Clarence Siwinski
ASHTON -- Clarence I. Siwinski, 89, of Ashton died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Revs. Larry Coulter and Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church with a 7:30 p.m. parish and Knights of Columbus rosary.
Memorials are suggested at the family's choice.

Walter Wagner
ST. LIBORY -- Walter H. Wagner, 77, of St. Libory died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Karl Ziegler will officiate. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church or the people's choice.
Mr. Wagner was born
Oct. 5, 1922, at Merrick County to Henry and Pauline (Schwartz) Wagner. He attended Zion school.
He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 17, 1945, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 23, 1946.
Mr. Wagner farmed all his life raising Angus cattle and horses.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a sister, Hazel Eckles of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; and three brothers.
Thomas Hepner
SIDNEY -- Thomas E. Hepner, 67, of Sidney, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, in Sidney.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Cade Wiederin
NORFOLK -- Graveside services for Cade Isaac Wiederin, the infant son of Michael and Karri (Andreasen) Wiederin, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward.
He was delivered stillborn on Friday, March 24, 2000.
Levander Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his parents and one brother, Ayden, all of Norfolk; grandparents, Wayne and Susan Andreasen of St. Edward, and Larry and Sharon Wiederin of Arcadia, Iowa; and great-grandparents, Darlon Cook and Elva Matchett, both of Albion, Doyle and Lois Andreasen of Genoa, and John Kramer and Thelma Wiederin, both of Carroll, Iowa.

Roger Knutson
ELKHORN -- Roger Knutson, 72, of Elkhorn, formerly of Hordville, died Friday, March 24, 2000, in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church in Elkhorn. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mamre Cemetery in Marquette. Higby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Heafey, Heafey and Hoffman, 78th and Center streets, in Omaha.
Mr. Knutson was born
Oct. 12, 1927, at Hampton. He graduated from Hordville High School in 1945. He went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1949, and earned his masters degree there in 1954.
He married Ila Jean Nelson of Marquette in 1954. He retired from his job as an engineer at AT & T in Omaha after 32 years of service. For the past 33 years, Mr. Knutson has lived in Elkhorn.
He was a member of Elkhorn Hills United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, golf, photography, his family and the Cornhuskers.
Survivors include his wife, Ila Jean of Elkhorn; two daughters, Judy of Los Angeles, Calif., and Sue (Mrs. Kurt) Mollner of Omaha; a son, Jeff of Omaha; three grandchildren; a brother, Roy of Central City; and a sister, Joan (Mrs. Floyd) Benson of West Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Quick; a brother, Harvey; and infant son, Thomas.
Elizabeth Arends
Elizabeth M. Arends, 86, of the Nebraska Veteran's Home died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Libory Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Family Center or the United Ostomy Association.

Gary Beck
Gary E. Beck, 62, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pierce Chapel Cemetery near Clarks.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends throughout the afternoon and evening.
Memorials are suggested to the cemetery.
Mr. Beck was born
on Nov. 10, 1937, near Grand Island to Theodore and Mary A. (Goerl) Beck. He attended Gardner Country School north of Archer and later attended Seedling Mile School in Grand Island. He farmed with his parents near Harmony Hall.
He enjoyed country music, trips to Nashville and reading about places all over the world. He enjoyed being around the neighborhood children.
He was a member of the Grand Generation Center and the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Verden Hansen
Verden A. Hansen, 77, of Grand Island died Monday, April 3, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John D. Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the donor's choice.
Mr. Hansen was born
on Aug. 6, 1922, on a farm north of Cushing to Albert and Stella (Frederiksen) Hansen. He attended District 75 School southeast of Wolbach.
He entered the U.S. Navy in March 1944 and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was discharged in April 1946 and attended Grand Island Business College.
He began working for Midwest Piano Co. in Grand Island.
He married Harriet A. Rock on May 6, 1948, in Columbus. After working for Midwest Piano for 13 years, he became an owner with Rembolt-Hansen Piano and Organ Co. for 10 years. He then worked for Hoeft Brothers Furniture for 10 years. Mr. Hansen retired in 1979.
His hobbies included watching Western movies, walking at the mall and visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Platt-Duetsche, the Eagles and the Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ron of Grand Island and Bob of Loveland, Colo.; one daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Greg) Urwiller of Grand Island; two grandchildren; one sister, Lois Mae Edmundson of Chillicothe, Texas; and four brothers, Wayne of Lincoln, Mervin of Grand Island, Harlan of Parachute, Colo., and Lyle of Denver.
Duane Buhlke
BURWELL -- Duane Arthur Buhlke, 78, of Burwell died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Fund.
Mr. Buhlke was born
July 10, 1921, at Burwell to John H. and Margaret (Smith) Buhlke. He grew up in the Deverre and Swan Lake area north of Burwell and attended country school and Burwell High School.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Norma Jean Spencer on Sept. 16, 1949, at Julesburg, Colo. They lived on a ranch south of Bassett, where he worked as a ranch hand until moving to Burwell in 1968. He then worked for MDH Foodstore and as a rural mail carrier for many years. He retired in the early 1990s due to failing health.
In September 1999, the Buhlkes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 298. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife; one son, George of Burwell; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two brothers, John Buhlke of Grand Island and Lee Buhlke of Fresno, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Elaine Dimmitt; and a brother, Larry Buhlke.
