Margaret Jaeger
SHELTON -- Margaret E. Jaeger, 81, of Shelton died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Private family graveside services will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon and Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jaeger was born
on Oct. 8, 1918, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to Mr. and Mrs. George Crumb. She grew up on a farm between Butte and Spence. The family moved to the Blue Springs area, and she graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1936.
She married Arthur Jaeger on April 22, 1938, in Beatrice. They lived in Beatrice until moving to Boulder, Colo., in 1957. They moved to Ayr in 1978 and to Shelton in 1991.
Survivors include her husband and a daughter, Elaine J. "Jean" Jaeger of Shelton.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Alvin Markvicka
ORD -- Alvin Joe Markvicka, 69, of Ord died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ord Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Lonnie Carpenter and Jeffrey Markvicka will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Ord VFW and American Legion.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Markvicka was born
Nov. 14, 1930, at Sherman County to Adolph and Anna (Waskowiak) Markvicka. He attended school in Sherman County.
From 1952 until 1953 he served in the U.S. Army and was medically discharged.
On Nov. 19, 1952, he married Renae Kush at Ord. He worked several jobs to raise his family.
He owned and operated his own garbage route from 1981 until 1992 when he retired due to ill health.
His hobbies included listening to party-line, watching "Over The Backyard Fence" and gardening. He enjoyed sharing gardening tips and took pride in his tomato plants that grew to 6 feet tall.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Carl of Burwell, Craig of Wahoo, Kenneth and David of Ord and Jeffrey of Minneapolis; three daughters, Diane (Mrs. Dave) Kaslon of Ord, Geralyn Markvicka of Bad Axe, Mich. and Kimberly Darnell of Kearney; two brothers, Don of Fremont and Bob of Grand Island; one sister, Delores Badura of Loup City and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Scott and one daughter, Betty.
Tara Mauler
SARGENT -- Tara M. Mauler, 21, of Sargent died Thursday, July 20, 2000, in an auto accident near Amherst.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Sargent with the Rev. Mark Crist officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Sargent.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Sargent EMT Unit.
Lanette Wells
MADISON -- Lanette S. Wells, 37, of Madison, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha following a long battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust, Grand Island. The Rev. Raymond M. Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Wood River.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Wells was born
on Aug. 10, 1962, at Grand Island to Tom and Verna (O'Brien) Flinn. She grew up and was educated in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School in 1980. She attended beauty school and later Northeast Community College to become a nurse.
She married Michael Wells on Aug. 17, 1985, in Grand Island. While her husband was serving in the U.S. Navy, they lived at Whidbey Island, Wash., where she started nurse's training. She graduated in Norfolk. They later moved to Madison, where she worked at Countryside Homes Nursing Center.
She enjoyed attending her children's sporting events and playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Zachery at home; two daughters, Aleisha and McKenna, both at home; her parents, of Grand Island; one brother, Tom Flinn Jr. of Palmer; and one sister, Teresa (Mrs. Duane) Coplen of Wood River.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nancy Kay Flinn.
Margaret Gibson
SILVERDALE, Wash. -- Margaret R. Gibson, 92, of Silverdale, Wash., died July 9, 2000.
Memorial services were July 14 at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, Wash. A private burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Lewis Funeral Chapel of Bremerton, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Gibson was born
May 21, 1908, in Whiting, Kan. to Roy and Florence Monroe. She received her grade and high school education in Soldieer, Kan. and attended Kansas State Teacher's College at Emporia, Kan.
She taught elementary school until her marriage to Erwin C. Gibson on May 21, 1932.
They moved to Kitsap County in 1942. She graduated from Western Washington University and taught at Pearson Elementary until retiring in 1971.
She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was the librarian until 1971. Her other activities included Ingabog Nevill Children's Orthopedic Guild, Friends of the Poulsbo Library and the Washington Retired Teachers Association.
Her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing and making doll and children's clothes.
Survivors include her son, Harold E. of Poulsbo; two grandchildren; and a brother, George Monroe of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980 and a daughter, Virginia.
Eleanore Brune
Eleanore Johanna Brune, 84, of Grand Island, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Brune was born
Oct. 25, 1914, in Winside and lived most of her life in Grand Island. She graduated from the Grand Island College of Business and began a career with the Hall County Social Services Department. She worked there more than 40 years, eventually becoming director.
She was a member of many organizations, including a Bible study, Eastern Star, the Liederkranz Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She was an avid gardener, bridge player, traveler and a mentor to many.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mary Wohlman
Mary M. Wohlman, 65, of Grand Island died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Wedgewood Care Center of Grand Island.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Patricia Summers will officiate.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
She married Blaine E. Wohlman on Dec. 6, 1953, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island, where Mrs. Wohlman worked at Coney Island, Pete's Grill, the Farmer's Daughter and Ben's Rexall.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Wohlman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Debra Wohlman; her parents; six brothers; and five sisters.
Nina Wolfe
Nina L. Wolfe, 84, of Grand Island died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Richard M. Bacon will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Rebekah Lodge.
She was born
on Sept. 15, 1914, at Stockham to Wilbur A. and Myrtle M. (Sailor) Wolfe. She grew up in Stockham and was educated in the Stockham public schools.
She later moved to Grand Island, where she was a seamstress for Greenberger's Clothing Store for 14 years. She retired in 1976. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Women's Circle at the Church, the Rebekah Lodge, 3 Length Club and Past Noble Grands Club.
She enjoyed sewing blocks together for her sewing circle at the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary L. Williams of Columbus; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Vernon Wolfe of Aurora, Colo.; and three sisters, Esther Wolfe, Dorothy Wach and Wilma Nuss, all of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Archie.
