Kenneth Sautter

Kenneth Sautter, 72, of Ocala, Fla. died Monday, July 24, 2000 in Ocala.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Sautter was cremated.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Stines

Dorothy K. Stines, 78, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Congregational Church. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate.

Cremation will follow the services with burial at a later date.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kleine Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the United Congregational Church.

Mrs. Stines was born icon July 23, 1922, to Adolph and Stella (Scheerle) Kanzler near Santa Claus, Ind. She graduated from Dale High School in Dale, Ind., in 1940. Then she attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Ind. She worked for the Standard Oil Company in Evansville.

She married James H. Stines on Sept. 6, 1947, near LaMar, Ind. They lived in Evansville where she continued to work for the Standard Oil Co. In 1963, they moved to the Chicago area for two years, then to Fort Worth, Texas, and then Ogden, Utah, before moving Grand Island in 1969. She worked at the Hardman Lumber Co. and then became bookkeeper for the Nogg Paper Co. in Grand Island.

She was a member of the United Congregational Church, the Evansville Chapter 55 of the Order of Eastern Star and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She also enjoyed golf and bowling.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth J. Stines and Dr. Mark H. Stines, both of Grand Island, and Jay E. Stines of Cairo; four grandchildren; one great-grandson and one sister, Henrietta Baribault of Dale, Ind.

'Dale' Moore

Clinton "Dale" Moore, 77, of Grand Island died Friday, July 28, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Mr. Moore was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Moore was born icon May 1, 1923, to Alvy and Luella (Jenner) Moore at Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and then entered the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater and Germany. He had been a prisoner of war during World War II and had earned a purple heart and the Bronze Star as well as numerous other medals and awards.

He worked at the VA Medical Center in maintenance and at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in security at the door and also tending the bar.

He was a member of the Lutheran faith, a Golden Eagle, American Legion at Doniphan and the DAV. He enjoyed hooking rugs for family and friends and fishing. He enjoyed watching late-night television and also enjoyed Nebraska football. He belonged to the "coffee clutch" group which met at Skagway daily. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Louisiana to see his daughters.

Survivors include three daughters, Delores "Gayle" Foret, Yvonne (Mrs. Deryl) M. Rougeau and Patricia Ann Mehringer, all of Lake Charles, La.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and a special friend, Maxine Bielfeldt.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Cheryl Guerrero

Cheryl Ann Guerrero, 34, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in a car accident near Julesburg, Colo.

All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Dakan

Mary Lou Dakan, 64, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Lakeview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Lois Petersen

Greeley -- Lois E. Petersen, 76, of Greeley died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Wolbach.

Visitation will be prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Miss Petersen was born icon Dec. 2, 1923, to Andrew and Marjorie (Jacobsen) Petersen in Greeley County. She was raised on farm in Greeley County.

She was taken care of by her parents because of a handicap. She then moved to the Bethphage Mission in Axtell and to the Fullerton Manor and later to the Greeley Care Home.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Wolbach.

Survivors include one sister, Rachel (Mrs. Don) Glinsmann of Wolbach.

Lorraine Augustyn

ORD -- Lorraine M. Augustyn, 71, of Ord died Friday, July 28, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at the Ord Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mrs. Augustyn was born icon Nov. 25, 1928, at Valley County near Elyria to John and Anna (Kapustka) Boro. She graduated from Ord High School in 1946.

She married Bernard Augustyn on Oct. 19, 1948. The couple lived on a farm north of Ord for 17 years. In 1966, they moved into Ord. Mr. Augustyn died July 1, 1992.

Mrs. Augustyn worked at Safeway, Vida's Rest home and LeBose Rest Home. In 1968, she began working for Carson's IGA where she was employed until retirement in October of 1999. She was the janitor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic School for many years. She also painted and wallpapered.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, visiting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Gary and Tim, both of Ord; two daughters, Patti (Mrs. Lex) Bratka of Burwell and Joni (Mrs. Jody) Smith of Crete; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Al Boro of Ord; and a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Harold) Klinginsmith of Cambridge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sylvester "Syl" Boro.

Norman Mead

WOOD RIVER -- Norman E. Mead, 69, of Wood River died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Wood River. The Revs. John McKinley and Karen Kennerly will officiate. Burial will be at the Wood River Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Rescue Unit.

Mr. Mead was born icon June 14, 1931, at Wood River to Arthur and Olga (Dellert) Mead. He graduated from Wood River High School in 1949. He grew up working in his father and uncle's blacksmith shop named Mead Bros.

He worked for area farmers until January of 1951, when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the artillery in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in January of 1954, with the rank of sergeant.

He married Pearl Reed of Cairo on Oct. 10, 1954, in Wood River.

Mr. Mead lived in Wood River all of his life except for the summer of 1959, when he was in Lander, Wyo., working as a road construction mechanic. After his discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps., he returned to work at Mead Bros. He also had his own welding shop for a few years before closing it in 1959.

He worked for S.A. Foster Lumber Co. in Wood River. After leaving that job, he worked at the Wood River Alfalfa Mill for seven years as a mechanic. He also worked at Swift and Company of Grand Island for 11 years as a plant mechanic.

Mr. Mead built his own machine and welding shop in 1977. He ran it with his sons until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he spent summers in the mountains of Wyoming and Montana, and winters in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping in Wyoming.

He served on the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and as a Wood River city councilman for 11 years. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wood River, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl of Wood River; two sons, Gary of Grand Island and Gregory of Wood River; a daughter, Rhonda (Mrs. Kim) Denman of Wood River; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn (Mrs. Verne) Moseman of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry Coplen

HARVARD -- Jerry L. Coplen, 44, of Harvard died Saturday, July 29, 2000, near Harvard in a car accident.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Harvard with the Rev. Stan Crawford will officiate. Memorial services will also be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach with Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice or the Women's Fellowship.

Mr. Coplen was born icon Feb. 8, 1956, at Fullerton to Aaron and Lillian (Dasher) Coplen. He graduated from Wolbach High School in 1974.

He was employed by the Lemmerman Hatchery in Palmer, the Western Landroller in Hastings and the Trumbull Coop. For the past 10 years, Mr. Coplen was employed by Aurora Coop. He was also an assistant softball coach.

He married Marla Wahl in 1985. On Sept. 16, 1989, he married Esther Hiebert in Henderson. The couple made their home in Harvard.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Harvard.

He enjoyed camping, water skiing and football.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Harvard; three daughters, Lillian, Lena and Jeri, all at home; his mother, Lillian of Scotia; seven sisters, Linda (Mrs. Jim) Moores of Scotia, Kathy (Mrs. Mike) Conroy of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Debbie (Mrs. LeRoy) Keeler of Aurora, Brenda Coplen of Palmer, Donna Coplen of North Platte, Teresa Coplen of Wolbach and Connie (Mrs. Johnny) Lopez of Schyler; and a brother, Ray of Central City.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Jimmy.

Mervin Evans

LOUP CITY -- Mervin "Merv" Evans, 69, of Loup City died Thursday, July 27, 2000, while traveling through Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., and will continue from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
