Percy Bandt
ST. PAUL -- Percy W. Bandt, 84, of St. Paul, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Ken West will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jacobsen Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Bandt was born
April 21, 1915, north of Wolbach to William and Anna Marie (Freeland) Bandt. When he was a child, his family moved to Colorado by covered wagon. The family later moved to Kansas, where he received his early education at Phillipsburg. In 1927, the family moved to a farm north of Palmer and he attended District 6 School in Howard County.
As a young man, he worked as a farm laborer and in the CCC camp in Scottsbluff.
He married Mable Smith on March 7, 1938, in St. Paul. The couple lived on various homesteads between Wolbach and Cushing. In 1968, the couple moved to a home north of St. Paul. In 1969, the couple moved into St. Paul and he operated a county maintainer for Howard County for 15 years.
He entered Heritage Living Center in December of 1999. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard work.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Norman of Cedar Rapids and Raymond of Fullerton; two daughters, Marilyn Prentice of Wolbach and Marjorie (Mrs. Elton) Teter of Amherst; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marvel of Farmington Hills, Mich.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers, Overton, Harold and infant Cecil.
'Betty' Moore
GREELEY -- Elizabeth J. "Betty" Moore, 72, of Greeley died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Revs. Gerald Carlson and John Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family.
T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Moore was born
Sept. 20, 1927, to Roy and Ann (Murphy) Clark at Greeley. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1946.
She married Robert W. Moore on Nov. 2, 1947, at Portland, Ore. The couple lived in Greeley throughout their married life.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she also served on the altar society.
She enjoyed baking.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim of San Francisco and Pat of Kearney; three daughters, Ellen (Mrs. Dan) Gitt of Wilcox, Ann (Mrs. Dennis) Bruns of Grand Island and Kathleen (Mrs. Paul) Glaser of Spalding; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Eileen Clark of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by one infant son; one brother, Larry "Chub" Clark and one sister, Louise Davey.
LaVina Strohl
TAYLOR -- LaVina V. Strohl, 92, of Taylor, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargeant. The Rev. Roy Kiester will officiate. Burial will be in the Almeria Cemetery west of Taylor.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup County Rescue Unit or the Loup County Historical Society.
Ellen Weekes
GREELEY -- Ellen Irene Weekes, 101, of Greeley, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the Greeley Care Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Greeley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Cynthia Altstadt will officiate. Burial will be in the Greeley City Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Greeley Care Home.

Haley Steer
DENTON -- Haley L. Steer, 81Ž2 month-old daughter of Gary and Lori (Urwiller) Steer of Denton, died Friday, April 14, 2000, in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln. The Rev. Mike McMurtry will officiate. Burial will be in the Denton Methodist Cemetery in Denton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Haley was born
July 26, 1999, in Lincoln. She was baptized Sept. 24, 1999, at her home. Although her life was short, she gave much love to all who knew her.
Survivors include her parents; one brother, Colton of Denton; and grandparents Wayne and Velma Urwiller of Ravenna and George and Laura Steer of Lincoln.
Merton Bilslend
Merton A. Bilslend, 92, of Grand Island died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Douglas Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Bilslend was born
Oct. 28, 1907, in Nortonville, Kan., to Walter H. and Lucy (Johnston) Bilslend. He attended school in Hutchinson, Kan.
He married L. Irene Skinner on Jan. 22, 1928, in Lyons, Kan. The couple made their home in Hutchinson, where he worked for Sentey Grocery Wholesale as a salesman. In the 1950s they moved to Grand Island and he began working for Nebraska Consolidated Mills.
Mr. Bilslend married Marie Christensen on May 12, 1962, in Dannebrog. The couple lived in Grand Island and he continued to work for Nebraska Consolidated Mills until he retired in 1970.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Riverside Golf Club and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joan Peyton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Clarence Burris
Clarence F. Burris, 81, of Grand Island died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center.
Mr. Burris was born
July 20, 1918, in Hambleton, Kan., to Edgar and Gladys (Jayne) Burris. He attended school in Emporia, Kan., and Emporia State College.
He married Elizabeth Rose Davis on April 26, 1941, in Seattle.
He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, serving until 1945. He returned to Kansas following military service and worked as an oil rigger. He then worked as a watch repairman in Wichita and Hutchinson, Kan.
He moved to North Platte in 1967, and operated a Tupperware distributorship. He moved to Grand Island in 1974, and operated the Tupperware business until retiring in 1986.
Mr. Burris enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Burris of Grand Island and Kim Burris of Anaheim, Calif.; five daughters, Patricia McKay of Anaheim, Calif., Barbara De Pue of Orange, Calif., Cindy Ostendorf of North Platte, and Merna Hartwig and Sally Wright, both of Grand Island; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Burris of Emporia, Kan., Marion Burris of Hoisington, Kan., and Edward Burris Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty," and a brother, Hugh Burris.
Dorothy Frauen
Dorothy Frauen, 92, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Lakeview Rehab and Nursing Center.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Marlene Becker
ALBION -- Marlene Kay Becker, 53, of Albion died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Orlando Gunderson will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Becker was born
June 25, 1946, one of twin daughters in the Akron area west of Albion to Burton and Thelma (Moore) Kruse. She was educated in rural districts No. 24 and No. 53, and graduated from Albion High School in 1964. She attended Bryan Memorial Nursing School in Lincoln for three years and graduated in 1967 as a registered nurse.
She married George J. Becker on June 9, 1968, in Albion. They farmed northeast of Albion. In addition to helping her husband on the farm, Mrs. Becker worked at the Boone County Hospital. She also worked part-time with Home Health Care.
She was a member of Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church and was involved with the ladies of the church.
Survivors include her husband, George; a son, John Becker of Albion; a daughter, Judy Pecaut of Omaha; one grandchild; a brother, Robert Kruse; and twin sister, Marilyn Ransen (Mrs. Larry) of Albion.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Becker.
Rose Geneski
ORD -- Rose Geneski, 92, of Ord died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Funeral services are pending. The Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John Murphy
OMAHA -- John E. Murphy, 72, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
