Tamara Jo (Switzer) Watts
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Tamara Jo (Switzer) Watts, 41, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Taylor, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in Prescott.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor. The Rev. Roy Kiester will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Rhoad Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Watts was born
on Oct. 5, 1957, at Sargent to Harold and Colleen (Goehring) Switzer. She grew up on the family farm in western Loup County, attended Westend Rural School through the eighth grade and graduated from Loup County Schools at Taylor in 1975. She then attended Platte Community College in Columbus. She traveled with the Platt Valley Choral Caritari Group. She later studied music at Mankato State University in Minnesota.
She moved to Tempe, Ariz., in 1979. She worked for Zale's Diamonds Corp. in Tempe.
She married Glenn C. Watts on Aug. 15, 1980, at Pleasant Valley Gospel Church in Loup County. They lived in Phoenix. She signed with the Eternal Praise Agency and sang at many churches, state fairs and on television. They moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1989. She was a member of the YABAPAI College Women's Chamber Choir.
Mrs. Watts was active in her church and singing organizations.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Calvin of Prescott; a daughter, Amanda of Prescott; her mother, of Taylor; a sister, Cristi (Mrs. Randy) Berg of Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers, Bruce of Burwell and Tom of Taylor.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Nathan; and her father.
Vernon Fredericksen
Vernon D. "Fred" Fredericksen, 66, of Grand Island died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Karohl officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Children's Home in Omaha or Mid-Nebraska Individual Services in Grand Island.
Mr. Fredericksen was born
on June 2, 1933, at Omaha to Nels and Irene (Swanson) Fredericksen. He grew up and was educated in the Nebraska Sandhills and graduated from garden County High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953, served in the Korean War and was discharged in 1955. He returned to Nebraska and graduated from Kearney State College.
He married Sue Holbert on July 24, 1960, at Kearney. They lived in Kansas. In 1964, they moved to Kearney and in 1973 they moved to Grand Island. He worked for Farmers Mutual Insurance of Nebraska for 35 years as district manager of claims in central Nebraska.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and traveling in his free time.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Grand Island; one son, Scott E. Fredericksen of Aurora, Colo.; one daughter, Kristen Fredericksen of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Arms of Grants Pass, Ore.
Roy Bremer
SCOTIA -- Roy E. Bremer, 94, of Scotia died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Middendorff will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Scotia.
Visitation will be before services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Rescue Unit or Scotia Zion Lutheran Church.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bremer was born
Dec. 15, 1904 in Valley County to Louis and Martha (Klein) Bremer. They later moved north of Scotia where he attended school.
He married Eunice Mallery on Aug. 15, 1928. They farmed north of Scotia for a year before moving to a farm west of Scotia.
He was a member of Scotia Zion Lutheran Church where he held many church offices; he was a past member of the Scotia School Board. He enjoyed raising and showing Chester white hogs, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Harold of Scotia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Bonnie Harnan; infant son, Dale; sister, Blanch Bremer Bradley; and two brothers, Glenn and Willard Bremer.
Annabelle Hansen
FULLERTON -- Annabelle Hansen, 95, of Fullerton died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton. Rev. Timothy Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Fullerton Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Hansen was born
Oct. 8, 1903, at Cedar Rapids to George and Carrie (Michael) Rieken. Her family later moved to Nance County where she attended country schools.
She married Louis Hansen on Jan. 29, 1925, in Howard County. They farmed near Wolbach. In 1944, they moved to the Timber Creek area near Belgrade where they farmed. In 1965, they moved to Fullerton where she worked at the school cafeteria from 1970 to 1976.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Garden Club, Timber Creek Extension Club and Pleasant Ridge Extension Club. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Norman of Colby, Kan.; three daughters, Eva (Mrs. Don) Fitzgerald of Fullerton, Ona (Mrs. Dean) Foland of Columbus, Sharon (Mrs. John) Fehrs of Norfolk; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Rieken of Griswold, Iowa; two sisters, Alice Rolf of Red Oak, Iowa, Shirley (Mrs. Richard) Northrup of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Lloyd and Vernon; daughter, Ann; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; and six brothers.
Wright Robertson
LOUP CITY -- Wright A. Robertson, 86, of Loup City died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with the Rev. Carl Jantz officiating. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup City emergency medical technicians or the Regular Baptist Church.
Mr. Robertson was born
on April 18, 1913, at Mason city to Charles and Ona (Loucks) Robertson. He attended Blackhills Basin School and farmed with his father in the Basin area south of Mason City.
He married Janice Whitehead on Oct. 5, 1940, at Mason City. They farmed nine miles south of Mason City until 1950. They moved to Loup City, where he continued to farm and raise livestock. In 1970, he retired from farming. He worked several years as a mechanic for Dorsey and Cook and Later for Dorsey and Ericson.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Loup City; one son, James of North Loup; one daughter, Joy Robertson of Denver; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loucks and Emerson; and four sisters, Leona Ashmore, Alta Moritzky, Pauline Johnson and Lois Waters.
Robert J. 'Bob' Myers
RONAN, Mont. -- Robert J. "Bob" Myers, 55, of Ronan, Mont., formerly of the Grand Island area, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Ronan.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Valley Bank of Ronan Estate of Robert J. Myers.
Mr. Myers was born
June 16, 1944, to John and Marilda (Fent) Myers in Grand Island. He grew up in Omaha where he graduated from Tech High.
He had worked for Tri City Signs, Peterson Farms and Midwest Sheet Metal in Grand Island before moving to Montana in 1997. He was employed by Jore Corp. at the time of his death.
He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, camping, crafts, taxidermy and his dog "Spookie."
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, John Myers of Missouri and two sisters, Joanna Ringering of Iowa and Marlene Scott of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alida Budde-Firth
Alida L. Budde-Firth, 87, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Park Place Nursing Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale. The Rev. Michael Awe will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with members of the family present during that time at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Oakdale Cemetery Association, Lebensraum or Christ Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Budde-Firth was born
May 27, 1912, to Alva "Jack" and Alida (Jensen) Burkhead at Oakdale. She grew up and was raised by her grandparents at Oakdale. She also was educated in Oakdale.
She married Conrad Budde on April 7, 1929, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Tilden, Norfolk, Wisner, Wahoo and Grand Island. He died in 1975.
She married Leslie Firth on Jan. 15, 1976, at Grand Island. The couple lived in York until retirement when they moved to Hampton. They moved to Grand Island two years ago to live at Lebensraum.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She enjoyed sewing and ceramics. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Hospital in Grand Island.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gene Budde of Cairo; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Rothwell of Monument, Colo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband.
'Ed' Ruhe Waldo
E. "Ed" Ruhe, 83, of 2508 Commerce died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Ruhe was born
June 28, 1916, to Waldo E. and Ada (McKown) Ruhe on the Taylor Ranch at Abbott. He was educated in the Grand Island Public Schools.
He married Dorothy Torskey on April 14, 1941, in Grand Island. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving from Feb. 19, 1941, until his discharge on June 3, 1945. He lived in Grand Island the rest of his life. He was employed by Fairacres Dairy, Milne Oil Company and Speltz-Schultz Lumber Company before starting Ruhe Construction.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the VFW Clubs in Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald of Grand Island, Wayne of Henderson and Royce of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Flora Halstead of Ione, Wash., Elaine Perkins of Grand Island, Maxine Adamson of New Braunfels, Texas, Darlene Beacham of Metaline Falls, Wash., Neva Boyd of Grand Island and Harriett Meyer of Central City.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Duryea; a grandson; four brothers, Henry, Wilson, Eldon and Melvin and three sisters, Lorena, Elva and Eunice.
