'Faye' Shada

HASTINGS -- Fayette "Faye" Shada, 51, of Hastings died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hastings. The Rev. Paul Hitsch will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery at Hastings.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour before services at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mrs. Shada was born icon on Aug. 3, 1948, in Hastings to Emil and Evelyn (Black) Bunde. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1966.

She married Michael A. Shada on Aug. 28, 1966. She was a clerk for the Nebraska Driver's Examining Bureau.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Michelle (Mrs. Donald) Kirkbride of Juniata; her mother, of Hastings; a sister, Sheryl Weber of Hastings; and two brothers, Ronald Bunde of Lincoln and Lonnie Bunde of Papillion.

Rev. Albert Winseman Jr.

LINCOLN -- The Rev. Albert Winseman Jr., 65, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Rochester, Minn.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Warren Swartz will officiate. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Blue Mound Cemetery at Milford.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Roper and Sons Funeral Services in Lincoln. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the church or American Heart Association.

The Rev. Winseman was born icon in Winter Haven, Fla., to Albert W. Sr. and Bernice C. (Dusenbury) Winseman.

He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., received a bachelor of arts in education from Peru State College, B.D. from Iliff School of Theology in Denver and master's and doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He was a United Methodist pastor, retiring in 1987. He taught math and speech and was principal, assistant coach and drama coach at Dunbar.

The Rev. Winseman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later was a sergeant in the National Guard. He was Milford mayor from 1969 to '72.

He was United Methodist Church Lincoln district superintendent and a member of the United Methodist Nebraska Annual Conference. He served at the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island and at churches in Havelock, Omaha, Florida, Denver, Denton, Malcolm and Pleasant Dale.

The Rev. Winseman was student services director and on the faculty at Southeast Community College in Milford and dean of men and a faculty member at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

He was past president of the Peru Alumni Association, president of ARMS, treasurer of Educational Service Unit 6, a Kiwanis member and an alumnus of Kappa Sigma fraternity at UNL.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, the Rev. Albert Winseman of Lincoln and Jeffrey Winseman of Bennington, Vt.; four grandchildren; and one brother, James Taggart of Huntington, Wyo.

Irma Corwin Irma P. Corwin, 93, of Grand Island died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Corwin was born icon on Nov. 29, 1905, at Grand Island to Dan and Maude (Hancock) Dunkel. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island.

She married A.E. Corwin on April 17, 1927, at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Corwin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Andrew Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Corwin of Grand Island and Marvin Corwin of Santa Cruz, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her husband died on Feb. 19, 1992. She also was preceded in death by her brother, Harold.

Elsie Rodekohr Elsie E. Rodekohr, 88, of Grand Island died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Richard Bacon will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Rodekohr was born icon on Oct. 24, 1910, at Blue Rapids, Kan., to Phillips and Alice (Reedy) VanHoutan. They moved to Madison, S.D., when she was 6. She grew up and was educated there. She returned to Kansas at the age of 20.

She married Charles H. Joseph on Nov. 24, 1947.

She married Edward W. Rodekohr on April 5, 1958, at Central City. She was a cook at the Ace Cafe in Chapman and retired in 1968. Her husband died on March 12, 1983. She moved to an apartment in Grand Island in 1991 and to the Grand Island Veterans Home in 1996.

Mrs. Rodekohr was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed flowers and painting.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty P. (Mrs. Paul) Brooks of Chapman, Thelma E. (Mrs. Harold) Padget of Blue Rapids and Patricia A. (Mrs. Don) Skinner Yonker of Phillips; one son, Phillip L. Joseph of Blue Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Phillip VanHoutan of Hamilton, Mont., James Albert VanHoutan of Florence, Colo., and Luther E. VanHoutan of Alamogordo, N.M.

Other than her two husbands, she was preceded in death by one grandson, three sisters and four brothers.

Betty Winfrey Betty J. Winfrey, 63, of Grand Island died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or Park Place.

