivia and one sister, Irene Stertz of Commerce City, Colo.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Edna.

Mary Noonan

SPALDING -- Mary E. Noonan, 84, of Spalding died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Friendship Villa in Spalding.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Revs. Joseph Hannappel, Walter Phelan and James Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, with rosaries at 4:30 and 8:15 p.m. Monday at Dolce-Scheef Mortuary.

Mrs. Noonan was born icon March 1, 1915, to John and Elizabeth (Murphy) Rohan at Spalding. She attended District No. 19 School north of Spalding.

She married George Noonan on June 4, 1940, at Spalding. They farmed south of Spalding until 1984, when they moved to Spalding. Mr. Noonan died in 1984. She continued to be involved with the farm until 1989.

She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth of Lincoln; three daughters, Eleanor Schmeits of Fort Worth, Texas, Phyllis Crooker of Dunning and Georgia Kaiser of Spalding; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elizabeth Smyth of Greeley and Jane Winninger of Leesburg, Fla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Patrick, John, James, Joseph and George Rohan.

Francis 'Jack' Elliott

BLUE HILL -- Francis "Jack" Elliott, 80, of rural Blue Hill died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Red Cloud. The Rev. Anderson Kwankin will officiate. Burial will be in the Red Cloud Cemetery.

Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Elliott was born icon on Aug. 22, 1919, in Smith County, Kan., to Francis G. and Blanche Priscilla (Fair) Elliott. He attended rural schools in Webster and Smith counties. He farmed for a number of years in Smith County and in the Red Cloud area.

He married Winona Baker on June 23, 1938, at Mankato, Kan. They moved to Red Cloud in 1954, to Grand Island in 1966 and to Cowles in 1994. He worked for Missouri Valley Construction for 32 years, retiring in 1988 as a road crew foreman.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Bill Elliott of Red Cloud; two daughters, Tamara Gestring of Lincoln and Cheryl Wilson of Red Cloud; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Todl of Topeka, Kan.; and a brother, Frank Elliott of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leland; and a sister, Hazel Isom.

Warren Keller

Warren V. Keller, 99, of Grand Island died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Lena Mae Jablonski

ORD -- Lena Mae Jablonski, 91, of Ord died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with Father Jim Warner officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Harley

LINCOLN -- Paul L. Harley, 87, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Mr. Harley was born icon Oct. 1, 1912 at Trojan, S.D. to Glen and Mona (Sidey) Harley.

He was a member of the Eastridge Presbyterian Church of Lincoln, a former member of the Church of the Cross of Omaha and First Presbyterian of Grand Island. He was active in Boy Scouts in Grand Island and was a retired Missouri Valley Planning commissioner.

Survivors include three sons, Garry Harley of Acton, Mass., Wayne Harley of Fullerton, Calif., and Rick Harley of Lincoln; one brother, "Bus" Glen Harley of Salt Lake City, Utah; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and brother, Robert.
