Ruby Klinkman
CALLAWAY -- Ruby Belle Klinkman, 82, of Callaway died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with the Revs. Dennis Woodward and Cliff Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Callaway.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Memorials are suggested to the Morning Star Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Klinkman was born
on July 4, 1917, near Cozad to Luther and Rosa (Ashley) Copass. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1934 and received her teaching degree from Kearney State College in 1963. She taught for 43 years in Dawson and Custer County rural schools and also in the Gothenberg and Callaway city schools.
She married Roy Klinkman on June 4, 1941, at the Morning Star Methodist Church near Callaway. The couple lived in Callaway for most of their lives.
Mrs. Klinkman was a member of the Morning Star Methodist Church, the church's Women's Society, a past member of many teachers organizations, Sack Time Campers Club, Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Gayle Klinkman of Broken Bow and Eugene Klinkman of Lincoln; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Letitia Whaley
BROKEN BOW -- Letitia Whaley, 82, of Broken Bow died Thursday, March 16, 2000 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Sand Valley Cemetery southwest of Callaway. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials have been established to the Callaway Public Library and the Callaway Rural Fire Department.
Mrs. Whaley was born
May 16, 1917 in York to Albert and Elizabeth (Prohaska) Waldron. She attended country school and graduated from York High School in 1936.
On Jan. 23, 1941, she married H.C. "Mike" Whaley in San Diego, where the couple lived while Mr. Whaley was in the armed services.
They later returned to the farm southwest of Callaway in the Sand Valley community.
In 1986 they moved into Callaway.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting with neighbors and friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Mrs. Howard) Taylor of Blair; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Martin Knapp
OMAHA -- Martin L. Knapp, 92, of Omaha, died March 11, 2000, in Omaha.
Services were Tuesday at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha. The Rev. James M. Cunningham officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Omaha.
Mr. Knapp was born
May 22, 1907, to John and Laura (Goodrich) Knapp at Palmer. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1925.
He married Gladys Timmerman in 1954. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Knapp died in 1995.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Doris Thomas
Doris G. Thomas, 82, of Tabor, Iowa, formerly of North Loup, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at the Tabor Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the North Loup United Methodist Church. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the North Loup United Methodist Church.
Gordon Wiemers
Gordon G. Wiemers, 57, of 724 W. First St. died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney. The Rev. Bonnie Perkins will officiate. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
Mr. Wiemers was born
July 24, 1942, at Poole to Rudolph and Bertha (Buchmann) Wiemers. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1960. He attended Kearney State College.
He married Janet Juett on June 21, 1967, in Kearney. The couple moved to Ord in 1969, where Mr. Wiemers worked as a nurse's assistant. They later moved to Grand Island in 1985, where he worked at various nursing homes until retirement.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Wiemers of Grand Island; three daughters, Anitta Perkins of Cottage Grove, Minn., Anna Wert of Aurora and Jamie Nolan of Guam; four grandchildren; and a brother, Orville Wiemers of Valencia, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harvey Adamson
RAVENNA -- Harvey Adamson, 79, of Ravenna died Friday, March 10, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Congregational Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church. Rasmussen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Adamson was born
Sept. 11, 1920, at Newman Grove to David and Olive (Pospisil) Adamson. He graduated from Newman Grove High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 22, 1942, until Feb. 17, 1946. He was involved in the European theater.
He married Thelma Larson on March 13, 1943, in Denver, Colo. The couple lived in Ravenna, where they owned and operated a grocery and meat market for 27 years. Mr. Adamson also was a rural mail carrier for 30 years and served as the mayor of Ravenna.
He was a member of the Congregational Church and served on the church council.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, farming and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Ravenna; two daughters, Sharon Metcalfe of Plano, Texas, and Jane Poole of Ravenna; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Don of Blair, Dale of Grants Pass, Ore., William of Redding, Calif., and Dean of Fontana, Calif.; four sisters, Janet Abedor of Santa Ana, Calif., Jean Ertel of Azusa, Calif., Ruth Theissen of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Gwen Morrel of Tustin, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a brother, DeWayne.
Esther Bussell
SCOTIA -- Esther M. Bussell, 95, of Scotia died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Scotia United Methodist Church. The Revs. Melanie Adams and Dr. A.K. Saul will officiate. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia United Methodist Women's Missions Fund or the Scotia Rescue Unit.
'Gene' Fowler
HORDVILLE -- Milburn Eugene "Gene" Fowler, 73, of Hordville died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Darryl Keeney will officiate. Burial will be in Hordville Cemetery.
Mr. Fowler was born
Sept. 5, 1926, to Joseph and Margaret (Wilison) Fowler in Phillips. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945.
He married Iola Bengston on May 5, 1949. They lived in Hordville where he began Fowler Construction. He operated his carpenter business until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Hordville Volunteer Fire Department and received a 35-year plaque in 1992. He was a member of Polk American Legion for more than 50 years. He enjoyed animals and raised angora sheep, donkeys, geese and horses. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randy of Central City and Ron and Murray, both of Hordville; three daughters, Marla (Mrs. Trevor) Hansen of York, Rita Fowler of Aurora and Becky (Mrs. Keith) Green of Somers, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Merlyn of Hordville and one sister, Clover Jones of Central City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and an infant brother.
Alvin Klinkacek
RAVENNA -- Alvin Klinkacek, 72, of Ravenna died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate. Burial will be at the Sodtown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Mr. Klinkacek was born
Dec. 23, 1927, at St. Michael to Joe and Ruth (Schmidt) Klinkacek. He attended school at District No. 52 and St. Michael High School.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He married Patty Cudaback on July 14, 1980, in Grand Island.
He farmed in the Sodtown area all of his life.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Patty of Ravenna; two sons, Mark and Thomas, both of Omaha; two daughters, Joanna Thompson of Texas and Pam Rogers of Chadron; three stepchildren; six grandchildren; a brother, Lester Klinkacek of Cairo; and a sister, Josephine Denman of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
