Margaret Imus
COQUILLE, Ore. -- Margaret Olga Imus, 101, of Coquille, Ore., formerly of Albion, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the Country Gardens Senior Residence in Coquille.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion. The Rev. Neal Von Seggern will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Imus was born
on Aug. 26, 1898, at Leigh to Nickolas and Matilda (Richards) Warken. The family moved to Boone County in 1903 and settled on a farm near Primrose. She was educated at District 59 School.
She worked as a telephone operator in Albion for several years.
She married Clarence Imus on March 11, 1925, at the Zion Lutheran parsonage in Albion. They farmed in the Belgrade and Primrose areas for 14 years. They moved to Albion in 1939. Her husband in 1978.
Mrs. Imus moved to National City, Calif., in 1982 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. They both retired in 1987, and they all moved to Coquille, Ore. By 1998, her health was failing, and she moved to Country Garden Estates Senior Residence.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, ALCW women's serving group and women's mission sewing groups.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Bob) Graham of California; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Ella Killian, Alma Riech, Lillie Smith, Lula Schmidt and Hilda Warken.
Ardean Paneitz
Ardean Paneitz, 67, of Grand Island died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at St. Francis Skilled Care.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Bremer will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mr. Paneitz was born
on Dec. 6, 1932, at Hampton to Walter and Ella (Holtzen) Paneitz. He grew up near Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He returned to Hampton to farm with his father.
He married Norma Jean Lentz on April 8, 1956, in Aurora. They lived on the farm for 11 years. He went to work for New Holland in Grand Island as a welder in 1965. They moved to Grand Island in 1967. He worked for New Holland for 27 years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 53 in Grand Island and Grace Lutheran Church, where he held many offices. He loved horses, hunting, fishing, farm sales and working in his shop.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Amy Paneitz of Kearney; one brother, LaVern Paneitz of York; and one sister, Delores (Mrs. Delysle) Meyers of Grand Island.
Ruth Bott
HASTINGS -- Ruth C. Bott, 88, of Hastings died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Doniphan. The Rev. John Hawkins will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull.
Rosary services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Doniphan.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children's Home Society or to the family.
Mrs. Bott was born
on Dec. 4, 1911, at Clay County to John and Mary (Hein) Herzog. She graduated from Trumbull High School.
She married John Bott on July 18, 1942, in California. He died on April 23, 1962.
Mrs. Bott was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, M. Jane (Mrs. Bruce) Craig of Waverly; and two grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Esther Bussell
SCOTIA -- Esther M. Bussell, 95, of Scotia died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Hamilton Manor at Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Scotia United Methodist Church. The Revs. Melanie Adams and A.K. Saul will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Scotia.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia United Methodist Women's Missions Fund or the Scotia Rescue Unit. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bussell was born
on March 23, 1904, at Wolbach to Nels J. and Mary (Mikkelson) Nelson. She attended school at Wolbach.
She married Darold E. Bussell on Feb. 2, 1922, at Wolbach. They farmed near O'Connor and Wolbach until 1939, when they moved to a farm northwest of Scotia.
Mr. Bussell died in 1980. Mrs. Bussell moved into Scotia in 1983, to Riverside Lodge in Grand Island in 1998 and to Hamilton Manor in Aurora in 1999.
As a Greeley County Agricultural Adjustment Administration field woman in the 1940s, she advised farmers on conservation and collecting metal for war use. She corresponded with Eleanor Roosevelt about a planned trip to Nebraska, but the trip was canceled.
In the Nebraska Community Improvement Program, she received the 1973 Nebraska Leadership Award and, as chairwoman in 1978, received the First Place Award. She acquired funds for the Scotia swimming pool, tennis court and Chalk Hills Manor Housing Project.
She was a 60-year member of the Scotia United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She held local and district offices including president of the District WSCS United Methodist Women's Organization. She was a Scotia Gardening Club member.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Charles) Combe of Ogden, Utah, and Berniece (Mrs. Harold) Reck of Lompoc, Calif.; two sons, DeWayne of North Loup and Jack of Overland Park, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Nelsen of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie, Marie and Mabel; and five brothers, George, Louie, Otto, Arthur and Andy.
Joan Ewers
ST. PAUL -- Joan L. Ewers, 72, of St. Paul died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Michael McDermott will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service, Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice.

Mrs. Ewers was born
on March 22, 1927, at Palmer to Mervin and Gertrude (Mulligan) Stone. As a child, she moved with her family to St. Paul. She attended St. Paul public schools and graduated from St. Paul High School 1944. She worked at the telephone company in St. Paul.
She married Don Ewers on July 22, 1946, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm south of St. Paul throughout their marriage.
Mrs. Ewers enjoyed singing, cooking, playing cards and praying.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She was a former church musician and choir director.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dan of Grand Island, Jim of Hastings and Gary of Columbus; two daughters, Mary Jane Molt of Grand Island and Susan (Mrs. Wayne) Knapp of St. Paul; 15 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Johnson; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Robert Stone; and two sisters, Helen Courtney and Georgina Weber.
Janice James
SARGENT -- Ruth Janice James, 92, of Sargent died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Jenny M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
She was cremated, and there will be a private service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent.
Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. James was born
on April 9, 1907, in Unadilla to Forrest J. and Bertha L. (Yeigh) Abbott. She attended school in Sargent and graduated from Sargent High School in 1926. She spent two years at the University of Nebraska and then taught school for three years.
She married David E. James on June 13, 1932. They lived in Sargent for many years.
She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Richard of Issiquah, Wash.; a daughter, Judy Gruber of Sargent; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Abbott of Sargent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Arthur Senkbeil
AURORA -- Arthur Senkbeil, 95, of Aurora died Sunday, March 12, 2000.
Services are pending with Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

Viola Bugay
FULLERTON -- Viola A. Bugay, 92, of Fullerton died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be at the Fullerton Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Memorials are suggested to the Fullerton Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Bugay was born
Dec. 9, 1907, to Gustav and Anna (Drozd) Drozd near Duncan. She grew up in the Duncan area and attended Duncan School.
She married Loney Bugay on Oct. 2, 1928. They farmed by Monroe and then moved to Nance County where they lived and farmed west of Fullerton. Mr. Bugay died Nov. 29, 1962.
Mrs. Bugay moved to Fullerton where she lived until her death. She worked at Clara's Cafe for several years and at the Fullerton hospital as a cook.
She was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Society of Fullerton. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Kearney and Ronald of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Laska of Genoa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Knopik; four brothers, Alex, Tony, Charles and Frank Drozd; and three sisters, Laura Cerny, Mary Ziemba and Elizabeth Alexander.
