Sister Marion Rotherham, 75

(March 3) ALLIANCE - Sister Marion Rotherham, 75, died Saturday, March 4, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

She was born June, 1, 1924, at Ewing. Her parents were Michael and Mary Teresa (Kalhoff) Rotherham.

She entered the convent in Denver in 1945 and professed her vows on August 17, 1946, at Marycrest in Denver, Colo.

Her survivors include her five sisters, Lucille Rotherham, Connie McNabb, Cleta Lofquest, all of Norfolk, Mary Lou Streeter of Lincoln and Patricia Roth Koslowski of Oswega, Oreg.

She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her parents, five half-brothers, two half-sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Bryan Ernest and Father Tim Stoner officiating.

Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.

A wake service was Sunday evening at Marion Hall.

Memorials may be given in care of Sisters of St. Francis, 1104 Toluca, Alliance, NE 69301.

Mollie E. Schommer, 84

(March 3) NORTH PLATTE - Mollie E. Schommer, 84, died Saturday, March 4, at Linden Court Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Stockton, New South Wales, Australia.

She was a member of B.P.O. Does Drove No. 2 of Chadron, American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Altar Society.

Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Schommer of Oelrichs, S.D.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tom McQuade of North Platte; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 2 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chadron with Father Ed Cortney officiating.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary service will be held Monday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chadron.

A memorial has been established for Macular Degeneration Research Foundation. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel. P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

William A. Hamilton, 78

(March 3) OELRICHS, S.D. - William A. Hamilton, 78, died Saturday, March 4, at Crestview Care Center.

He was born March 7, 1921, in Oelrichs, S.D. His parents were Delbert and Lillian (Wall) Hamilton.

He was a member of the Oelrichs Volunteer Fire Department.

His survivors include his wife Carol of Oelrichs, S.D.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Moniker Hamilton of Denver, Colo.

He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Hayes.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, march 8, at 10 a.m., at Oelrichs Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in the Oelrichs Cemetery at a later date as a private family committal.

A memorial has been established for the Oelrichs Ambulance Fund or the Oelrichs Methodist Church. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Sandy K. Sautter, 43

(March 3) ALLIANCE - Sandy K. Sautter, 43, died Sunday, March 5, at Box Butte General Hospital.

She was born Jan. 25, 1957, to Donald and Harriette (Edwards) Stull in Alliance.

She was married to David J. Sautter on Nov. 8, 1975, at Mullen. He survives at the home.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, where she was also a member of the Bell Choir, P.E.O., Leadership Box Butte, and a past Guardian Secretary of the Job's Daughter's.

Her survivors include her husband of Alliance; two daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Bill Mazanec and Elizabeth Sautter, all of Alliance; two sons, Michael Sautter of Lincoln and Stephen Sautter of Alliance; and her parents, Donald and Harriette Stull of Kimball.

She is also survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Tracy Stull of Phoenix, Ariz. and Greg and Penny Stull of Kimball; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dick Hoffman of McCook; grandmother, Dorothy Stull of Alliance and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two grandfathers, one father-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 8, 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Reverends Mark Schutt and Ray Shepard officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church or to the donor's choice.

Charles Edger McGuffey, 76

(March 2) CHADRON - Charles Edger McGuffey, 76, died Monday, Feb. 28, at Ponderosa Villa of Crawford.

He was born June 1, 1923.

He was a member of the Chadron Senior Center.

His survivors include his three sons, James McGuffey of Florida, Jessie McGuffey and Sammy McGuffey , both of Rapid City, S.D.; four daughters, Bobbie Ann Gaswick of Milhani, Hawaii, Terri L. Wait of Chadron, Judy Pilton of Florida and Ruby Salser of Birmingham, Alabama; and eight grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Maw Cooper of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran with Pastor Alan Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established and donation may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron.

Octave F.H. Hanley, 81

(March 2) HARRISON - Octave F.H. Hanley, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, at his home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Curly. His parents were James and Ida Hanley.

He was a member of the VFW, Eagles Club, Volunteer Fire Department, Ponderosa Villa Auxiliary. He was a 4-H leader for 20 years, Harrison Bible Church and the Historical Society.

His survivors include his wife, Opal of Harrison; son, Martin Hanley of Harrison; three daughters, Mary Bell of Harrison, Audrey Holland of Van Couver, Wash., Loreta Hanley of Harrison; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by six brothers, James Hanley of Roseville, Calif., Robert Sopher of Kissimmee, Flor., Jack Sopher of National City, Calif., Joe Sopher of San Diego, Calif., Earl Sopher of San Diego, Calif. and Leo Sopher of Norfolk, Virginia and one sister, Dorothy Clark of San Diego, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at the Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Pastor Don Mathis and Pastor Matt Parker officiating.

Burial will be in the Harrison Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Harrison or Crawford Ambulance fund, Harrison Bible Church or the donor's choice. Donations may be sent to the Security First Bank of Harrison, Box 216, Harrison, NE.

Rosemary Kooper, 73

(June 15) ALLIANCE - Rosemary Kooper died Wednesday, June 14, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance. She was 73.

She was born June 16, 1926 at Valparaiso, the daughter of William and Marie (Kohout) Kubik.

She came to the Alliance area in 1949.

On Nov. 18, 1950 she was married to Edward Kooper at Wahoo.

She worked as a secretary for the Reddish Law Office and later as a

bookkeeper for Howard Curtiss, CPA. She also worked with her husband in the operation of their ranch south of Alliance. They retired in 1986 and moved into Alliance. They have spent the winter months in Texas.

Rosemary was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women's Golf Association.

Her survivors are her husband, Edward, sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Clara Kooper of Lakewood, Colo., John and Cindy Kooper of Sheridan, Wyo. Grandchildren, Merredith and Lexi Kooper of Sheridan, and Brett Kooper of Anchorage, Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Adeline.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance. Father Tim Stoner will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

A wake service will be Friday, June 16 at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church.

Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Church, 1104 Cheyenne, Alliance, NE 69301 or Carnegie Arts Center, P.O. Box 375, Alliance or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Walter Henry Schulze, 90

(June 15) ALLIANCE - Walter H. Schulze, 90, died Wednesday, June 14, at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 26, 1909, at Emerald. his parents were Albert and Caroline (Nobis) Schulze.

He moved to Yuma, Colo. and then to Alliance in 1927.

He married Jacquline Pahlow on June 11, 1941. They made there home in Alliance where he farmed and operated Schulze's Dairy until 1972 when he sold the dairy cattle. He then raised range cattle until his retirement in 1990.

He was a charter member of St. John's United Lutheran Church.

His survivors include his daughter and husband Sharon and Joe Ryan of Berlin, Wisc.; son and wife, Warner and Michele Schulze of Alliance; sister, Frieda Krohn of Gering; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Loretta Hood.

His wife, parents, brothers, Werner and Arnold and son Dwain preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Alliance. Rev. Kent Bryant officiating.

Burial will be held in the Alliance Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Church, Good Samaritan, Prairie Haven Hospice or to the Senior Citizen Center.
