Barney Lilienthal

TRENTON -- Barney Lilienthal, 88, of Trenton, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Trenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday at the Hermann Funeral Home of Trenton.

Mr. Lilienthal was born icon Oct. 10, 1911, in Grand Island to John and Anna (Stelk) Lilienthal. He grew up in Pine Bluffs, Wyo. and Grand Island, spending the majority of his youth around the Grand Island area.

On Nov. 12, 1935, he married Dorotha Wiest of Shelton. They moved to Hitchcock County in 1936 where they farmed north of Trenton. In 1974, they moved into Trenton, but continued farming.

He enjoyed farming, taking care of his yard and dancing to country music. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1434 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 2769 in McCook.

Survivors include three daughters, Bethelene (Mrs. Ray) Madsen of Phoenix, Genice (Mrs. Don) Berns of Hastings and Polly Markham of Grand Island; one son, Larry of McCook; one sister, Viola Ruby of Grand Island; one brother, Emil of Modesto, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 20, 1998; two grandsons; one brother, Henry "John"; and one sister, Hazel Opp.

Alice Price

Alice C. Price, 87, of Tiffany Square Care Center died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Tiffany Square.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mrs. Price was born icon on Nov. 15, 1912, at Ansley to Joseph and Lena (Scharfin) Strehle. She lived on a farm south of Ansley until 1916, when the family moved to Boone County. She grew up on a farm in the Plum Creek area near Albion.

After completing her education in Boone County, she worked in the Albion area and later moved to Colorado Springs, Colo.

She married Raymond M. Price on July 26, 1941, in Denver. The couple moved to Oxford in 1945. They later lived and farmed at Cedar Rapids. They moved to Grand Island in 1962. Mrs. Price was a homemaker and also worked at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Price died on April 16, 1984.

Mrs. Price's interests included crocheting and gardening.

Survivors include one son, John of Grand Island; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Larry, Ralph and Raymond.

Harvey Kroeger

DANNEBROG -- Harvey Kroeger, 94, of Dannebrog died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Rev. Robert Carlson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Kroeger was born icon on Aug. 3, 1905, at the family farm near Doniphan to Herman and Minnie (Boltz) Kroeger. He was educated at a rural school near Doniphan and grew up on the family farm there. He then farmed with his family.

He married Evelyn Schimmer on June 21, 1933, at Grand Island. The couple farmed with his family for a year. They moved to a farm in the Cleveland area near Dannebrog in 1934. He farmed, operated a dairy and raised cattle.

He moved to another farmstead in the Cleveland area after retirement.

He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, the Dannebrog Country Club and the Platt-Duetsche Society in Grand Island. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harlan and Darryl of Dannebrog; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence of Doniphan.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin; and two sisters, Ella Luth and Hattie Schultz.

Geraldine Brown

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Geraldine E. "Gerry" Brown, 62, of Dodge City, Kan., died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Cemetery in Colby, Kan. The Rev. Gary Winget will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.

Memorials are suggested to the Geraldine E. Brown Memorial Fund in care of Burkhart Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Brown was born icon on Dec. 5, 1937, at St. Francis, Kan., to George H. and Mayme G. (Amack) Theye.

She married Lindy Cross on Dec. 4, 1958, at St. Francis, Kan. He died in 1970. She worked for McCain Foods in Grand Island for eight years until retiring in January and moving to Dodge City.

Survivors include four sons, Wesley Cross, Edwin Cross and Scott Brown, all of Dodge City, and Paul Cross of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Laura Hamilton of Abilene, Kan., and Julia Cross of Dodge City; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Louis Theye of Colby, Ralph Theye of Fremont, Walter Theye of Lincoln and George Theye of Hutchinson, Kan.; and six sisters, Viola Pyle of Denver, Bertha Cullipher and Gertrude Zamay, both of Binghamton, N.Y., Marie Hicks of Helena, Mont., Louise Johnson of Orleans and Florence Headley of Hanston, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Calvin Theye.

Atelena Dunker

LOUP CITY -- Atelena E. "Atlin" Dunker, 96, of Loup City died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Miss Dunker was born icon Oct. 5, 1903, on a farm south of Ashton to Fred and Minnie (Petersen) Dunker.

In 1913 the family moved to Rockville where she attended District No. 8 grade school. She graduated from Boelus High School in 1920. She obtained her college degree in education from Kearney State College.

She taught fourth and fifth grades at Rockville and then the fourth grade at Broken Bow. In 1927 she returned to Rockville to teach kindergarten and third grade until 1944.

In 1945, Miss Dunker moved to Ravenna to teach and later became the head librarian in Ravenna until she retired in 1971.

She continued to live in Ravenna until 1988 when she moved to Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City to be near her brother, Floyd.

Miss Dunker was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two nephews, Gordon Dunker of Andreas, Pa., and Roger Dunker of Spring Valley, Ill.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Henry and Floyd.

Delbert Jenkins

BURWELL -- Delbert F. Jenkins, 97, of Burwell died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell. The Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.

Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.

Mr. Jenkins was born icon April 27, 1903, at Gandy to Edward and Anna (Reynolds) Jenkins.

He moved to a farm west of Stapleton with his family. His father died when he was 12, leaving him, his mother, brother and three sisters to run the farm.

He married Olive Stalnaker on Aug. 3, 1926, in North Platte. The couple continued to farm and later moved into Stapleton. They farmed until 1951, when he started working in road construction. He retired in 1975.

Mr. Jenkins and his wife moved to the Park View Plaza in Burwell in 1986 and in May 1995 they moved into the Community Memorial Health Center.

Mr. Jenkins enjoyed fishing, his grandchildren, playing poker with his family and traveling to family activities and sporting events.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmie of Whitman; two daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Don) Sheets of Burwell and Lila Lambertz of Wall Lake, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, a brother and three sisters.

Atlin Dunker

LOUP CITY - Atlin E. Dunker, 96, of Loup City died Friday, June 2, 2000, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

LaVerne Faaborg

FULLERTON- LaVerne "Butch" Faaborg, 85, of Fullerton died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Central City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, the Senior Center or the American Legion Baseball Program

Mr. Faaborg was born icon May 16, 1915, at Howard County to Anton and Helga (Jacobsen) Faaborg. He attended school at Nysted, District 17, and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1934. He attended Moler Barber College in Omaha. In 1937 he opened a barber shop in Fullerton.

He married Adele Luschei on July 3, 1938, in Fullerton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.

Mr. Faaborg ran a bowling alley from 1950 to 1953. He also operated his barber shop for over 50 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing, cards, bowling, golfing, dancing and singing.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Fullerton VFW, the Fullerton American Legion Post 15, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cedar River Masonic Lodge 89, and the Nance County Historical Society. He was the former president and secretary of the Fullerton area Chamber of Commerce and the Kemp Country Club. He was also a member of the Fullerton Cemetery Board and the Lions Club. He was active in the American Legion Baseball Program and received the Fullerton High School Booster Honorary F Award.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. Loren Faaborg of Scottsbluff; a daughter, Gail (Mrs. John) Rogers of West Allis, Wis.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary.
