Ethel Falldorf

Ethel Beck Falldorf, 79, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Mrs. Falldorf will be cremated following services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the University of Nebraska Transplant Center.

Mrs. Falldorf was born icon on Dec. 2, 1919, at Greeley to Frank J. and Ellen E. (Snell) Meyers. She grew up and attended school in Greeley, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1938. She then moved to Grand Island.

She married James B. Beck on April 20, 1939, at Grand Island. Mrs. Falldorf worked in various jobs until 1955, when she went to work for State Farm Insurance Co. as a secretary in the claims department. She worked there until retiring in 1983.

Mr. Beck died on July 22, 1977.

She married Raymond Falldorf in December 1983. They enjoyed traveling, bowling and playing cards. She was an avid fan of Nebraska football and held season tickets for many years.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, BPO Does, the Saddle Club, the Platt-Duetsche and Platt-Duetsche Ladies Society.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Ruby (Mrs. Kenneth) Charron of Central City, Judy (Mrs. Charles) Mead of Wood River and Linda (Mrs. John) Books of Omaha; one son, Jim Beck Jr. of Austin, Minn.; three stepsons, Richard Falldorf of Wilber and Rod Falldorf and Randy Falldorf, both of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Meyers of Round Lake, Ill., and Gary Meyers of Grand Island.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanne Williams, June Meyers and an infant sister.

Lois Pankonin

Lois E. Pankonin, 87, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mrs. Pankonin was born icon on July 30, 1912, at Neligh to Gay and Ethel (Burlew) McDougal. She grew up and was educated at Neligh and graduated from Neligh High School.

She attended Wesleyan University, received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Wayne State College and did graduate work at Northwestern University. She taught in the North Platte schools.

She married Benjamin F. "Ben" Pankonin on Aug. 14, 1941, at Neligh. She lived at home until her husband was discharged from the U.S. Army after World War II. The couple then lived in Denver and later Chicago. They then lived in Pueblo, Colo., until moving to Chamberlain, S.D., where they operated McColley Funeral Home. The couple retired in 1975 and lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., until 1988, when they moved to Grand Island. Mr. Pankonin died in 1996.

Mrs. Pankonin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, John Pankonin of Grand Island and Richard Pankonin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Jane Louise (Mrs. Denny) Batterson of Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Richard G. McDougal of Bakersfield, Calif.

Rebecca Zlomke

ORD -- Rebecca Zlomke, 92, of Ord died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the hospital or the church.

Alton Aufdenkamp

KENESAW -- Alton A. Aufdenkamp, 68, of Kenesaw died Oct. 5, 1999, at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Wanda Lutheran Church at Juniata. The Rev. Harold King will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw. Further visitation will be one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour or the church.

Mr. Aufdenkamp was born icon on May 8, 1931, at Kenesaw to Henry F. and Emma Aufdenkamp. He attended Wanda Parochial School and graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1949.

He married Joyce Schierner on June 9, 1957, in Hastings. The couple later divorced.

After his marriage, he lived in Hastings until 1982, when he moved to Kenesaw to farm. He worked for Leon Plastic in Grand Island from 1957 until 1993, when he retired. He farmed part time until 1999.

He was a member of Zion Wanda Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Kent) Lomon of Salmon, Idaho, and Carol Morgan and Linda (Mrs. Philip) Gregory, both of Hastings; five grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Schultz of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel, in 1940.

Howard Bolli

ARCADIA -- Howard W. Bolli, 90, of Arcadia died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia. The Rev. Paixao Baptista will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Park Cemetery near Arcadia.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Lee Park Cemetery Fund or the family's choice.

Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bolli was born icon on Nov. 4, 1908, on the family farm in Loup County near Burwell to John and Phebe (Britton) Bolli. He attended Loup County rural schools and then continued to farm with his family.

He married Elvira Johnson on Dec. 24, 1937, at Taylor. The couple ranched near Taylor until 1940, when they moved to a ranch near Arcadia. The couple continued to farm and ranch until 1953, when they moved into Arcadia. They purchased the Skelly station and ran it for three years.

He returned to farming and ranching in the late 1980s. In February 1997, he moved to the Corner Cottage in Ord. In July 1999, he entered the Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Arcadia.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Demaris (Mrs. Al) Schmidt of Arcadia; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one grandson and four brothers, Raliegh, Clarence, Albert and Eldon Bolli.

Howard Hansen

WOOD RIVER -- Howard George Hansen, 90, of Wood River, formerly of Grand Island and the Archer area, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Home in Wood River.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hansen was born icon on Aug. 16, 1909, in Omaha to George J. and Anna Katherine (Anderson) Hansen. He attended school in Omaha until his family moved to Clarks. He graduated from Clarks High School. He worked his way across the Red River Valley by digging potatoes. He then returned to Clarks and farmed with his father.

He married Mabel Frazier on March 17, 1937, in Gibbon. They farmed near Clarks for several years and then moved to west of Archer, where they also farmed, raised Hereford cattle and sold and erected Chief grain bins.

They retired in 1980 and moved to Grand Island. Mrs. Hansen died on May 18, 1981.

Mr. Hansen married Edna E. Poole in Grand Island. He moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Wood River in March 1998.

While living in the Archer area, Mr. Hansen had been a member of the Archer Zion United Methodist Church and then belonged to Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island. He was a life member of the American Hereford Association and had been a member of the Archer school board.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carol (Mrs. Carrol) Ortegren, Nancy (Mrs. Roy) Glynn and Jan Huffman, all of Central City; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Hansen of Central City.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson; two sisters, Elva Cosner and Irene Hansen; and one brother, Thorwald Hansen.

Eugene Oakeson

ST. PAUL -- Eugene "Bud" Oakeson, 71, of St. Paul died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at the Howard County Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Robert Paulson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul with military rites by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul Library Foundation or the St. Paul EMTs.

Mr. Oakeson was born icon on March 11, 1928, at St. Paul to Elmer and Ethel (Kremlacek) Oakeson. He grew up in St. Paul, attended schools there and graduated in 1945.

He served in the U.S. Navy from June 13, 1945, to Aug. 21, 1946. He worked for Roberts Dairy.

He married Donna Wagner on March 8, 1952, at Worms. He continued to work for Roberts Dairy until 1966. He then worked at Citizens Bank and Trust. He graduated from the University of Colorado banking school. He retired in 1988.

His hobbies were fishing, hunting and traveling. He was active in the American Legion baseball program.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Post for 53 years and had served as commander. He was a past member of the Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Doug of Hastings and Dave of Brush, Colo.; five grandchildren; and one sister, Lorine (Mrs. John) Meier of Sunrise Beach, Mo.

Grace Rolfsmeyer

KEARNEY -- Grace Rolfsmeyer, 78, of Kearney, formerly of Litchfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Litchfield Christian Church. The Rev. Ken Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the Litchfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
