Ivan Forsman

AURORA -- Ivan Forsman, 89, of Aurora died Friday, July 23, 1999, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Services were on Monday at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. The Rev. Barry McCormick officiated. Burial was in the Aurora Cemetery.

Higby Mortuary of Aurora was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials will be directed to several special mission projects.

Survivors include his wife, Allene; two sons, Dr. Richard of Omaha and Kent of Aurora; one daughter, Dr. Patricia (Mrs. Paul) Bunger of Yankton, S.D.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eric and Uno; and three sisters, Bertha Forsman, Elsa Gustafson and Alice Forsman.

Emillie Furtak

RAVENNA -- Emillie Furtak, 93, of Ravenna died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.

Arrangements are pending at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.

Tammy Sue Hinrichs

HASTINGS -- Tammy Sue Hinrichs, 29, of Hastings died in a farm accident Saturday, July 24, 1999, in rural Adams County.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Shari Duminy officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family

Mrs. Hinrichs was born icon on July 3, 1970, in Hastings to Lonnie and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Miller. She attended schools in Harvard, Hastings and Trumbull.

She married Lyndell D. Hinrichs on Nov. 30, 1991, in Hastings.

Mrs. Hinrichs was a Home Interior sales representative and also a CSM at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings and Prairie Winds in Doniphan.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael and Nicholas; her mother, Mary Behrends of Hastings; her father, Lonnie Miller of Hansen; her stepfather, Gary Behrends of Giltner; two sisters, Shelly Hurt and Denna Behrends, both of Hastings; and her grandmother, Winona Miller of Longbranch, Wash.

Dr. Victor Lofgreen

HASTINGS -- Dr. Victor Eugene Lofgreen, 79, of Hastings died Monday, July 26, 1999.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Enfield Funeral Home in Norton, Kan. Jeff Nielsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Norton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln American Legion.

Dr. Lofgreen was born icon on Nov. 7, 1919, in Norton, Kan. He grew up in the Norton area, attended Dry Creek Rural Grade School and graduated from Norton High School.

He was a pilot during World War II and flew the Burma Hump in the Air Transport Command. Following the war, he earned a doctorate in dentistry from the University of Nebraska.

He married Phyllis Ann Miler. They lived in Lincoln, where he practiced dentistry for 20 years, and then moved to Hastings, where he practiced for 21 years.

He married Mary Jane Trusdale-Duis on June 15, 1996, in Lincoln. They had lived in Hastings.

Dr. Lofgreen was a member of the American Dental Association, Association of Institutional Dentistry, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He taught periodontal dentistry at the University of Nebraska and dental hygiene at Central Community College in Hastings.

He also enjoyed flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Nebraska Antique Aircraft Association and Young Eagles Flight Group.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Dr. Victor D. Lofgreen of Chicago, Mark Lofgreen and Chris Lofgreen, both of Lincoln, Cass Lofgreen of Steilacoom, Wash., Deborah Lofgreen of Columbia, Mo., and Kaj Lofgreen of Phoenix; two stepchildren, Bob Duis and Betsy (Mrs. Tim) Glenn, all of New Richmond, Wis.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Volney Lofgreen of Grand Island and Denzel Lofgreen of Norton, Kan.

Gail Wewel

KEARNEY -- Gail M. Wewel, 86, of Kearney died July 21, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services were on Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bassett. The Rev. Jim Hunt officiated. Burial was in St. Boniface's Catholic Cemetery

Mrs. Wewel was born icon on Nov. 25, 1912, in Auburn to Frank and Ruth (Dennis) Lutz. She was educated at the University of Nebraska.

She married Rudolph Wewel on May 19, 1936. They ranched southeast of Newport and were instrumental in starting the Sandhills National 4-H and FFA Livestock Show. She taught religious classes at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Newport and at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bassett.

Mrs. Wewel was a 55-year member of the Newport NightinGals Extension Club.

