Jeanine Swanson
ST. PAUL -- Jeanine M. Swanson, 67, of St. Paul died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Mrs. Swanson was cremated.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas Hyde will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Alvin Rakow
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Alvin B. Rakow, 74, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died May 12, 2000, in Punta Gorda.
Services were on Tuesday at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home in the Punta Gorda Chapel. Burial was in Royal Palm Memorial Garden.
Memorials are suggested to the Animal Welfare League, 3519 Drance St., Charlotte Harbor, FL 33980.
Mr. Rakow was born
on July 26, 1925, in Omaha. He had lived in the Washington, D.C., area where he was in management with the American Red Cross. He retired to Florida 19 years ago.
Survivors include a sister, Carol Seitzer of Grand Island.
His wife, Miriam, died in 1996.
Orville Arnett
AURORA -- Orville K. Arnett, 87, of Aurora died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Hamilton Manor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jay Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mr. Arnett was born
on Jan. 2, 1913, in Phillips to Charles and Lela (Dixon) Arnett. He grew up in Hamilton County. He attended school in Giltner and Phillips. He began working for Hamilton County farmers at the age of 12. One of the most memorable families he worked for was the Ernstmeier brothers north of Phillips.
He married Katherine "Irene" Rediger on Oct. 14, 1932, in Belleville, Kan. They lived in Phillips. He began working at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island in the 1940s. He also farmed.
The family moved to Henthorne Farms northwest of Hampton in October 1945. In 1958, they moved to Hampton, where he began working for the Hampton public schools.
He drove the school bus and was custodian in Hampton for 13 years. He received several community service awards, including the Dr. Otto M. Troester Award.
In 1971, he and his wife moved to Aurora, where he worked for the Aurora schools as building and grounds superintendent. He also drove the school bus and was custodian. He worked for the Aurora schools for 17 years.
He was an active member of the First Christian Church of Aurora and a past member of the Lions Club of Hampton and Aurora. He was a past 4-H leader.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Mrs. Earl) Kissel of Aurora; two sons, Emmett of Grand Island and Roger of Hampton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Eunice Debban of Kennewick, Wash., Wilma Debban of Hastings, Opal Ackerman of Jordan Valley, Ore., and Dorothy Purdy of Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Gale; one sister, Ila Arnett; and three brothers, Leland, Charles and George.
Albert Goodwin
CAIRO -- Albert I. Goodwin, 76, of Cairo, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 7 p.m. rosary service.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Goodwin was born
May 24, 1923, at Halsey to James M. and Idella (Reyno) Goodwin. As a young boy he lived at South Dakota for a year before returning to Nebraska.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and served during the Korean Conflict. He received his discharge in 1947.
He married Bonnie Dubbs on May 18, 1948, in Grand Island. They farmed for two years and then he worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. They moved to Grand Island where he worked for Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery and for Wilson Concrete for more than 7 years.
The family moved to Cairo and lived on a farm west of Cairo for more than 40 years. He also worked for several construction companies, Baxter Feed Yard, drilling wells and at Monfort, now ConAgra Beef Company.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Albert of North Platte, Larry of Cairo and Bill of Linwood; one daughter, Susan Rolfsmeyer of Kearney; four grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one brother, Lloyd of Cairo; and one sister, Christie Holtz of Central City.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ed, Henry, Floyd and Arthur and four sisters, Angella, Florence, Lola and Dorothy.
Luverda Long
BURWELL -- Luverda Lena Long, 85, of Burwell died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Burwell. The Rev. Mike Blatchley will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Long was born
July 10, 1914, at Burwell to William and Mary (Davis) Freeman. She attended school in Garfield County.
She married Omar Long on Sept. 8, 1936, in Or. They lived in Washington State for five years until moving back to Burwell to help her parents. They later moved back to Washington and ran a saw mill in Yakima. They returned to Burwell and then moved to Stapleton in the late 1940's. Mr. Long died on Dec. 21, 1955. In the spring of 1956 Mrs. Long moved back to Burwell.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the WMC. She worked as a homemaker, a nurses aid and other jobs. She was also active in the Burwell Senior Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary (Mrs. Marcus) Pierson of Page and Verda (Mrs. Charlie) Thoene of Burwell; two sons, Fred of North Platte and Lloyd of Aberdeen, Wash.; two brothers, Ray Freeman of South Sioux City and Milo of North Platte; one sister, Esther (Mrs. Jim) Taylor of Amelia; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers and one daughter.
Paul Klintworth
OVERTON -- Paul N. Klintworth, 71, of Overton died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Overton Methodist Church. The Rev. Cathy Cole will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Overton Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Overton Methodist Church or the Overton Rescue Unit.

Mr. Klintworth was born
June 4, 1928, at Grand Island to Nicholas J. and Anna F. (Neilsen) Klintworth. He attended school at Seedling Mile School east of Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School with the Class of 1945.
From 1950 to 1952 he served n the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended the 180th Infantry, 45th Heavy Mortar Division.
He married Joyce E. Frost on May 19, 1957. The couple lived on a farm west of Wolbach. After leaving the Wolbach area in 1963, they were involved in ranching in the Keystone, Bartlett and Overton areas.
Mr. Klintworth retired in 1990, at which time they moved to Overton on an acreage.
Mr. Klintworth enjoyed the outdoors. He liked camping, fishing and hunting. He participated in steer roping and calf roping. He was a partner in the Circle R Stock Contractors of Bartlett.
He also enjoyed taking pictures. He and his wife operated Paul's Photos and later did crafts. He was a member of the Overton United Methodist church in Overton, the Overton American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Overton.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, TeAnne (Mrs. Jim) Reed of Lexington and Ronda and (Mrs. Bob) Veal of North Platte; three sons, Nick of Moorefield, Fred of Elm Creek and Ted of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, Lois of Marquette and Gordon of St. Paul.
Willis Wescoat
LEXINGTON -- Willis C. Wescoat, 73, of Lexington, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Lexington. The Rev. David Weller will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Wescoat was born
Oct. 27, 1926, at Riverton to Charlie and Gladys (Kugler) Wescoat.
He married Eileen Schumm on Jan. 17, 1957, at Alma. The couple moved to Lexington in 1958. Mr. Wescoat farmed for Charlton Stuart, he worked for Ed Fasse at Cozad, worked at several area haymills and finished his career with Monroe's, retiring in 1992.
Following his retirement, he and his wife did yard work for many people around the Lexington area.
He enjoyed doing yard work and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Patrick and Michael, both of Lexington; four daughters, Maxine (Mrs. David) Vieth of Grand Island, Pam Wescoat of Lexington, Ruth (Mrs. Tim) Bohlen of Stockton, Ill. and Amy (Mrs. Pat) Tallon of Lincoln; one brother, Alvin of Lexington; one sister, Ethel Farrens of Smith Center, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, William.
Robert Hartmann
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Robert H. Hartman, 55, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the Audy Murphy V.A. Medical Center in San Antonio.
Services are pending with the All Faiths Funeral Home at 2929 S. Locust in Grand Island.
Robert Gershom
Robert B. "Bob" Gershom, 67, of Grand Island died Sunday, May 14, 2000.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bellevue Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gershom was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; two daughters, Toni Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Patti (Mrs. Steve) Ingalls of Omaha; two sons, Robert Jr. of Moultrie, Ga., and Jeffrey of Grand Island; six grandchildren; four brothers, James, Richard and Kenneth, all of Akron, Ohio, and Ronald of East Hartford, Conn.; and one sister, Margaret Marcum of Akron, Ohio.
