Libby Horn
ST. EDWARD -- Libby P. Horn, 80, of St. Edward died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Frank Baumert and Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Edward Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. Visitation will resume at the church at 8:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service.
Mrs. Horn was born
May 31, 1920, at Clarkson to Joe F. and Pauline (Kodelka) Weltruski. The family lived in the Leigh and Newman Grove areas until 1933, whey they moved to St. Edward. She attended rural elementary school in Newman Grove and later attended Boone County District 66 School near St. Edward.
Following her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper for many families in the area.
She married Duane A. Horn on Feb. 19, 1952, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. They lived and farmed south of Lindsay until 1988 when they retired and moved to St. Edward.
Mrs. Horn was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay and later the St. Edward Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Rex of St. Edward; a brother, Milo Weltruski of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Marie (Mrs. Bob) Woods of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Mildred (Mrs. Marvin) Haas of St. Edward; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by twin brothers, Joe and Frank; and an infant brother.
Delbert Jenkins
BURWELL -- Delbert F. Jenkins, 97, of Burwell, formerly of Stapleton, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burwell. The Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Arthur Walden
COLUMBUS - Arthur W. Walden, 80, of Columbus died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Park Evangelical Church in Columbus. The Rev. Mike Neely will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion with graveside services at 4:30 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 162 and the VFW Post 736 of Albion.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Walden was born
Sept. 18, 1919, at Tarkio, Mo,. to William C. and Eva (Mather) Walden. He livd on various farms in the Albion area and attended country schools in Boone County, including District 24 near Dennison.
He was drafted in to the U.S. Army during World War II on Dec. 15, 1944, and served in Japan as a military police officer. Following his honorable discharge on Dec. 17, 1946, he returned to Nebraska to farm.
He married Lela Cox on Sept. 1, 1963, in Broken Bow. They lived on a farm north of St. Edward until 1980 when they moved to Albion. Mr. Walden worked for Karges Dairy in Albion. In April 1996, the couple moved to Columbus.
Mr. Walden attended the First Baptist Church in Albion. He was a member of the American Legion Post 162 of Albion. While in Columbus, he served as an usher at the Highland Park Evangelical Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janice (Mrs. Darell) Peden of Pensacola and Janette (Mrs. Wayne) Jones of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a son, Dean A. Naylor of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three sisters, Pearl Wallick of Kirksville, Mo., Mary Mclain and Dora Tiemann both of Omaha; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ester Kaiser and Pauline Wallick.
Wilbur McHugh
Wilbur R. McHugh, 72, of Grand Island died Friday, June 2, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. parish rosary, Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The casket will be closed.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. McHugh was born
on Dec. 2, 1927, in Grand Island to Sylvester and Dorris (Keckbusch) McHugh. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 22, 1945, to July 13, 1946. He then served for a short time in the U.S. Army.
Following the service, he studied to be an X-ray technician at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln. He moved to Columbus and worked there before moving to Fargo, N.D., and teaching the X-ray tech program there.
He married Therese Connelly on Feb. 20, 1960, in Lindsay. He worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant until it closed. He then worked for Delicious Foods and later for Jaeger Dental Co. until retiring in 1997.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Tom, David and Mike, all of Grand Island, and John of Lincoln; one daughter, Susan Hernandez of Barksdale Air Force Base, La.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Klinginsmith of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorris McHugh.
Irma Schuyler
Irma M. Schuyler, 71, of Grand Island died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Ginger Pierce will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schuyler was born
on Aug. 22, 1928, at Merlebach, France, to Joseph and Paula (Remhof) Roessler. She grew up and was educated in France.
She married LaVerne Schuyler on Oct. 10, 1945, at Merlebach, France. The couple later returned to Grand Island. She was a waitress for the Bosselman and Eaton Cafe for 10 years and the Interstate Holiday Inn for 24 years. Mr. Schuyler died on April 29, 1993. Mrs. Schuyler retired in 1993.
Mrs. Schuyler was a member of the Doll Ladies of Grand Island and Hastings. She enjoyed crocheting doll clothing for Christmas Cheer, knitting and spending summers houseboating on Crab Orchard Lake.
Survivors include two sons, Don Schuyler of Carterville, Ill., and Ron Schuyler of Grand Island; four daughters, Susie Lopez of Lincoln, Sally Gaskins of Long Pine and Sandy Cooper and Janet Chaney, both of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Susie Schmidt of France.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael; and a daughter, Judy.
LaVerne Faaborg
FULLERTON -- LaVerne "Butch" Faaborg, 85, of Fullerton, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Integrated Health Services at Central City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
'Jun' Glasser
POLK -- Roy Dean "Jun" Glasser, 74, of Polk died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at York General Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Polk. The Rev. Roger Burke will officiate. Burial will be in the Arborville Cemetery in Polk.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Solt Funeral Home in Polk.
Mr. Glasser was born
on Aug. 19, 1925, in Polk County to Robert and Gladys (Kahler) Glasser. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Polk High School in 1943.
He married Caryl Jean Sterner of Polk on Dec. 20, 1945. The couple traveled throughout the United States.
He farmed and was a lifelong member of the Polk community. He worked for New Holland in Grand Island for 19 years.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Polk since age 11.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lauren of Orange City, Iowa and Robert of Polk; two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. James) Chesebro of Polk and Beverly (Mrs. Robert) Phillippi of Smithfield; one sister Marjorie (Mrs. Lloyd) Van Housen of Polk; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Archie Johnston
CHAPMAN -- Archie William Johnston, 87, of Chapman died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Lloyd Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnston was born
Aug. 28, 1912, to George G. and Mabel L. (Solt) Johnston in Merrick County. He attended Gardner School in Merrick County. After completing his education, he moved with his family to a farm near Primrose.
On March 18, 1936, he married Viola G. Hemmingsen at his family home near Primrose. They farmed with his family near Primrose until moving to the Fairview Community near Central City and then to Elba where they also farmed.
In 1948, they moved to their farm near Chapman. Mr. Johnston retired from farming in 1980, but continued to help his son. He also began selling hail insurance for Farmer's Mutual in the 1960's until his death. For the last six years he was in the Farmer's Mutual million dollar club.
Mr. Johnston was a charter member of the Friends Meeting House in Central City, was a member of the National Farm Organization and had served on the District 29 and Chapman School Boards for many years. He enjoyed fishing and loved his horses and farm work.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry of Grand Island; three brothers, Victor of Bend, Ore., Harold of Portland, Ore. and Willard of Vancouver, Wash.; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald; one infant grandson; one brother, George; two infant brothers; and one sister, Beulah Watts.
