Shirley Rouse

Shirley Ann Rouse, 57, of Grand Island, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kleine Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Osborne, Kan., Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Rouse was born icon Nov. 2, 1942, in Iowa to Ore and Margaurite (Boyd) Juncker. She graduated from Ames, Iowa, High School and from beauty school.

She married Leslie "Les" W. Rouse Sr. on June 17, 1962, in Ames. The couple made their home in Ames and then in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before moving to Lincoln. In Lincoln, Mrs. Rouse worked for the Child Protective Services. The couple moved to Grand Island four years ago.

She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed working with silk flowers and interior decorating. She spent much of her time with her church work and helping others.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Leslie Rouse Jr. of Lincoln; a brother, Jerry Juncker of Elmwood and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Rouse and a brother, Ed Juncker.

Al Augustyn

LOUP CITY -- Alfonso "Al" J. Augustyn, 84, of Loup City died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services are pending with the Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.

Rachel Coulter

ALBION -- Rachel E. Coulter, 91, of Albion died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.

Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

Arlene Kestler

FULLERTON -- Arlene R. Kestler, 62, of Blaine, Minn., formerly of Fullerton, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at her home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Timothy White will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kestler was born icon Sept.. 28, 1937, in Walcott, Iowa, to Colen and Hilda (Ehlers) Garlock. She attended Blue Grass No. 2 School and graduated from Davenport Central High School. She also attended Longview College.

She married Alvin R. Kestler on March 3, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa. She raised a family and worked in an accounting office, as a co-truck driver, a receptionist, in manufacturing and as a dietary assistant.

Mrs. Kestler was a member of the Legion Junior Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, gardening and watching sports.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Roy of Lincoln; two daughters, Debra (Mrs. Charlie) Volz of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Linda (Mrs. Mike) Hayness of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Walter Garlock of Davenport, Iowa, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lewis and Henry, both of Iowa.

Merton Bilslend Merton A. Bilslend, 92, of Grand Island, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Beulah McCulla

Beulah B. McCulla, 83, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Tiffany Square.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Cairo Senior Center.

Mrs. McCulla was born icon June 9, 1916, at Cairo to George and Barbara (Prochaska) Hulme. She grew up at Cairo and graduated from Cairo High School in 1934. She received her teaching certificate from Kearney State College. She taught at several schools in the Cairo and Grand Island area.

She married Wayne McCulla on May 29, 1948, in Grand Island. Mr. McCulla worked for Platte Valley Construction and the couple lived in several cities in Nebraska, Wyoming and Minnesota. They moved to Grand Island in 1973. Mr. McCulla died on Aug. 19, 1993.

Survivors include a brother, Everett Hulme of Bellevue and a nephew, Doyle Hulme of Grand Island.

Shirley Rouse

Shirley Ann Rouse, 57, of Grand Island died Friday, April 21, 2000, at St. Francis Skilled Care.

Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Cuba

KEARNEY -- Elizabeth M. Cuba, 86, of Kearney, formerly of Genoa, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at the Mount Carmel Home in Kearney, where she had lived for a year and a half.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. The Rev. Robert H. Nienaber will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at Genoa.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Mount Carmel Home.

Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cuba was born icon on Aug. 2, 1913, in McCurtain, Okla., to Anthony and Michaelena (Frankoviak) Ciekowski.

She married Phillip L. Cuba on Aug. 13, 1930, in Genoa. They farmed in the Genoa area. She moved to Kearney in September 1998.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Mrs. Donald) McDonnell of Piscataway, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Cuba of Kearney; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marcella Ciekowski of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Phillip J. Cuba; and five sisters.

Fern Eveland

BURWELL -- Fern LaVaun Eveland, 83, of Burwell died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Minneapolis, Minn.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be one hour before service time at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Eveland was born icon Feb. 5, 1917, at Page County, Iowa to Charles and Cora (Woldruff) Ridenour. At the age of five, her family moved to a ranch north of Thedford. They later moved to a ranch south of Seneca. Mrs. Eveland attended rural schools in the Seneca area and graduated from Seneca High School in 1935.

She married Fred Eveland on May 15, 1935, in Thedford. They ranched in Sheridan County for 50 years. After retiring, they moved to Idaho until Mr. Eveland's death on July 26, 1984. Mrs. Eveland then moved back to Nebraska.

She was a nurse at the Gordon Memorial Hospital and the Lutheran Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Lindal (Mrs. Cecil) Martin of Eden Prairie, Minn.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma (Mrs. Clair) Tinnell of Osceola, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

David Sartain

BURWELL -- David William "D.W." Sartain Jr., 70, of Burwell died Friday, April 21, 2000, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Burwell. The Rev. Jane Ellefson will officiate. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.

Dylan Van Pelt

PHILLIPS -- Dylan Dwaine Van Pelt, 11 months old, of Phillips, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Children's Hospital - Rainbow House in Omaha.

Dylan Van Pelt was born icon May 4, 1999 to Daniel and Tonya (Smith) Van Pelt at Grand Island.

He enjoyed being outside and playing with his sister, Taylor.

Survivors include his parents and sister, all of Phillips; paternal grandparents, Dwaine and Carmen Van Pelt of Archer; maternal grandparents, Warren and Norma Smith of Central City; paternal great-grandparents, Leonard and Vera Van Pelt of Archer; maternal great-grandparents, Ward and Helen Smith of Central City and Vera Keller of Hastings.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Marian Van Pelt; paternal great-grandparents, Wesley and Hilda Anderson and maternal great-grandfather, Clifford Keller.

Evelyn Troshynski

ATKINSON -- Evelyn Mae Troshynski, 62, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Atkinson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be at the Fullerton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Troshynski was born icon Oct. 20, 1937, at Fullerton to Walter T. and Pearl M. (Boardman) Roark.

She was a nursing home administrator.

She married Michael Damien Troshynski on Feb. 12, 1977, in Ainsworth.

Survivors include her husband of Stuart; a daughter, Dixie (Mrs. Gerald) Zoucha of Kenesaw; a son, Steve McCray of Altus, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Jill Troshynski Pacha of Beattie, Kan.; two sisters, Marilyn (Mrs. Bill) Allington of Crofton and Beverly (Mrs. Gary) Kenyon of Laurel, Mont.; five grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
