Brad B. Herman, 34

(Oct. 7) MINATARE - Brad B. Herman, 34, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Minatare. He was born Sept. 16, 1968, at Alliance to Bruce and Shirley (Garner) Herman.

He is survived by his parents, Bruce and Shirley Herman of Boyd, Montana; sisters, Shelley Kraenow of Hemingford, and Shae Santamaria of Oceanside, New York; brother, Dever Herman of Boyd, Mont.; and his grandmother, Edith Garner of Alliance.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Reverend Craig Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given in care of the family at: 106 Dunlap Road, Hemingford, NE 69348. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Tonya M. Mracek, 33

(Oct. 7) MARSLAND - Tonya M. (Wickham) Mracek of Marsland died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Dawes County. She was 33. She was born Sept. 25, 1969, at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, N.D., to George and Carol (Wyland) Wickham.

Following her father's military service in England, the family returned to Hemingford when she was 3. She graduated from Hemingford High School in 1987. On July 16, 1993 she was united in marriage to Michael Mracek in Hot Springs, S.D. Her survivors are her husband, Michael, daughter Sarah; parents George and Carol Wickham of Hemingford, brothers and spouses, Michael and Angela Wickham of Alliance, John and Penny Wickham of Hemingford, Timothy and Becky Wickham of Alliance, sisters Tamela Wickham of Hemingford and Terry Pianalto of Alliance. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive her.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford, with the Reverend Craig Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Mike Adamson fund for his family that lost everything in the Ogallala flood earlier this year and Mike has also been diagnosed with cancer or to a trust fund for Sarah Mracek in care of Community First National Bank in Hemingford. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Wickiser, 70

(Oct. 4) OMAHA - Richard C. Wickiser, 70, formerly of Alliance, died Sept. 23, 2002. He was an Alliance resident from 1987 until 1999. He served as the Commander for The American Legion Post 7 for the 1988-89 term.

He is survived by one son, R. Joseph (April) Wickiser; daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Orsi, Kellye O'Hara and Christina Wickiser; grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Emily, Christy, Eva, Beth and Olivia; and great-grandchildren, John and Michael all of Omaha. He also is survived by his sister Maralee Rischling of Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche Wickiser; one daughter, Kathleen; and one sister, Linda.

Norval S. Reno, 86

(Oct. 4) SCOTTSBLUFF - Norval S. Reno, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Beverly Health Care. He was born May 1, 1916, at Gordon, to William S. and Alyce S. (Higgins) Reno.

He married Ida W. Gerdes on Febr. 25, 1940, at Alliance. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge, Alliance Scottish Rite, Alliance Eastern Star, and the Cattle Capital Shrine Club. He was the owner and operator of the Texaco Bulk Service at Alliance and also enjoyed farming. He is survived by his wife, Ida Reno of Alliance; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Reno of Omaha, William and Sandi Reno of Alliance, and Russell and Julie Reno of Lincoln; daughter, Judy Ehernberger of Denver, Colo.; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Sam Kline of Gering eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother Emery Reno of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Myrtle Johnson of Gordon. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Everett, and a son-in-law, John Ehernberger.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Leighton Mekeal officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church, or the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Harwick, 90

(Oct. 2) CURTIS - Kenneth Harwick, 90, died Sept. 30, 2002, at Sunset Haven Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 5, 1912, at Moorefield, to Fayette Merle and Ethel (Grange) Harwick.

He graduated from moorefield High School in 1930. On Nov. 3, 1934, he married Faye Craig at Broken Bow. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1975. They farmed near Ingham and Moorefield. He was then employed by the City of Curtis. On Nov. 17, 1988, he married Ina Grace Harder at Stockville. He was a member of the Congregational Church. He is survived by his wife, Grace of Curtis; daughter, Lynda (Dennis) Drayton of Ainsworth; sons Larry (Judith) Harwick of Flagler, Colo., and Fayette (Lori) Harwick of Alliance; two step-daughters, Billie Christensen of Littleton, Colo., and Darlene (Tedd) Hinton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one step-son, Daniel (Karen) Smith of Maywood; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two-step-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one sister, Eugenie Rayback of Roseville, Calif.; and one brother, Fayette "Bud" (Ardis) Harwick of Curtis.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Moorefield Cemetery, with Pastor Leon Banzhaf officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, and 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Oct. 3. Memorials may be given to Central Plains Hospice at Cozad.

Forest P. Trenkle, 83

(Oct. 2) ALLIANCE - Forest P. "Pete" Trenkle, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at his home. He was born Oct. 18, 1918, on a homestead in western Sheridan County, to Herman and Clara (Eckman) Trenkle.

Along with his parents and brother, Chester, the family moved three months later to the Trenkle family ranch ten miles northeast of Alliance. He spent his childhood developing a love of the sandhills and livestock that flourished in those pastures. He related exciting tales of cattle drives across the open range, as well as good horse-swapping tales. During World War II he served for four years with the Army in the Pacific, primarily in Hawaii with a balloon battalion. Following his discharge in late 1945, he returned home. On Jan. 9, 1946, he married Lucile Tschudin at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They moved to the ranch where he raised Shorthorn cattle and later Angus cattle.In 1963, he began to lose his vision, a gradual process, eventually resulting in almost a total vision loss. This, however, did not hinder his strong will to continue ranching. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Nebraska Cattlemen Association. He is survived by his sons Terry and Gary Trenkle of Alliance; grandchildren, Tiffany and Maynor Leal, Stephanie Trenkle, Heather Trenkle, Gina and John Eisenbarth, Jill Trenkle and Lee Trenkle; and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by sisters-in-law, Evelyn Trenkle of Rushville, Rose Robbins of Bayard, Maryellen and Bill Tschudin, Catherine and Harvey Haas and Wilma Tschudin, all of Albion. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.

