Iola Grimminger

Iola Grimminger, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at her home.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. John M. Hayes will officiate. Mrs. Grimminger's remains were cremated.

A special time for those who wish to view mementos and pictures of her life and floral arrangements will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Tabitha Foundation, 4720 Randolph St., Lincoln, NE 68510.

Mrs. Grimminger was born icon on April 11, 1912, in Cotesfield to Hans L. and Mary (Sorensen) Hansen. She was a graduate of Hemingford High School.

She married Harry S. Grimminger on May 31, 1932, in Grand Island. He died in April 1963. Mrs. Grimminger was one of the first volunteers at Stuhr Museum. She later worked as a sales clerk for several businesses, the last of which was Miller and Paine.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and horse racing. She loved to read and had owned and operated a bookstore in Grand Island.

Survivors include three daughters, Jan (Mrs. Jim) Rosse of Irvine, Calif., Karen Grimminger of Grand Island and Kathy (Mrs. Steve) Wasserburger of Gering; two sons, Gwyer and Sam, both of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Havranek of Grand Island.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, a granddaughter and two brothers.

Geneva Bowers

BURWELL -- Geneva Bowers, 95, of Burwell died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Patricia Griess

HASTINGS -- Patricia A. Griess, 48, of Hastings died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Hall County.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach with the Rev. Kenneth J. West officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services Monday at the funeral home and at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Patricia A. Griess Memorial Fund.

Mrs. Griess was born icon on April 3, 1952, in Palmer to Ernest F. and Bernadene (Johnston) Bane. She graduated from Wolbach High School in 1970 and from Grand Island School of Business in 1971. She moved from Wolbach to Hastings in 1971.

She married Bryan D. Griess on June 30, 1995. She was a self-employed interior decorator.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Angela Engel of Omaha and Gayle Engel of Kearney; one son, Ben Engel of Ayr; four stepchildren, Jami Griess of Lincoln, Zachary Griess of Hastings and Cajun Griess and Nick Griess, both of Granby, Colo.; her mother, of Wolbach; two sisters, Jean Johnson of Omaha and Christine Rector of Westminster, Colo.; and one brother, Ernest Frank Bane Jr. of Wood River.

She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Carolyn Bane Caudill.

Herman Kruml

BURWELL -- Herman John Kruml, 72, of Burwell died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.

Visitation will be one hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Sargent American Legion.

Faye Stewart

ORD -- Faye E. Stewart, 95, of Ord died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services are pending at Ord Memorial Funeral Home.

Robert Parminter

EAGLE -- Robert E. Parminter, 45, of Eagle, formerly of Stromsburg, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. The Revs. Jeff Thurman and Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parminter was born icon on June 29, 1954, at Stromsburg to Everett and Betty (Blakeley) Parminter. He attended Stromsburg public schools; played football, basketball, track and baseball and played in the band in high school; and graduated in 1972. He attended Hastings College on a basketball scholarship and earned a bachelor of science in education in 1977.

He married Desiree Hibbard on Dec. 17, 1993, at Las Vegas. He had lived in Lincoln and Hastings and was shipping and receiving manager at Metal Works in Lincoln.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Chantel Knego, Gracie and Andie Parminter, all of Eagle; his parents, of Stromsburg; three sisters, Linda (Mrs. David) Rezabek of Dorchester, Nancy VanFossen of Columbus and Kathy Parminter of Lincoln; and two brothers, Tom Parminter of London and Bill Parminter of Lincoln.

Lola Widman

LINCOLN -- Lola Widman, 92, of Lincoln, formerly of Central City, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Paul Wieck

WASHINGTON -- Paul R. Wieck, 72, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Grand Island, died April 20, 2000, at Inova Alexandria Hospital of Alexandria, Va.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. Reader Dorothy Ervin will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Mr. Wieck was cremated.

Mr. Wieck was born icon on Aug. 6, 1927, to Frank and Elsie (Christensen) Wieck at Grand Island. He grew up on a farm outside Grand Island and was educated at a country school. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1946. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, briefly attended law school and graduated with a major in journalism.

He worked as a reporter and managing editor of the Rawlins, Wyo., Daily Times in the late 1950s. He joined the Albuquerque Journal in 1961 and became chief of its Washington bureau. He retired from the newspaper in 1991.

Mr. Wieck was elected to the Gridiron Club and was a member of the Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist.

He enjoyed gardening and entertaining around the swimming pool in his back yard.

Survivors include cousins and other relatives.

Hazel Rector

Hazel G. Rector of Grand Island died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Delvin Roper will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mrs. Rector was born icon at Cotesfield to Frank and Anna (Munson) Barnes. She grew up and was educated at Cotesfield and graduated from high school there.

She married Earle C. Rector on July 28, 1930, at Milford. Her husband worked for the railroad, and the couple lived in various places. They moved to Grand Island in 1960. She worked for Commercial Bank and Trust as a teller until she retired in 1974.

Mrs. Rector was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a church circle. She also helped with the mailing of "Tidings" at the church and was a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one sister, Elsie Curley of Blair; four nieces, Elna Lassen of Elba, Janice Hochstetler of Dannebrog, Kathleen Glinsmann of Shelton and Betty Coats of Kennewick, Wash.; and one nephew, Howard Barnes Jr. of Fort Calhoun.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and three sisters.

Shelley Daily

MILBURN -- Shelley R. Daily, 84, of Milburn, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gates Cemetery. Lynn Bartak and Gene Goben will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. The family will greet friends and relatives during this time.

Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow Church of Christ and the Custer County Hospice.

Mrs. Daily was born icon Aug. 29, 1915, in Hollis, Okla. to Daniel and Ella Mae (Jones) Bosley.

She married Myron E. Daily on Nov. 29, 1944, in Oklahoma City while he was in the U.S. Air Force. Following Mr. Daily's discharge from the Air Force, the couple lived at Milburn. Mr. Daily died Nov. 1, 1995.

Mrs. Daily was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Broken Bow. In earlier years, before many illnesses deterred her, she taught Bible classes for children. She also was hospitable to visiting preachers, preparing many meals for them.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth (Mrs. James) Sampson of Milburn; two grandsons; one sister, Tommie Lou Tabb of Garland, Texas; and one brother, James Bosley of Port Townsend, Wash.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Bernadine Hansen

ST. EDWARD -- Bernadine R. Hansen, 62, of St. Edward, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. The Rev. Vernon Knight will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Norfolk.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
