Gregory Stillman

URBANA, Ill. -- Gregory E. Stillman, 63, of Urbana, Ill., died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Scotia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Semiconductor Research Award in care of the University of Illinois Electric and Computer Engineering College.

Mr. Stillman was born icon on Feb. 15, 1936, at Scotia to Edgar and Eveleen (Duryea) Stillman. He grew up in Scotia and graduated from Scotia High School.

He married Rae Jean Bryan on Feb. 4, 1956, in Scotia. He received a bachelor's degree with distinction in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1958.

From 1958 to 1963, he served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command as a pilot in high-performance aircraft, refueling B-52s from KC-135s.

He received a master of science in 1965 and a doctorate in 1967, both in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. After working for eight years at Lincoln Labs in Bedford, Mass., he became a semiconductor professor and formed a laboratory in the Bardeen cycle of semiconductor and transistor research in 1975. He was professor of electrical engineering and a member of the University of Illinois Center of Advanced Study.

Survivors include his wife, of Champaign, Ill.; three sons, Michael E. Stillman of Ithaca, N.Y., Charles G. Stillman of Cambridge, Mass., and Jeffrey B. Stillman of Cambridge, Mass.; two grandsons; his mother, of Scotia; and a brother, James A. Stillman of Boston.

He was preceded in death by his father.

'Cecil' Willhoft

COOS BAY Ore. -- Joseph "Cecil" Willhoft, 89, of Coos Bay, Ore., formerly of Central City, died July 7, 1999, at Coos Bay Hospital.

Masonic graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Central City Cemetery. Mr. Willhoft was cremated.

Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Thompson Sr.

ALBION -- Robert Thompson Sr., 72, of Albion died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Rev. Mary Avidano will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dale Traudt

AURORA - Dale Eugene Traudt, 55, owner of Traudt Aerial Service of Aurora died Friday, July 30, 1999, in an airplane crash near Giltner.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Aurora Airport Hangar. The Rev. Al Duminy will officiate. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary with a family prayer service to follow.

Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church and PAASS.

Mr. Traudt was born icon May 14, 1944, in Eldorado to Paul and Catherine "Katy" (Helzer) Traudt. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1962.

He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., and Western Nebraska Vocational Tech in Sidney where he obtained his Airframe and Power Plant airplane mechanic license. He enlisted in 1964 in the Nebraska Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve for six years.

He married Joleen Salmen on Aug. 31, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton. They lived in Lincoln, Chappell, Kearney and Grand Island before moving to Aurora in 1974.

He obtained his private pilot's license in 1968, and later received his commercial and instrument licenses and multi-engine rating. He was a truck driver and worked for Werner Construction and later for Aviation Services in Grand Island as an aircraft mechanic.

In 1973, he and his dad and a brother-in-law, John Robbins, formed Sutton Aerial Services. Later the name was changed to Traudt Aerial Services. After moving to Aurora, Mr. Traudt opened an airplance mechanic shop and served as airport manager until his death.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, American Legion, NFAI, Aurora Chamber of Commerce, lifetime member of NAAA. He served on various committees and boards on the national level including traveling to Washington, D.C. At present he was serving as Director of NAAREF, and active supporter of PAASS. He was also a lifetime member of NATA where he served as vice president, treasurer and board member. He was awarded the Airman of the Year in 1995 and received the President's Award in 1996. He was actively involved in legislative affairs.

He enjoyed vacations, skiing, hunting and fishing trips.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jill (Mrs. Doug) Feekin of Papillion and Darcie (Mrs. Daryl) Wendt of Omaha; one son, Matthew Traudt of Lincoln; three grandchildren; his mother, Catherine Traudt of Sutton; and five sisters, Mary (Mrs. John) Robbins of Kearney, Cathy Traudt, Carol (Mrs. Ken D.) Griess and Patty (Mrs. Todd) Leininger, all of Sutton and Paula (Mrs. Marv) Teetor of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Lloyd Berry

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Lloyd H. Berry, 82, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Gibbon, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at the Villa Manor Care Center in Lakewood, Colo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Faith United Church in Gibbon. The Rev. Dr. Charles Spence will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon.

Memorials are suggested to the church or the Good Samaritan Hospice Program.

