Edgar Hartman

Edgar T. Hartman, 85, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Mr. Hartman's body was cremated, and burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hartman was born icon on June 6, 1914, at Blue Hill to Herman and Martha (Loeffelbein) Hartman. After his father's death, the family moved to Grand Island in 1923. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Grand Island public schools and then worked for the Fairmont Creamery.

He married Florence Cox on Jan. 18, 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 29, 1942, and served in Normandy, the northern Rhineland and central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged on Oct. 23, 1945.

He managed the Pure Food Grocery Store on Fourth Street from 1946 until his retirement in 1975. Mrs. Hartman died on April 23, 1972.

Mr. Hartman married Jean Reinke on Jan. 19, 1974.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Schneider of Longmont, Colo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin, Walter and Oscar; and two sisters, Hattie Hartman and Irene Elledge.

Edwina Haggerty

SPALDING -- Edwina R. Haggerty, 87, of Spalding died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Revs. Joe Hannapel, Frank Hoelck, James Murphy and Jacob Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with rosaries at 4:30 and 7 p.m., Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Haggerty was born icon on June 2, 1912, at Ord to Reese J. and Fay E. (Dare) Sharp. Her mother died when Edwina was 5 years old, and she was raised by her Grandfather and Grandmother Dare. She attended school in North Loup, Lincoln and Ericson and graduated from Ericson Public School in 1930. She worked in the Spalding/Ericson area until 1935.

She married Charles Haggerty on Sept. 16, 1935, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Scotia. They farmed north of Spalding. Mr. Haggerty died in 1964. Mrs. Haggerty continued to farm until 1968, when she moved to Grand Island. She worked as a library aide for the Grand Island public schools, the city of Grand Island and District 1-R.

She moved back to Spalding in 1984 and worked at both the Spalding City Library and Spalding Academy library.

She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Dawson of Gordon, Marie (Mrs. Fred) Schmeits of Spalding and Marsha Molinari of Chaska, Minn.; two sons, Charles "Chuck" of St. Libory and Michael "Mike" of Spalding; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant twin daughter, Helen Marie; and one brother, Edwin Sharp.

Dolores Harrahill

GREELEY -- Mary Dolores Harrahill, 86, of Greeley died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harrahill was born icon on July 29, 1913, at Greeley to John Lowe and Agnes Mary (Cannon) Ralph. She grew up in Greeley, where she attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1931. She spent her entire life in Greeley, where she worked at her mother's store, Stoke's; John F. Doyle Store; Andy Wisby General Store; and Warner's Locker.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. She enjoyed attending all events at the Greeley public schools, including baseball, softball and all sporting events. She also enjoyed reading and walking.

Survivors include two sons, Jim of Greeley and Tom of Grand Island; one daughter, Maryjo Harrahill of Greeley; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one brother, John Ralph.

Dorothy Molczyk

AURORA -- Dorothy R. Molczyk, 94, of Hamilton Manor in Aurora died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Hamilton Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Molczyk was born icon on July 6, 1905, at St. Libory to Gregory and Josie (Suida) Kowalski. She grew up on the family farm five miles northwest of St. Libory. She moved to Ashton at the age of 12 and then to a farm in Boone County.

She married Stanley Molczyk on May 23, 1926, at Primrose. They moved to Alda in 1949. Mr. Molczyk was killed in a train accident in 1953. Mrs. Molczyk moved to Grand Island in 1962. She worked at St. Francis Hospital for seven years and later baby-sat children for eight years. She had lived at Hamilton Manor for two years.

Mrs. Molczyk was a member of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include three sons, Clement of Alda and Raymond and George, both of Grand Island; two daughters, Rose Mary Zelasney of Schuyler and Lorraine Oberschulte of Grand Island; 21 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons; five sisters, Kate, Anna, Gertrude, Marie and Helen; and six brothers, Roman, Greg, Walter, Tony, Harry and Joe.

Marcy Weismann

GIBBON -- Marcy R. Weismann, 39, of Gibbon died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Church in Gibbon. The Rev. Barbara Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.

