Harold Anderson

STROMSBURG -- Harold H. Anderson, 89, of Stromsburg died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. The Revs. Jeff Thurman and Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home.

Roy Bremer

SCOTIA -- Roy E. Bremer, 94, of Scotia died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services were on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. The Rev. Mark Middendorff officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Rescue Unit or the church.

Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bremer was born icon on Dec. 15, 1904, in Valley County to Louis and Martha (Klein) Bremer. They later moved north of Scotia, where he attended school.

He married Eunice Mallery on Aug. 15, 1928. They farmed north of Scotia for a year before moving to a farm west of Scotia.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. He held many church offices and was a past member of the Scotia school board. He enjoyed raising and showing Chester White hogs and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Harold of Scotia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Bonnie Harnan; an infant son, Dale; a sister, Blanch Bremer Bradley; and two brothers, Glenn and Willard Bremer.

Raymond Cyboron

BOELUS -- Raymond B. Cyboron, 80, of Boelus died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Rockville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake service, Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the church, the Boelus Emergency Medical Technician Unit or the Boelus Rural Fire Board.

Jacobsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cyboron was born icon on June 7, 1919, near Silver Creek to John and Leona (Czapala) Cyboron. He moved with his family to a farm in the Boelus area in 1921. He was educated at District 28 School at Boelus and graduated from Boelus High School.

He farmed with his family before his marriage.

He married Henrietta Hilmer on Nov. 5, 1946, at Farwell. The couple farmed in the Boelus area. They moved to a farm north of Boelus in 1964. The couple moved into Boelus in 1982, and he continued to work on the farm.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Rockville and the Boelus Rural Fire Board.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gordon and Dan, both of Ravenna, and Dennis of Boelus; four daughters, Glenda Cyboron of Grand Island, Gladys Clint Covey of Lakeville, Minn., Donna (Mrs. Mark) Nielsen of St. Paul and Dorothy Doran Moss of Cairo; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Hansen of St. Paul, Elnora (Mrs. Gene) Emerson of Elyria, Ohio, and Mary Ann (Mrs. Donald) Plambeck of Grand Island; and six brothers, Leonard of Inglewood, Colo., Stanley and Benny, both of Boelus, Val and Edward, both of Grand Island, and John of Inglewood.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Adolph; and one infant sister.

Ethel Kruml

ORD -- Ethel Marie Kruml, 89, of Ord died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with an 8 p.m. rosary, Tuesday at Ord Memorial Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Kruml was born icon on Sept. 14, 1910, at St. Paul to Fred and Doris (Brown) Stephenson. When she was a young child, the family moved to Arcadia and later to Burwell. After she was educated, she and her father owned and operated the Ericson Hotel in Ericson.

She married Edward J. Kruml on June 5, 1941, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Ericson. The couple lived on the Kruml ranch six miles northwest of Ericson. Mr. and Mrs. Kruml hunted for pheasants, ducks and grouse and fished. Mrs. Kruml would do all the cooking for the hunters who would visit in the fall and winter months.

After Mrs. Kruml moved to Ord, she worked for a number of years at Douthit's Diner and the Ord Elks Lodge. She had lived at the Valley County Nursing Home since she was stricken with Alzheimer's.

Mrs. Kruml liked to garden, raise chickens and milk cows. She would then sell the eggs, cream and milk.

She was active in St. Theresa's Altar Society. In her later years, she was active in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Survivors include one son, Ed of Ord; one daughter, JoAnn (Mrs. Rod) Schainost of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Marion Reynolds

KEARNEY -- Marion Edna Reynolds, 91, of Kearney, formerly of Broken Bow, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at St. Luke's Good Samaritan Village in Kearney.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Brewster Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Brewster Ambulance Fund.

Mrs. Reynolds was born icon on May 10, 1908, on the family homestead in Brewster to Holly and Mabelle (Copp) Baker. She graduated from high school in Ord and attended Grand Island Business School.

She married George Wilkinson in the spring of 1928. He passed away in 1955.

She later married Virgil Reynolds.

She was a ranch wife and, following the death of her first husband, purchased the Baker family homestead from her father. She operated the ranch for 20 years, eventually selling it to her grandson, which continued the family ownership since 1884.

After the death of her first husband, she returned to school in Grand Island. Following a refresher course, she embarked on a career as a legal secretary working in Burwell and finally Broken Bow.

She was active in the Broken Bow Seventh-day Adventist Church until she moved to Kearney.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine (Mrs. Eldon) Martindale of Elm Creek; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, a grandson and four brothers.

Sadie Rhoades

CALLAWAY -- Sadie M. Rhoades, 87, of Callaway died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Callaway District Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Revs. Emmitt Fowler and Dennis Woodward will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

A memorial has been established to the family for dialysis in Nebraska.

Mrs. Rhoades was born icon on March 20, 1912, in Broken Bow to Andrew D. and Stenna R. (Vistrup) Christensen. She attended school in Broken Bow.

She married Alpha R. Rhoades on Aug. 11, 1930, at Merna. Mr. Rhoades died on July 12, 1990.

Survivors include three sons, Claude Rhoades of Anselmo, Walter Rhoades of Brewster and Marion Rhoades of Thedford; three daughters, Madeline McFate of Callaway, Joyce Fowler of Buena Vista, N.M., and Patricia Strand of Ainsworth; 22 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie McDermott and Julia Fritz, both of Broken Bow.

She was preceded in death by an infant son.

Melissa Smith

LOUP CITY -- Melissa A. Smith, 90, of Loup City died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City. The Rev. Lawrence Garland will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Rose Lane Home.

Mrs. Smith was born icon on Feb. 12, 1909, at Inavale to Orin and Mandora (Hedge) Harvey. She grew up on the family farm north of Inavale. After her mother's death, she assisted her father in farming and keeping the home. After selling the family farm in 1930, she moved with her father to Kearney.

She married Earl Smith on Dec. 18, 1941, at Kearney. The couple lived in Kearney until 1972, when they moved to Loup City. Mr. Smith died on April 18, 1980.

Mrs. Smith continued to live in Loup City and lived for a number of years at Westside Park until her health necessitated her moving to the Rose Lane Home in 1989.

She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Red Cloud.

Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews, including Doralene Weed of Kearney and Ben Harvey of Fremont.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hassal, Jim, Port and Phil Harvey; and three sisters, Hazel Harvey, Geneva Dyer and Rachel Robbins.

Rosemary Murray

GRANT -- Rosemary Murray, 85, of Grant died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at the Grant Nursing Home.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Elsie United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Elsie Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murray was born icon on Nov. 13, 1913, at Elsie to Charles and Myrtie (McCullough) Softley. She graduated from Elsie High School in 1930 and later received an elementary education degree from Kearney State Teachers College.

She taught for 21 years, mainly in the Madrid and Elsie areas.

She married Art Murray in 1946 and helped him run the Madrid Herald. Mr. Murray died in 1982.

Survivors include one son, Glen Murray of Grand Island; one daughter, Carol Murray of Madrid; two sisters; and two brothers.
