Leonard Ambrose

ST. PAUL -- Leonard L. Ambrose, 83, of St. Paul died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas G. Hyde will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul, with military rites by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119 in St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Veterans Memorial Wall.

Mr. Ambrose was born icon June 2, 1916, on the family farm near St. Paul to Louis and Rose (Lanka) Ambrose. He grew up on the farm and attended St. Paul school, graduating from high school in 1934.

He worked in Omaha at Creamery Packing. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in San Bernadino, Calif. and Cheyenne, Wyo.

He married Phyllis Jacobson on May 24, 1951, in St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm nine miles south of St. Paul, where he farmed with his parents and brother. The couple moved to St. Paul in April 1998.

He raised watermelons, and his family sold them on roadside stands for more than 50 years.

Mr. Ambrose played the violin, playing with some dance bands in Grand Island.

He was a member of the Methodist faith and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119 in St. Paul. He served on the District No. 118 school board and Grand Island Rural Fire Department board.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jon of St. Paul; one daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Larry) Ronzzo of Ord and one brother, Robert of Camas, Wash.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold.

Roy Bremer

SCOTIA -- Roy E. Bremer, 94, of Scotia died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Middendorff will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia.

Visitation will be prior to service time at the church on Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Rescue Unit or the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church.

Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Bromwich

BROKEN BOW -- Mabel E. Bromwich, 97, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kent Cemetery near Taylor. The Rev. David Evans will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Pioneer Center in Broken Bow.

Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bromwich was born icon June 30, 1902, to Osccola C. and Laura E. (McClimans) Cram in Loup County. She attended Madison Square School in Loup County and high school in Taylor.

She married Loy S. Bromwich on Oct. 22, 1922, at Ord. They lived in the Taylor area. Her husband died in 1926 from a horse accident. She attended Grand Island Business School and returned to the ranch near Taylor in the summer. In 1937, she moved to Washington D.C., and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 1941, she moved from Washington D.C. to Cheyenne, Wyo., and also lived in Omaha. She worked for the U.S. Railway Mail Service.

In 1979, she moved to Broken Bow. She also worked in the Security State Bank in Broken Bow as a clerk and legal secretary. She became a resident of Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow in April.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Custer Chapter of the D.A.R.

Survivors include one daughter, Ava Hastert of Omaha; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Honor Duelks of Laguna Hills, Calif., and a half brother, Fred Cram of Gates.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce; one brother, John "Jack" and two sisters, Julia McNeely and Berniece.

Annabelle Hansen

FULLERTON -- Annabelle Hansen, 95, of Fullerton died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton with the Rev. Timothy Wagner officiating.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.

Wright Robertson

LOUP CITY -- Wright A. Robertson, 86, of Loup City died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. The Rev. Carl Janzt will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Loup City EMTs or the Regular Baptist Church.

Janet Seberg

FULLERTON -- Janet Seberg, 85, of Fullerton died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at the Litzenberg County Hospital in Central City.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jim Howland will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Seberg was born icon Feb. 4, 1914, to Dr. George A. and Anna (Rollins) Clark in Neligh. She grew up in Elwood and graduated from high school in 1931. She attended Kearney State College for two years. She worked for the Tri-County office in Hastings for several years.

She married Dr. John Seberg on May 1, 1938, at Elwood. They lived in Fullerton where her husband was a dentist. She was a homemaker.

She enjoyed playing bridge. When she was in college, she played the violin in the college symphony. She also enjoyed walking.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and PEO.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Richard of New Port Beach, Calif.; and one daughter, Diane (Mrs. Allan) Myers of Roseville, Calif.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard and a sister, Barbara Wilson.

Evelyn Bixenmann

OMAHA -- Evelyn L. Bixenmann, 70, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in Omaha.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a rosary/wake service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bixenmann was born icon July 18, 1929, to John V. and Agnes E. (Hanley) Ganow at Grand Island. She was educated in Grand Island and graduated from St. Mary's High School.

She married Richard L. Bixenmann on April 15, 1950, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island. In the 1950s, she was the office secretary for International Harvester Co. Later, she was employed as receptionist for Dr. Leo Adams and worked for the doctors that took over his practice after his retirement. She retired in 1994.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gerard of Lincoln and Jeffrey of Omaha; two daughters, Michaela Marie (Mrs. Pat) Dougherty and Ronda (Mrs. Steve) Lea Bishop, both of Omaha; seven grandchildren and one sister, Shirley (Mrs. Daryl) Thavenet of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michaela Ann.

Wesley Leymaster

LINCOLN -- Wesley Herbert Leymaster, 82, of Lincoln, formerly of Broken Bow, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at Haven Manor in Lincoln.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Stark will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Memorials are suggested to Little League Baseball.

Mr. Leymaster was born icon Sept. 22, 1917, to Herbert Ray and Mary Margaret (Walters) Leymaster at Benkelman. He lived in Benkelman until the age of 10, then moved with his family to a farm south of Broken Bow. He was a 1935 graduate of Broken Bow High School.

He married Cynthia Belle Eisenhauer on Aug. 17, 1939. He enlisted in the US Army in December 1944 and spent nine months in Japan and the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in April 1946. He was a gasoline distributor and drove a tank truck for Phillips 66 for 30 years. In 1968, he became employed at Becton Dickinson in Broken Bow. Mrs. Leymaster died Jan. 1, 1972.

He married E. Blanche Ryan on Feb. 24, 1973, at Taylor. He retired Sept. 30, 1982, after 14 years of employment with Becton Dickinson. She died Dec. 16, 1987. In 1996, he moved to Lincoln to be close to his son and family and lived in a retirement complex.

He was a lifetime member of the Broken Bow Elks Lodge No. 1688 and also a lifetime member of VFW. He enjoyed playing on several baseball leagues, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Marvin) Brott of Richardson, Texas; one son, Walter Leymaster of Lincoln; three stepdaughters, Kay (Mrs. Lyle) Schall of Broken Bow, Javene (Mrs. Richard) Nielsen of Hastings and Jeanne (Mrs. Chuck) Harshfield of Montana; two grandsons; one granddaughter; 12 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian Larson of Broken Bow.

He was preceded in death by both wives and one brother.

Pearl Amos

MARYSVILLE, Kan. -- Pearl M. Amos, 94, of Marysville, Kan., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999, at CMH Long Term Care.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent. The Rev. Mark Christ will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.

Mrs. Amos was born icon March 4, 1905, to Jeff and Minta Gibbons at Sargent. She attended schools in the Sargent area.

She married Claris Amos. They lived in Sargent. Later they moved to Shubert where they farmed until 1977. She was a housewife who helped farm with her husband. They later lived in Falls City, then moved back to Sargent where they lived until Mr. Amos died in 1988. She then moved to Marysville to live with her daughter.

Survivors include one son, Duane Amos of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Lindsay of Marysville; two sisters, Tressie Russell of Broken Bow and Sylvia Cooksley of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Goetting and a son, William Amos.