Frederick H. 'Fritz' Rosenkotter

Frederick H. "Fritz" Rosenkotter, 102, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Herbert Schutte will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Gideons International, the Lutheran Hour or the church.

Mr. Rosenkotter was born icon on Dec. 27, 1896, in Hall County to Carl and Johanna (Bulk) Rosenkotter. He grew up in Hall County and was educated at District 28 Mile Bridge School.

He began farming in 1923 on his father's farm, which was purchased in 1883.

He married Ella Holl on July 7, 1938, in Lowell. The couple lived on the family farm southeast of Grand Island. He supplemented his farm income by working at the Grand Island Sugar Beet Factory and Stolley State Park. He lived on the family farm until the age of 101 and moved with his wife to Lebensraum Retirement Home in February 1998.

He had been a member of the Walther League, church choir and Lutheran Layman's League at Trinity Lutheran Church. He became a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in 1956 and continued to participate in Bible class, Lutheran Layman's League and the church choir. He was a longtime member of Gideons International and an active member of Farmer's Union Co-op.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Harold Rosenkotter of Grand Island; two daughters, Pamela Rosenkotter of Grand Island and Deborah Spaulding of Shawnee, Kan.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

Floyd Zikmund

Floyd Duane Zikmund, 72, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. The Revs. Richard Bacon and Volney Lofgreen will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Nelson Cemetery.

Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Zikmund was born icon on Sept. 4, 1926, at Edgar to Joseph and Georgia Alma (Cook) Zikmund. He attended Nelson schools and graduated from Nelson High School.

He served in the Merchant Marine from 1945 to 1947 and received his officer's training at Gallups Island.

He married Mercedes Henriksen on Nov. 20, 1944. Mr. Zikmund loved farming. He had worked for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, managed Twin Rivers in Grand Island and was a USDA meat inspector for 29 years, based at the research center near Clay Center. He retired in March 1999 because of his health.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and Eagles, both in Grand Island. He was a member of the Nelson Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Timothy of Lincoln; and two grandchildren.

Floyd Frizzell

SILVER CREEK -- Floyd K. Frizzell, 85, of Silver Creek died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Bev Minor will officiate. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at McKowns Funeral Home in Silver Creek. Further visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Frizzell was born icon on April 17, 1914, at Silver Creek to Roy and Clara (Cremeen) Frizzell. He graduated in 1931 from Silver Creek High School.

He lived in Silver Creek most of his life. He was retired from the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. He was also a farmer and a firefighter.

He married Delpha Pickett on June 3, 1936. Mrs. Frizzell died on Aug. 9, 1954.

He married Irene Chinn on Dec. 31, 1965, at the Methodist Church in Silver Creek.

He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, an active member of the Silver Creek Golden Age Club and the Masons. He enjoyed fishing and bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, Larry Frizzell of Littleton, Colo., and Bruce Frizzell of Silver Creek; two stepsons, Randy Chinn of Columbus and Rod Chinn of Silver Creek; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Zola Finecy; and one brother, Dale Frizzell.

Mae Hickenbottom

ANSLEY -- Mae Hickenbottom, 90, of Ansley died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Ansley. The Revs. Victor Crawford and Jerry Ruzicka will officiate. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Memorials are suggested to the church or to the donor's choice.

Mrs. Hickenbottom was born icon on April 4, 1909, near Bradshaw to William and Janette (Simpson) Bellinger. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to Ansley. She grew up in Ansley and graduated from Ansley High School in 1927.

She married Leonard Hickenbottom on Feb. 22, 1930, at Taylor. They lived in the Mullen area for a few years and then returned to Ansley. They moved to the Dunning area in 1946 and the Thedford area in 1948. They returned again to Ansley in 1951.

Mrs. Hickenbottom worked as a telephone operator in Dunning, Thedford and Ansley. She also cooked in many restaurants in Ansley and at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. The couple also spent two summers at Custer State Park in South Dakota, where she cooked and he ran the campgrounds. Mr. Hickenbottom died on March 3, 1986.

Mrs. Hickenbottom was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ansley and the women's group at the church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Hickenbottom of Mason City and Mick Hickenbottom of Ansley; two daughters, Rosa Lee (Mrs. Reed) Hamilton of Thedford and Betty (Mrs. Jack) Celesky of Waverly; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Bonnie and Gayle; three brothers; and two sisters.