Miss Winfrey was born icon on Aug. 25, 1936, at Wolbach to Ambrose and Mabel (Layher) Winfrey. She grew up in Greeley County and graduated from Greeley High School in 1954. Shortly after her graduation, she was involved in an automobile accident, which left her permanently disabled. She became a resident at Park Place in the mid-1980s.

She enjoyed reading, listening to country music, playing bingo and watching television.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her mother, of Grand Island; one sister, Loraine Leiss of Grand Island; and one brother, Leland Winfrey of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Lavonne Kinney.

Harry Duering HASTINGS -- Harry G. Duering, 68, of Hastings died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Brand-Wilson Chapel. Burial will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Brand-Wilson Mortuary in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Duering was born icon Feb. 21, 1931, to Herman and Velma (Hinton) Duering at North Platte. He lived in Hastings since 1956. He was a retired grain elevator operator employed by Morrison and Quirk Elevator in Hastings.

His hobbies included wood-working.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Feik, Betty Nollette and Linda Voboril, all of Hastings; three sons, Roger of Hastings, Roy of Trimont, Minn., and Raymond of Brownton, Minn.; five sisters, Bessie Clark, Mable VanCleave and Marge Bellairs, all of Grand Island, Darlene Kyhe of St. Paul and Pauline Roberts of Seward; three brothers, Darrell of Denver, Glenn of Lexington and Jerry of Grand Island; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one granddaughter.

LaOra Govier BROKEN BOW -- LaOra Govier, 72, of Broken Bow died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at her home.

Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Grace Lanka BROKEN BOW -- Grace Lanka, 91, of Broken Bow died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Revs. Charles Gregory and Henry Duerksen will officiate. Private graveside services will be before the memorial services Wednesday at the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow.

Mrs. Lanka was born icon on Jan. 29, 1908, at Winnebago to Chancy and Anna Margaret (Snyder) Hayes. In 1912, she moved with her family to Arthur County, where she attended school. She graduated from Arthur County High School in 1926.

She married Frank Joseph Lanka on March 10, 1928, at Julesburg, Colo. They lived in Arthur County until moving near Stapleton in 1949. They moved to Broken Bow in 1958. Mr. Lanka died on March 26, 1976.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include four sons, Clarence Lanka and Elton Lanka, both of Stapleton, Frank Lanka of Grand River, Iowa, and Kenneth Lanka of Norfolk; one daughter, Lorna (Mrs. George) Lane of Kearney; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Josephine Lech BURWELL -- Josephine A. Lech, 89, of Burwell died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Jim Warner will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Fire and Rescue or the Burwell Community Memorial Health Center.

Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Keith Moeller Loup City - Keith C. Moeller, 79, of Loup City died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at his home in Loup City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City with military honors at the gravesite.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church, Sherman County Historical Society, the St. Francis Hospice program, or the American Legion baseball program.

Jacobsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moeller was born icon Oct. 16, 1919, to Ernest and Sylvia (Blumer) Moeller at Ashton. He attended Ashton schools, graduating from Ashton high school. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the South Pacific in the 99th signal battalion from 1942 to 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Ashton.

He married Doris Jensen on March 11, 1947, at Grand Island. The couple moved to Ashton and lived there for one year. They then moved to Loup City where he worked in carpentry. He later worked for two plumbing businesses in Loup City. He last worked for Kansas Nebraska Energy Inc. in Loup City as a maintenance man for 20 years. He retired in 1986 and continued to live in Loup City the rest of his life.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Loup City. He was also a member of AL Burrows American Legion Post No. 48 of Loup City, the VFW No. 7027 of Loup City and the Forty and Eight. He had also been active in Boys Scouts and his hobbies included carpenter work and bowling.

Survivors include his wife of Loup City; one son, Michael of Loup City; two daughters, RaeLea (Mrs. Darwin) Lee of St. Paul and Nancy (Mrs. Donald ) Smith of Loup City; one sister, Iris Hansen of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hazel Burmood VERDIGRE -- Hazel E. Burmood, 86, of Verdigre died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the Alpine Village Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