Mr. Trenkel's funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Revs. Martin T. Schnare and Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Glenwood James Boyles, 57

(Dec. 3) ALLIANCE - Glenwood James Boyles, 57, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance. He was born Aug. 4, 1945, in Seneca, Neb., to Robert and Zetta (Walker) Boyles.

On April 9, 1969, he was united in marriage to Ruby Krueger in Alliance. He later married Tommiann Zimmerman on Dec. 2, 1972, at York, Neb..She preceded him in death, as did his parents and a half-brother. He worked for Sesnia Aircraft in Windfield, Kan., from 1973 to 1976. He then worked as an automotive mechanic in Alliance, Mullen and North Platte until he was unable to work because of health reasons. His survivors include his sons David Boyles of Alliance, Robert Boyles of Brownlee, Neb., Steven Boyles of Las Vegas, Nev., daughter Angelica Boyles of St. Petersburg, Fla., brother Melvin Boyles of Mullen, sisters Darlene Osborn of Mullen, Nila Pettit of North Platte, uncles Glen and Gordon Walker of Kimball, Neb., and grandchildren, Dominick Boyles, Adrianna Boyles and Daniyel Boyles.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice, P.O. Box 21, Alliance, NE 69301 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home of Alliance is in charge of arrangements.

Constance Marie Rincker, 52

(Dec. 2) HAY SPRINGS - Constance Marie (McAllister) Rincker, 52, of Hay Springs, Neb., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron. She was born Feb. 20, 1950. Her parents were Robert "Speed" and Alma McAllister.

She attended school in Hot Springs, S. D., and was crowned Miss Fall River. She is survived by her husband Roger Rincker of Hay Springs; her mother Alma McAllister of Hot Springs, S.D.; her son Seth Stock of Hay Springs; daughters Chris Brings Plenty of Rapid City, S.D.; Monica Dryden of Rapid City, Robyn Dane of Chadron and, Kelly Rincker of Chadron; and three grandchildren. She also is survived by sister Karren Kruse of Rapid City, SD; and brother: Bob McAllister of Denver.

Mrs. Rincker's wake service will be held at 7 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. Anthony o Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs, S.D. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, also at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, S.D. A memorial has been established in Connie's memory to benefit her son Seth's education. Arrangements are in the care of McColley's Chapels of the Hills in Hot Springs, S.D.

Marilyn Mae Athey, 79

(Dec. 2) HEMINGFORD - Marilyn Mae Athey, 79, died Friday, Nov. 29, at Regional West Hospital Medical Center in Scottsbluff. She was born Dec. 12, 1922, a Hemingford. Her parents were Erle and Gladys (Danborn) Rockey.

She graduated from Hemingford High School and attended nursing college in Alliance. She was married to Kenneth L. Athey on Nov. 6, 1945, at San Luis Obispo, Calif. The couple returned to Hemingford, and later moved to Gering and then Minatare. Mr. Athey preceded her in death. She was one of the first telephone operators in Hemingford. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Minatare. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Wayble of Honalulu, Hawaii; three sons, David Athey of Scottsbluff, Bill Athey of Elm Creek and Ed Athey of Kingsport, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother Dale Rockey of Alliance.

Mrs. Athey's funeral will be t 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Paster Robert Haverick officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jerry Dean Griffith, 65

(Dec. 2) ALLIANCE - Jerry Dean Griffith, 65 died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Box Butte General Hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Johnstown, Neb., to Garold and Edna (Miller) Griffith.

His family moved to Chadron and Jerry graduated from Chadron Prep. He moved to Alliance in 1959. Jerry worked as a meat cutter at Safeway for over 40 years. On July 30, 1967, he married Sharon Forsstrom in Alliance. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagles, Elks and Panhandle Country Music Association. His survivors include his wife Sharon, daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Ken Rein of Alliance, grandchildren Tyson and Kolbee Rein, brother Doug and wife Jan Griffith of Breckenridge, Texas; sisters, Lucille Kirkpatrick of Hot Springs, SD, Betty House of Spokane, Wash., brothers Robert and wife Sheri Griffith of Ceresco, Neb., and Gary Griffith of Breckenridge, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and two brothers preceded him death.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jerry Mercer officiating. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice, Eagles Auxiliary Cancer Fund, United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donorâs choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Victoria Sue Huckfeldt, 55

(Dec. 2) ALLIANCE - Victoria Sue Huckfeldt, 55, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home in Alliance She was born Oct. 17, 1947, in Marysville, Kan., to Don and Beverly (Kelley) Edwards.

On July 9, 1974, she was united in marriage to Dean Huckfeldt in Rapid City, S.D. After their marriage they lived near Hay Springs where she worked at DeCastro Dental Clinic. Two years ago, they moved to Alliance and she has worked for the Alliance Public Schools. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Hay Springs and served on the Board of Directors for The Mission Store in Alliance. Her survivors include her husband Dean of Alliance, children and their spouses, Clyde and Pat Cammel of Virginia Beach, Va., Karen and Graham Stone of Rapid City, S.D., Dustin and Heather Huckfeldt of Pensacola, Fla,; six grandchildren, Darrell, Hannah, Jared, Mark, Tia and Alyssa; her mother Bev Edwards of Blue Rapids, Kan., sisters Linda O'Toole of Frankfort, Kan., Donna Rhyne of Topeka, Kan. and Janice Brooks of Blue Rapids, Kan. Her father preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at St.Peter's Lutheran Church at Mirage Flats, with Pastor Woody Hipple, Father Paul Mottl and Rev. Cheryl Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Hay Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Alliance Mission Store, 203 Box Butte Avenue, Alliance, NE 69301. Bates-Gould Funeral Home of Alliance is in charge of arrangements.
