William Boyden

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- William Sherman Boyden, 69, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 in Council Bluffs.

Mr. Boyden was born icon March 14, 1930, in Greeley to Sherman L. and Ruth (Dutcher) Boyden. He and attended schools in Greeley and Aurora. After graduation from Aurora he attended Wesleyan University for a time.

He worked at Aurora Creamery and the telephone company. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in Korea.

He married Eloris Epp on Nov. 22, 1953. After he was discharged they moved back to Aurora. Later that year Mr. Boyden returned to school at Milford and graduated in 1959 as a toolmaker. They moved to Council Bluffs. He worked for Arnold Tool and Die. He sang and played in a country music band on weekends.

He and his wife were divorced in 1962. Five years later he moved to Denver and worked for Martin Marietta. A year later he moved back to Council Bluffs.

His business was run as Boyden Design Limited until he retired in 1995. He continued to operate the company part time and work as a consultant until ill health forced his retirement.

He bought a motorcycle and began taking vacations on his bike. He traveled around the country and across Canada. He enjoyed snow camping.

Survivors include one daughter, Randyce (Mrs. Russ) Peard of Phillips; a son, Kelly Boyden of York; a special friend, Dori Bentz of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren; and one brother, John Boyden of Golden, Colo.

Iva Culotta

DALLAS -- Iva Schoemaker Culotta, 72, of Dallas, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Dallas.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Scotia United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mavis Klingler

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Mavis M. Klingler, 90, of Ord, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo.

Services are pending at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

Virginia M. Stewart

DERBY, Kan. -- Virginia M. Stewart, 76, of Derby, Kan., formerly of Albion died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Boone Cemetery in rural Albion with the Rev. Terry Otto officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.

'Wayne' O'Neal

R. "Wayne" O'Neal, 79, of Grand Island died at his home Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, after an illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.

William Alexander

ORD -- William W. Alexander, 103, of Ord died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home.

Mr. Alexander was cremated. There will be no services. Interment will be at Overton.

William Warren Alexander was born icon March 28, 1896, to Warren and Rachel (Van Horn) Alexander in Ottawa, Kan. As a teen-ager, he left Kansas to work on ranches in the Sandhills areas of Hyannis, Halsey and Anselmo.

On Dec. 9, 1917, he married Ethel Velma Tincley in Thedford. In 1938 the family moved to California. After living in California for 19 years, they return to Nebraska and Mr. Alexander began working with horses.

At age 77, he moved to Comstock. In 1974, at the age of 78, he retired. He lived at home until age 98, when he lived with grandson Carl Waite before moving into the Valley County Nursing Home the following year.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, basebalkl and horse riding.

He is survived by a son, William Frank Alexander of San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Zada Parker of Magalia, Calif., Ruby Beier of Martinez, Calif., and Dulcie Titus of Hastings; two sisters, Edith Yeager of Bollinger, Texas, and Helen Hill of Eugene, Ore.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; two sons, Harry "Dutch" and Joseph; and two daughters, Velma Sanchez and Eva Waite.

Edith Lantz

ST. EDWARD -- Edith M. Lantz, 95, of St. Edward died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward, with the Rev. Wendell Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at St. Edward.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.

Nellie Perry

AURORA -- Nellie Perry, 85, of Aurora died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at her home in Aurora.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. The Rev. James Garfield will officiate. Burial will be at the Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary.

Mrs. Perry was born icon to Jacob and Bessie (Broughton) Eckert on Sept. 10, 1914, in Dalton. She was raised in Dalton, where she went to country school.

She married Melvin Perry on June 23, 1936, in York. They farmed near Phillips. Mr. Perry died on Dec. 3, 1979. Mrs. Perry moved to Aurora in 1980.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the BB Club. She loved gardening, quilting and playing cards.

Survivors include one son, Wendell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Einfault, Bertha Larson Davis and Virginia Adams; and one brother, Kenneth Eckert.

John Seberg

FULLERTON -- Dr. John L. Seberg, 89, of Fullerton died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, Calif.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Jim Howland will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.

'Pike' Stewart

ST. PAUL -- Edward D. "Pike" Stewart, 93, of St. Paul died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Military honors at graveside will be presented by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Museum of Major League Baseball in St. Paul or the donor's choice.

Mr. Stewart was born icon Dec. 13, 1906, southwest of St. Paul to Fred and Ella (Newlon) Stewart. He was raised in the area between St. Paul and Dannebrog. He attended grade school in rural schools near Dannebrog and attended Dannebrog High School. He then worked construction in the Lexington area and then worked at a refinery in Sinclair, Wyo. Mr. Stewart entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 and served in India. He received his discharge in 1943.

He married Bernice Becker on March 8, 1947, in Norton, Kan. The couple lived in St. Paul. Mr. Stewart worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, the city of St. Paul and the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. He retired in 1971. His wife died on April 9, 1975. Mr. Stewart continued to live in St. Paul.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, both of St. Paul. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball.

Survivors include a son, Jack of Windsor, Colo., and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray, and four sisters, Ruth Kremlacek, Agnes Capellon, Mamie Hill and Helen Larsen.

Alice Zimbelman

PALMER -- Alice Zimbelman, 74, of Palmer died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Schilling officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Zimbelman was born icon Feb. 7, 1925, in Grand Island to Herman and Elsie (Killinger) Kurz. She grew up in Grand Island and Merrick County and attended country schools.

She married John Zimbelman on Feb. 7, 1948, in Palmer. The couple farmed west of Palmer. Mrs. Zimbelman also worked at the Ramada Inn in Grand Island for several years, and was active in community service.

She enjoyed fishing, reading, listening to polka music, dancing and the outdoors.

Mrs. Zimbelman was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Palmer.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Jim of Grand Island; one daughter, Linda Malesker of Grand Island; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Melvin Foster

LINCOLN -- Melvin Merle Foster, 48, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Bryan Memorial LGH in Lincoln.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Ericson, with burial in Pibel Cemetery. The Rev. Cynthia Altstadt will officiate.

Visitation was at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.

Memorials are suggested to a fund for his sons' college education.

Mr. Foster was born icon April 28, 1951, to Dick and Bonnadel (Hallock) Foster in Burwell. He grew up on a ranch south of Ericson, but spent most of his adult life in Lincoln. He attended grade school in Ericson and graduated from Wheeler Central High School in 1969.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with majors in English and journalism. He also took night classes at Southeast Community college for several years and earned additional degrees.

Mr. Foster was baptized at the Ericson United Methodist Church and was a lifelong member there. He married Sue Harrison on July 18, 1976, in Norfolk. The couple had two sons.

Mr. Foster loved to learn, which was apparent through his avid reading of books, magazine and newspapers, frequent visits to the library and extensive genealogy studies. He also loved the outdoors, camping and hunting. He was active in the Center for Rural Affairs.

Survivors include two sons, Joel of Tempe, Ariz., and Joshua of Lincoln; his parents, Dick and Bonnadel Foster of Ericson; and three sisters, Linda (Mrs. Steve) Senn of Burwell, twin Marilyn (Mrs. Mike) Winkelbauer of Ord and Dixie Foster of Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
