Arlene Kestler
BLAINE, Minn. -- Arlene R. Kestler, 62, of Blaine, Minn., formerly of Fullerton, died Thursday, April 20, at her home in Minnesota.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Timothy White will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Beulah McCulla
Beulah B. McCulla, 83, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Tiffany Square.
Services are pending at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
John Murphy
John E. Murphy, 72, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services are pending at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Marjorie Zook
Marjorie A. Zook, 87, of Grand Island died Thursday. April 20, 2000, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Zook was born
on June 18, 1912, at Wymore to Edwin and Frances (Cumpston) Hughes. She grew up and was educated at Wymore and graduated from Wymore High School.
She married Clyde M. Zook on June 3, 1934, at Wymore. The couple lived in Wymore. They moved to Grand Island in 1952. Mr. Zook died on July 8, 1981.
Mrs. Zook was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
She was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs. She was a member of the Liederkranz, Eagles Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She and Mr. Zook enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Hermes of Grand Island; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark; and a granddaughter.
Fern Eveland
BURWELL -- Fern LaVaun Eveland, 83, of Burwell, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Minneapolis, Minn., from injuries suffered in a fall while visiting her daughter and family.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church or meals on wheels.
Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Harold Linden
LITCHFIELD -- Harold Linden, 88, of Litchfield died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gabriel's Church in Hazard. The Rev. Loren Pohlmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Litchfield Cemetery.
A Christian wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the cemetery.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Linden was born
on Aug. 22, 1911, in Omaha to Frank and Nora (Bender) Linden. He attended District 116 School in Buffalo County.
He married Cecilia Miodowski on May 22, 1939, in Hazard. The couple lived on a farm southwest of Litchfield. Mrs. Linden died on Oct. 21, 1975.
Mr. Linden married Grace Runge in 1978, and the couple lived in Litchfield. She died on May 9, 1994.
He was a caretaker of the Litchfield Cemetery for several years.
Survivors include one daughter, Eva (Mrs. John) Eckhout of Amherst; one son, Richard Linden of Litchfield; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Frankie Linden of Pleasanton; and one sister, Ruby Smith of Litchfield.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Ruth Schuldt
CENTRAL CITY -- Ruth Mildred Schuldt, 95, of Central City died on Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Long-term Care in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Congregational Church in Clarks. The Rev. Darryl Keeney will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Schuldt was born
on Oct. 6, 1904, in Fargo, N.D., to Andrew Sherman and Rebecca E. (Davis) Baker. She grew up near Palmer and attended Nance County rural schools. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1922 and attended Kearney State Teachers College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She taught in Belgrade and Silver Creek for six years.
She married Frank W. Schuldt on Dec. 28, 1926, in Columbus. They lived in Silver Creek for a year and a half before moving to Clarks to operate their trucking and grain storage business. Mr. Schuldt died on Nov. 1, 1987.
Mrs. Schuldt moved to Merrick Manor in Central City in 1997 and to Long-term Care in 1999.
She was clerk and treasurer of the First Congregational Church of Clarks. She was president of Woman's Fellowship and helped with the Girl Scouts. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Ivy Chapter 210 at Clarks, served as secretary for more than 40 years, was a past worthy matron, grand representative and charter member of the Past Matrons Club. She was also a charter member of the Clarks Lady Lions Club, a longtime member of the Research Club and the Women's Club in Clarks.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing bridge.
Survivors include her half sister, Geneva Baker of Lincoln; and a niece, Kathleen Schott of Silver Creek.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Vern Baker, Robert Baker, Othal Baker and Harold Baker; and four sisters, Anna Holmes, Enola McCray, Myrtle White and Ione Pickerel.
Dylan VanPelt
PHILLIPS -- Dylan Dwaine VanPelt, 11 months, of Phillips died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Children's Hospital Rainbow House in Omaha.
Arlene Kestler

Donald McClure
JOSHUA, Texas -- Donald McClure, 84, of Joshua, Texas, formerly of Giltner, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Joshua.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Giltner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mr. McClure was born
on Feb. 13, 1916, at Iroquois, Ill., to Edward S. and Mabel (Fox) McClure. He grew up in the Giltner area and graduated from Giltner High School and the University of Nebraska.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for three years during World War II.
He then worked for the U.S. government as a soil scientist, mainly working on Indian reservations. He worked for the U.S. government at Fort Carson, Colo., before retiring and moving to Salem, Ore. Later, due to ill health, he moved to Texas to be nearer his brother.
Survivors include his brother, Delbert of Joshua, Texas; and a sister, Florence Bunte of Oxnard, Calif.
Paul Wieck
WASHINGTON -- Paul R. Wieck, 72, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Va.
Memorial services will be on April 29 at Joseph Gawler's Sons in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Wieck was a Nebraska native and grew up on a farm outside Grand Island. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and briefly attended law school.
He worked as a reporter and managing editor of the Rawlins, Wyo., Daily Times in the late 1950s and joined the Albuquerque Journal in 1961 and became chief of its Washington bureau. He retired from the newspaper in 1991.
Mr. Wieck was elected to the Gridiron Club and was a member of the Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, in Washington.
He enjoyed gardening and entertaining around the swimming pool in his back yard.
He leaves no survivors.