No visitation is planned.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weismann was born icon on Nov. 26, 1960, in Kearney to Robert and Marilyn (Rasmussen) Williams. She grew up in Gibbon, graduating from Gibbon High School in 1979. She graduated from Kearney State College in 1984. She taught high school in Elwood for two years before going to work at the Kearney Hub. She worked there until September 1999, when ill health forced her retirement.

She married Dan Weismann on Sept. 30, 1989, in Kearney. They lived west of Gibbon. They moved to Elwood in 1992 and back to Gibbon in 1997.

While in Elwood, she attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She attended Faith United Church in Gibbon. She was also a member of the Gibbon Chapter of PEO.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ian and Aaron of Gibbon; her father and stepmother, Robert and Joan Williams of Gibbon; a brother, Randy of Kearney; a sister, Kristi Kunce of Hemet, Calif.; and a stepsister, Mary Gibbons of Gibbon.

She was preceded in death by her mother and an infant sister.

Winona Abbott

OXFORD -- Winona Coreen Abbott, 61, of Oxford died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. The Rev. Gerald Vap will officiate.

There will be no visitation. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell-Nelson Funeral Home in Oxford.

Mrs. Abbott was born icon on May 13, 1938, in Hamlet to Louis L. and Mary (Rousey) Keezer. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High and then attended nurse's training through Hastings Community College at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She married Wayne Abbott on May 13, 1955, in Oxford.

She worked as a nurse at the Grand Island Veterans Home from 1968 to 1988. She then worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Wood River until 1992. She began working at Walker Post Manor in Oxford in 1992 and was still employed there. During that time, she had worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arapahoe for about a year.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Wanda (Mrs. Darrel) Paulson of Oxford and Nancy (Mrs. Don) Filken of Juneau, Alaska; two sons, Tim of Gatlinberg, Tenn., and Bill of Oxord; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sarah (Mrs. John) Johnson of Wood River, Mary Rushing of Clinton, Okla., and Nadine (Mrs. Dutch) McIntyre of Omaha; and two brothers, Louis of Downs, Kan., and Bill of Cawker City, Kan.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess, Jack and Charles; and a sister, Louise Miles.

Betty Joyce

LINCOLN -- Betty Jane Joyce, 77, of Lincoln, formerly of Wolbach, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Lincoln.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Connor Cemetery south of Greeley.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.

T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joyce was born icon on Jan. 6, 1923, at Lincoln to Leon and Anna (Stutz) Bailey. She grew up in Lincoln, where she also attended school.

She married Michael C. Joyce, and the couple lived in Wolbach throughout their marriage. Mr. Joyce died in 1979. In 1984, Mrs. Joyce moved to Lincoln, where she lived until her death.

She attended St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Lincoln. She was a member of the Lincoln Garden Club, Cushman Club of Nebraska and the Bettys of Nebraska.

Survivors include one son, Michael of Prairie Village, Kan.; one grandson; and three sisters, Marie (Mrs. Dale) Rustermier and Lois Hubert, both of Lincoln, and Norma (Mrs. Carl) Martin of Houston.

Donald Kroger

LINCOLN -- Donald J. Kroger, 77, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Lincoln.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The Revs. Fred Nelson and Don Griffith will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

Visitation will be until 9 p.m. Thursday and one hour before service time Friday at Roper and Sons, 4300 O St., in Lincoln.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Foundation.

Mr. Kroger was born icon on Nov. 25, 1922, at Grand Island to Ernest G. and Katherine (Nierman) Kroger. He graduated from Grand Island High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law in 1949.

He was a World War II veteran.

Mr. Kroger was a trustee of the University of Nebraska-Foundation and past president of the Optimist Club of Lincoln. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Friends of Lied, Palladian Literary Society, Lincoln Bar Association, Lincoln Estate Planning Council and a 50-year member of the Nebraska State Bar Association.

Survivors include a son, Douglas J. Kroger of Lincoln; a daughter, Nancy (Mrs. Joel) Sundermann of Nebraska City; a granddaughter; and a sister, Elinor (Mrs. Orville) Eggert of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. (Alexis) Kroger; and two brothers, Roscoe and Dr. Orville Kroger.