Survivors include five daughters, Rudina Thayer of Culpepper, Va., Ruth Masin of Cedar Bluffs, Terese Lech and Kristine LaRocca, both of Burwell, and Jean Lodgsdon of Buckeye, Ariz.; two sons, Paul of Lakewood, Colo., and Tony of Creighton; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; one sister, Belle Barlow of Kirksville, Mo.; and one brother, Gillman Lutz of Kirksville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and one brother.

Robert Wheeler

HASTINGS -- Robert J. Wheeler, 65, of Hastings died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Hastings. The Rev. Judith Allen will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Masonic Cemetery at Bucklin, Mo.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brand-Wilson Mortuary in Hastings.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehab.

Mr. Wheeler was born icon on July 17, 1934, at Belaire, Mo., to Ralph J. and Jessie (Francisco) Wheeler. He attended elementary school in Wharton, Texas, and Chillicothe, Mo., and graduated from Brookfield, Mo., High School. He graduated from Truman University in Crooksville, Mo., in 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956.

He married Nancy Bohnsack on Feb. 8, 1958. He worked for Donaldson Manufacturing in Chillicothe, Mo.; Xerox in Rochester, N.Y.; Hercules Powder in Lawrence, Kan.; York Manufacturing in York; Chief Industries in Grand Island; Hastings Pork; and Nebraska Aluminum Castings in Hastings. He was president of Wheeler Construction in Grand Island.

He was a former private pilot.

He was a member of the First Christian Church; Brookfield, Mo., Masonic Lodge 86; Toastmasters in Hastings; YMCA; Nebraska Storytellers; and Truman State University Alumni Association.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Ann Morris of Lincoln; two sons, Ralph Ryan Wheeler of Lincoln and Robert Jordon Wheeler of Yorktown, Va.; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Susan Greenman of Cadillac, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Brennan.

Arlene Frank

VALLEY -- Arlene Bevins Frank of Valley died June 29, 1999.

Services were on July 3 at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Valley.

She was the daughter of Frank and Maggie Bevins. The family lived just south of Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. C. Rex Bevins of Lincoln and Gerald Bevins of Bellevue; and a sister, Dorothy Bevins Froelich of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Robert.

Dean Schinzel

SUTTON -- Dean Andrew Schinzel, 66, of Sutton died Monday, July 26, 1999, at St. Elizabeth's Community Health Center in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton. The Rev. George Horner will officiate. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Sutton Christian School.

Kohler Mortuary of Sutton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schinzel was born icon on May 4, 1933, near Grafton to Ralph Milton and Gladys Vivian (Hubbard) Schinzel. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1951. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1957 with a bachelor of science in agriculture and returned to the family farm near Grafton.

He married Dorothy A. Dicke on Dec. 5, 1987, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton. They lived in Sutton, and Mr. Schinzel continued farming in Grafton.

He was a member of Hope Reformed Church and had served as board president of the parents group at Martin Lutheran Hope in Beatrice for six years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane (Mrs. Dave) Ellis of Humbolt and Carolyn (Mrs. Scott) Strathman of Goff, Kan.; one son, Melvin Leksik of Beatrice; five grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Samuelson of Blue Springs; two brothers, Charles of Arlington, Texas, and Waldo of Geneva; and a nephew, Mike Skinner, whom he helped raise.

Henry Engel

ENUMCLAW, Wash. -- Henry F. Engel, 78, of Enumclaw, Wash., died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Auburn, Wash.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Weeks' Whitmore Funeral Home in Buckley, Wash. The Rev. Dennis Stebly will officiate. Burial will be in the Buckley City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Engel was born icon on May 30, 1921, in Grand Island. He was a PBX supervisor at Pacific Telephone for 30 years.

He was a member of Country Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma; a son, Thomas of Sumner, Wash.; a daughter, Kate Percival of Enumclaw, Wash.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John of Lincoln; and two sisters, Molly Engel of Grand Island and Bernice Engel of Omaha.
