Frank Jonak Jr.
LOUP CITY -- Frank E. Jonak Jr., 58, of Loup City, died Saturday, March 4, 2000 at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Following the services Mr. Jonak's body will be donated to Creighton University.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7:30 vigil service. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Peters Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Jonak was born
Jan. 11, 1942 at Ashton to Frank E. and Agnes (Grudzinski) Jonak. He attended Ashton area schools and graduated from Ashton High in 1959. After graduation he worked on the family farm with his father.
He married Sharon K. Suntych on Sept. 8, 1962 at Farwell. The couple farmed near Ashton until 1968 when they moved to Ashton where Frank was the village policeman and a custom haymover. The couple owned and operated the 69 Club Bar and Grill in Ashton from the late 1970's until 1984, when Mr. Jonak moved to Grand Island.
He married Rosalee H. Robertson on June 27, 1992 at Grand Island. Mr. Jonak worked for Werner Construction until 1996 when ill health forced him to retire. The couple moved to Lexington. In 1997 he moved to Loup City.
He enjoyed playing cards, carpentry and dancing.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and served as a eucharistic minister as well as participating in the Quest small group. He also was a member of the Befriender's of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Lexington, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 378 of Grande Island and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include five daughters, Kim (Mrs. Clayton) Stelk of Grand Island, Rhonda (Mrs. Robert) Barker and Lynette (Mrs. Robert) Larchick, both of Loup City, Vicky (Mrs. Lee) Bellows of Katy, Tex. and Stacie (Mrs. Walter) Dawkins of Seward; one stepson, Adrian Robertson of Oconto; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Isadore, Ted and Larry, all of Grand Island; three sisters, AlMarie (Mrs. Clarence) Persak and Esther (Mrs. Milton) Ambrose, both of St. Paul and Elaine (Mrs. John) Dart of Los Gatos, Calif.; and his former wives, Sharon of Ashton and Rosalee of Oconto.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Eugene.
Frank Santin
FULLERTON -- Frank W. Santin, 93, of Fullerton died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be at the Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton.
Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Santin was born
March 17, 1906, to F.W. and Albina (Zeaman) Santin on the family farm near Palmer. He attended District 61 School and Grand Island Business College.
He married Emma Beranek on Sept. 17, 1932, at Ord. They owned and operated farms southwest of Fullerton until he retired in 1972. They then moved to Fullerton. Mrs. Santin died in June 1977.
He was past director of District 55 School. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fullerton. He served as clerk of West Newman Township. He was on the Co-op board. He was past director and president of the Nance County Fair Board and the Irrigation Board.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Tatters and the Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing, traveling and flying his own piper cub plane.
Survivors include one daughter Eileen (Mrs. Garry) Santin Kilday of Cincinnati, Ohio and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Robert and three sisters, Emma Prokop, Albie Black and Mary Chaloupka.
Martin Yrkoski
SILVER CREEK -- Martin Yrkoski, 81, of Silver Creek died Friday, March 3, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Clarks. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday with a vigil at 7 p.m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek.
Glenn Haubold
Glenn E. Haubold, 72, of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Haubold was born
Nov. 28, 1927, at Palmer to Charles and Edna M. (Berry) Haubold. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1945.
He married Annie Mae Rasmussen on April 18, 1946, at Smith Center, Kan.
Mr. Haubold worked for the Burlington Railroad and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant for a short time. He then began driving trucks for the Rainbow Bakery, Herman Brothers, Inc. and for Central Transportation. He retired in the early 1990s.
He was a member of the teamsters and was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
He enjoyed watching football and Nascar races, his dogs and his John Deere collectibles.
Survivors include his wife of Grand Island; four sons, Robert of Lewisville, Texas, Gene of Rifle, Colo., Bill of Loup City and John of Kearney; four daughters, Wanda (Mrs. Jerry) McCurdy of Streator, Ill., Waunita (Mrs. Rolland) Dimmitt of Grand Island, Carol (Mrs. John) Seymour of Smithville, Mo. and Kellie States of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Verna Haubold of Loveland, Colo.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie; and a sister, Ella.
