Dorothea J. 'Dottie' Vacek
HASTINGS -- Dorothea J. "Dottie" Vacek, 49, of Hastings died Monday, May 1, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Thomas Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery at Hastings.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Vacek was born
on May 16, 1950, in Campbell to Lloyd and Phyllis (Hall) Krull. She attended Roseland Grade School and Hastings pubic schools and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1968. She attended Central Community College.
She married Terry Bockstadter in August 1973. They were divorced in 1991.
She married Mark Vacek on Oct. 25, 1996. She was manager of Total Image Beauty Salon.
She was a volunteer with the Adams County Court Appointed Special Advocate program. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brent Bockstadter of McCook and Brandon Bockstadter of Kenesaw; one daughter, Alison Bockstadter of Hastings; two stepchildren, Korey Vacek and Ashley Vacek, both of Ayr; her parents, of Hastings; one brother, Gene Krull of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one sister.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dick and Florence Hall and I.O. and Tena Krull.
Edwin Volf
ORD -- Edwin E. Volf, 71, of rural Ord, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Mr. Volf's body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Jim Warner will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Dorothy Reimer
LINCOLN -- Dorothy Whittemore Reimer, 92, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons Chapel in Lincoln. The Rev. Warren C. Swartz will officiate. Burial will be in Wyuka Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before service time Thursday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln Community Foundation.
Mrs. Reimer was born
on Oct. 5, 1907, at Minneapolis to Wales H. and Ida E. (Elliott) Whittemore.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and Bryan Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Donald Reimer of Slidell, La.; three daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Don) Green of Central City, Dorothy (Mrs. Dick) Confer of Lincoln and Judy (Mrs. Jim) David of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare.
Raymond Shull
DOWNEY, Calif. -- Raymond E. Shull, 81, of Downey, Calif., died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at a local hospital after suffering a stroke.
Mr. Shull's body was cremated. Only graveside services are planned.
Mr. Shull was born
on April 23, 1919, on a farm near Archer to Ray and Ina (Anderson) Shull. He attended District 14 School and high school in Archer and Central City, graduating from Archer in 1938.
Shortly after graduation, he went to California, where he worked for the Rancho and Campbell soup companies in traffic management. He later became traffic manager for Sears locations on the West Coast and Hawaii and retired in 1981.
He married Margarete "Mickey" Duppmann-Levinson on Feb. 14, 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard of Utah; a grandson; and two brothers, Donald Shull of Grand Island and Thomas Shull of Central City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Gerald Shull.
Herman Behring
Herman H. Behring, 80, of Grand Island died Monday, May 1, 2000 at Tiffany Care Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services are pending with Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home.
Addie Langenheder
Addie S. Langenheder, 93, of Grand Island died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. A family prayer service will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School.
Mrs. Langenheder was born
on Oct. 7, 1906, at Scotia to Chris and Frieda (Sommer) Klein. She grew up and was educated in Scotia, graduating in 1927.
She married August Langenheder on March 14, 1929, in Scotia. The couple lived on a farm north of Grand Island from 1929 to 1960, when they moved into Grand Island.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ruth Society of the church, Altar Guild and the Golden Age Club. She was a member of the Grand Island Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary for 35 years and volunteered for the American Red Cross for 35 years. She loved music and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing.
Survivors include one son, Harold Langenheder of Grand Island; two daughters, Evelyn Rosenkoetter of Grand Island and Helen Carmin of Doniphan; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Herbert Klein; and two sisters, Ella (Mrs. Hugo) Malottke and Martha (Mrs. John) Stanger.
Vernon Wood
Vernon H. Wood, 74, of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Burial will be at the Souleville Cemetery in Boelus.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kleine Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
'Bob' Bohnart
SHELTON -- Robert "Bob" L. Bohnart, 62, of Shelton died Friday, April 28, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with the Rev. Ray Kosmicki officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Wood River. There will be no visitation. Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Doniphan American Legion or the donor's choice.
Mr. Bohnart was born
Oct. 13, 1937 to George and Eunice (Collins) Bohnart, and grew up on a farm north of Wood River. He attended Schappesville country school, and graduated from Wood River High School in 1956.
He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959.
He married Sharon Gideon on April 27, 1957 in Prosser. The couple lived in Doniphan. Mr. Bohnart drove a truck for Alda Propane and later owned his own sandblasting and painting business.
He married Carolyn Ellis on Nov. 4, 1990 in Wood River. At the time of his death he worked for L & N Trucking Company in Shelton.
He enjoyed his work, reading and telling stories.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorie of San Antonio, Tex., and Lisa of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Georgiann Husen of Grand Island and Martha Ellis of Arizona; four brothers, Walter, Andrew and Gary, all of Wood River, and Edward of Wisconsin; and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, his parents and one brother, Donald.
Marvin Lukasiewicz
FARWELL -- Marvin G. Lukasiewicz, 67, of Farwell died Monday, May 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell. The Rev. Larry Coulter will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery near Farwell with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service, Wednesday at the church.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Garry Wampole
KEARNEY -- Garry Wampole, 57, of 82 Valley View Trailer Court in Kearney, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 from injuries resulting from an auto accident near Opal, Wyoming on Wednesday morning.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Chapel in Kearney. Captain Dale Hixenbaugh, Captain Gordon Reed and Rev. Lee Arlington will officiate.
O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW 759 and the National Guard unit of Kearney at Elm Creek Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Evangelical Free Church of Kemmerer, Wyoming.
Mr. Wampole was born
July 14, 1942, at Ord to Donald and Doris (Badger) Wampole. He attended school in Ord and North Loup. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960.
He married Patricia Journey on July 20, 1963. They have lived in Kearney the past eight years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Hal of Grand Island and Terry of Kearney; one daughter, RaChell Merklin of Sitka, Alaska; two brothers, Terry and Darryle, both of Grand Island; a sister, Karen Smith of Ord; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
