Edna Hall

STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Edna M. Hall, 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at Buena Vista Hospital in Storm Lake.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fratzke Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Swinton officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Hall was born icon Oct. 26, 1909, in Allen, Neb., to David and Nellie (Buckmaster) Tuning.

She graduated from high school and from Nebraska Central College in Central City. She also attended Wayne State College. For several years prior to her marriage she taught school.

She married Robert F. Hall at Allen on June 6, 1935. He died on June 30, 1985.

Mrs. Hall was a member of First United Methodist Church of Storm Lake and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

Survivors include her son, Robert R. "Bob" Hall of Storm Lake; a stepson, Donald Hall of Stockton, Mo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Engel of Beatrice.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Marilyn and Carolyn and two brothers, Joe and Arnold.

Karen McFarland

Karen E. McFarland, 59, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at the Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Karen McFarland Memorial Fund.

Mrs. McFarland was born icon July 26, 1940, to Dick and Clara (Scheibel) Glade at Grand Island. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1958. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado State College and later graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of science degree in education.

She married Robert W. McFarland on Aug. 4, 1962, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. She taught school for three years for the Grand Island Public Schools.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter CK and was past president of the Womens Golf Association at the Riverside Golf Club. She also sang several years with the Grand Island City Singers.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bruce McFarland of Grand Island and Henry McFarland of Shawnee, Okla.; one sister, Leslie Anne Hess of Foley, Minn., and her father, Henry Dixon Glade of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Mildred Rasmussen

MARQUETTE -- Mildred Louise Rasmussen, 71, of Marquette died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant View Bible Church. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

Mrs. Rasmussen was born icon on July 22, 1928, in Alberta, Canada, to Cecil and Lucy Whisler. She was 9 years old when she moved with her parents to Iowa. She completed her last two years of high school at the Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She also graduated from the Bible college department. Following graduation from Bible college, she worked as a home missionary for a year.

She married the Rev. Marlin Rasmussen on Aug. 15, 1952.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Judy (Mrs. Randy) Rogers of St. Charles, Mo., and Janel (Mrs. Michael) Osladil of Decatur, Ill.; two sons, Jim Rasmussen of Thedford and Jerald Rasmussen of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Mrs. Joe) Morse of Anaheim, Calif., and Miriam (Mrs. Ed) Baer of Perry, Iowa; and one brother, David Whisler of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister and one brother.

Lowell Dodd

CRETE -- Professor Lowell E. Dodd, 68, of Crete died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Heckman Auditorium at Doane College in Crete.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to Doane College.

Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dodd was born icon May 25, 1931, in Stuart. He graduated from Stuart High School in 1948 and attended Doane College, graduating in 1952.

After graduation, he entered the Air Force for four years. For six years, he was a principal, junior high school science teacher, and track and football coach at South Sioux City. He then joined the education staff at Doane College, teaching elementary education students. He also started the Media Center there.

Survivors include his wife, Constance of Crete; two daughters, Cynthia (Mrs. Mike) Dark of Grover Beach, Calif., and Camie (Mrs. Marc) Linos of Lansing, Ill.; one son, Thad of Lincoln; and four grandchildren.

'Jack' Elliott

BLUE HILL -- Francis "Jack" Elliott, 80, of rural Blue Hill, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln.

Services are pending with Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud.

Fred Cook

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-- Fred B. Cook, 76, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

Services were Monday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Grand Junction. Burial was in the New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colo.

The Callahan-Edfast Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Dan R. of Parachute, Colo., David B. of Grand Island, and Gerald D. of Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters, Julie F. Little of Grand Junction and Joan M. Milsaps of New Haven, Conn.; one sister, Goldie Shaffer of California and four grandchildren.

Tracy Lambert

ALOHA, Ore. -- Tracy Leroy Lambert, 39, of Aloha, Ore., died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Grove Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Doug Timmons will officiate.

Mr. Lambert was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Society or the Washington County Hospice.

Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ore., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lambert was born icon on Jan. 22, 1960, at North Platte to Gerald and Nancy J. (Gibson) Lambert. From 1963 to 1973, the family lived in Albuquerque, N.M., where he attended elementary school. The family moved to the Forest Grove area in 1973. He attended Neil Armstrong Junior High and graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1978.

Early on, he worked for Fab Mark. He worked both in fabrication and assembly during his career. Most recently, he had worked for Quandrant for about two and a half years doing estimating and purchasing.

An avid photographer, he enjoyed the outdoors including bow hunting, hiking and camping. He also enjoyed paint ball.

He attended Forest Grove Assembly of God Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his parents and a brother, Bruce Lambert of Algier, N.C.

Betty Moffett

Betty E. Moffett, 79, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Shelton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Kleine Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Frank Kuzelka

DAVID CITY -- Frank A. Kuzelka, 90, of David City died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. The Rev. Stephen Cooney will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brainard.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Holesovsky Mortuary in Brainard and after 6 p.m. at the church. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Roberts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kuzelka was born icon on Oct. 27, 1908, at DeWitt to Frank and Anastasia (Barta) Kuzelka. He graduated from Wilber High School.

He married Marie Soukup on May 28, 1934, in Bee. He worked at the John Deere dealer in Brainard for 17 years. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Brainard Fire Department, Brainard Community Club and served on the Brainard Village Board. He was a past president of the Brainard Co-op and was instrumental in commercial and residential development south of Seward, where he lived.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald of Grand Island, Loren of Lincoln and Allen of Hastings; two daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Bruce) Rezac and LaVonne (Mrs. Larry) Behne, both of Brainard; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas Kuzelka of Crete.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

Orville Williams

CHADRON -- Orville E. Williams, 78, of Chadron died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Chadron Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Peter Bertram will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Chadron Rescue Unit or the church.

Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams was born icon on March 30, 1921, in Aurora to Orie and Grace (Grant) Williams.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a former prisoner of war.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; four sons, Michael of Loveland, Colo., Robert of Chadron, Doug of Lisbon, Ohio, and Randy of Lincoln; one daughter, Dee (Mrs. Scott) Cook of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Peetzke of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