Thelma Stevens
Thelma M. Stevens, 89, of Grand Island, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center of Grand Island.
Mrs. Stevens was cremated. Burial of her ashes will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
There are no services planned.
Mrs. Stevens was born
Feb. 9, 1911, to Harry and Inas (Schorf) Lawrey at Grand Island.
She married Frank Stevens on Sept. 30, 1932 at Grand Island. She was employed by Margaret Tucker and Hazel Williams Nursing Homes. She also baby-sat and ironed clothing. Mr. Stevens died in 1977.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Survivors include one son, Paul Stevens of Ord; one grandchild; and one brother, Delbert Lawrey of Yuma City, Calif.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters and three brothers.
Manmi Vilai
Manmi Vilai, 78, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel.
Manmi Vilai was born
May 8, 1921, in Laos. She grew up and received her education in Yoihai, Laos. She came to the United States in March of 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Panh Bondasak of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Bell Nienhueser
HASTINGS -- Bell F. Nienhueser, 77, of Hastings, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings. The Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Further visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Nienhueser was born
Oct. 6, 1922, in Holstein to Olaf and Martha Petersen. She attended school in Holstein and graduated from Holstein High School in 1940.
She married Wilfred H. Nienhueser on May 25, 1941, at Wanda Lutheran Church in rural Adams County. They lived and farmed in the Holstein area until Mr. Nienhueser retired eight years ago and the couple moved to Hastings. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Larry of Gunnison, Colo.; one daughter, Barbara Johnson of Ord; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Woodrow Petersen of Holstein.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Arlen Bourn
OMAHA -- Arlen George Bourn, 63, of Omaha, formerly of Belgrade, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Omaha. The Rev. Ken Vivrana will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Thursday at the church.
Additional services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Larry Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in the main cemetery at Belgrade.
Visitation in Fullerton will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Bourn was born
Feb. 8, 1937, to Howard and Inez (Foland) Bourn in Belgrade. He grew up in Belgrade, graduating from Belgrade High School in 1955.
In 1955 Mr. Bourn started working for Northwestern Bell Telephone as a lineman and installer. He worked for 39 years in Grand Island, western Nebraska and the Omaha areas.
He married Carolyn Vanderloop on April 9, 1957 in Chadron. In 1958 they moved to Omaha.
He enjoyed fishing, wood working, gardening and camping.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Micheal, Patrick, Douglas and Daniel of Omaha; one daughter, Shana of Omaha; his mother of Fullerton; one brother, Lloyd of Schuyler; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Anna Stricker-Fleharty
PLATTSMOUTH -- Anna Stricker-Fleharty, 53, of Plattsmouth, died Feb. 23, 2000, at Plattsmouth.
Memorial services were held Feb. 26 at Roby Funeral Home at Plattsmouth.
Mrs. Stricker-Fleharty was born
March 11, 1946, at Berlin-Templhof, Germany to Adam and Stefanie (Wienkowski) Stricker. She grew up received her education in Germany and attended trade school there.
She worked for a time and then married James Moynihan in Germany. With Mr. Moynihan in the U.S. Air Force, she lived at Loring AFB, Maine, Denver and Bindlach, Germany and then at Omaha.
After the couple separated she worked as a sales associate for K-Mart Corporation from 1978 to 1999, when she retired due to failing health.
On April 21, 1988, she married Stephen "Terry" Fleharty in Omaha. They lived in Omaha and later moved to Buccaneer Bay at Plattsmouth in 1997.
She was a member of the German-American Sanger Chor, Voices of Omaha and the Nebraska Wanderfreunde of Omaha.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Stephanie H. Moynihan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Michael of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Deborah (Mrs. Robert) Musgrove of League City, Texas and Christina (Mrs. Garen) Kissner of Cottage Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren; one sister, Sophie Stricker of Berlin, Germany; and two brothers, Johannes Stricker of Kienberg, Germany and Karl Stricker of Berlin, Germany.
