Ellen Wolf

Ellen B. Wolf, 84, of Grand Island died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Leo Parish Community. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Woodland Cemetery in North Bend. Moser Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the North Bend Central Foundation.

Mrs. Wolf was born icon Dec. 9, 1914, to John and Anna M. (Gietzen) Byrnes at Columbus. She graduated from the St. Francis Academy in Columbus.

She married Arden D. Wolf on May 22, 1938, at Columbus. They lived in Columbus and Grand Island before moving to North Bend in 1953. Mr. Wolf died March 23, 1974. In December 1981, she moved back to Grand Island.

She was elected to the Board of Directors of the Platte Valley Bank in 1963 and served as secretary to the board from 1968 to 1997. In 1974, she became vice president of the bank.

She was a member and past president of the Board of Education of the North Bend High School from 1959 to 1968. She also served as president of the Nebraska State School Boards Association from 1965 to 1966. She was a member of St. Leo Parish Community, a past member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend and served as a volunteer worker at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter in Grand Island.

She enjoyed bridge, fishing and hunting and Nebraska football and traveling.

Survivors include two sons, John A. Wolf of Grand Island and Thomas E. Wolf of North Bend; one daughter, Anne (Mrs. David) W. Sabott of Boulder, Colo.; one brother, Jack Byrnes of Columbus; two sisters, Louise Isgrig of Fremont and Katherine Byrnes of Columbus; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, and a sister, Mary.

Marjorie Frey

ALBION -- Marjorie Jean Frey, 76, of Albion died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. The Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Visitation will continue at 6:30 p.m. at the church with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Frey was born icon Oct. 13, 1923, to Ed and Leda (Hackney) Nearhood at Cedar Rapids. She was educated at Cedar Rapids Public Schools and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1941. During high school, she worked at the Cedar Rapids Press newspaper office. Following graduation, she moved to Lincoln where she worked at Brown's Printing.

She married Walter Frey on Aug. 25, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. They lived and farmed west of Albion until moving to Albion in 1991.

She was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion and worked as a volunteer at St. Michael's school library. She was a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary and the first woman to serve on the election board. She also was a member of the Altar Society

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Donald, Mike, James and John, all of Albion; one daughter, Pat (Mrs. Bob) McKenzie of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Kenton, Donald and one sister, Corkie.

Ruth Godfrey

GIBBON -- Ruth A. Godfrey, 91, of Gibbon died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon. The Rev. Bob Loffer will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center, the Bethel Methodist Church, or the Gibbon Emergency Unit.

There will be no visitation.

Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Godfrey was born icon May 5, 1908, to William and Annabell (Sober) Loffer on a farm north of Sumner. The family moved to the Shelton area where she grew up. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1926. She then attended Kearney Normal School (Teachers College) and taught rural school in the Gibbon-Shelton area.

She married Walter Godfrey on Jan. 8, 1931, and they lived in the Gibbon-Shelton area. They worked for various farmers in the area before farming their own farm northwest of Gibbon. She was employed at the Kearney T.B. Hospital from 1955 to 1960. Mr. Godfrey died in November 1970 and she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 1992.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne of Longmont, Colo., Larry of Gibbon and Lyle of Garden City, Kan.; two daughters, Delores (Mrs. Harold) Corder of Ft. Lupton, Colo. and Ila (Mrs. Lyle) Nehls of Kearney; one brother, Lloyd Loffer of Shelton; one sister, Opal Ripp of Wood River; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, a great-grandson, one brother and one sister.

Alma Whitefoot

BOELUS -- Alma R. Whitefoot, 70, of Boelus died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island.

Mrs. Whitefoot was cremated.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Boelus Civic Center. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Souleville Cemetery near Boelus.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Survivors include her husband, Gene of Boelus; two sons, Wayne of Boelus and Michael of Grand Island; one daughter, Velda Rae (Mrs. Tom) Butters of Kearney; one sister, Alvina (Mrs. Norman) Pedersen of Boelus; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Doris Kinnison

YUBA CITY, Calif. -- Doris Claire Kinnison, 84, of Yuba City, Calif., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at the Fountains Care Center in Yuba City.

Family services will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kinnison was born icon March 13, 1915, at Wymore. She lived in Grand Island for 25 years. She worked as a secretary for the Reno School District for 15 years. She lived in Yuba City for three years.

She was a member of Kiwanis, Nebraska Chapter AB, PEO, and was a church deaconess for the Church of Christ in Sun City, Calif.

Survivors include her husband, C.B. Kinnison of Yuba City; a son, Michael Kinnison of Yuba City; a daughter, Susan Nelson of Central City; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Martina Bockstahler

Martina I. Bockstahler, 88, of Grand Island, formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo's Church. The Revs. Jack Rademacher and Walter M. Phelan will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from noon until 7 p.m. Monday with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. at Kleine Funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Leo's Parish or St. Francis Hospice.

Mrs. Bockstahler was born icon June 27, 1911, at Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Virgil and Mary (Martinelli) Pieruccini. She grew up and attended school in the Cicero, Ill. area.

She worked in Chicago as a postal telegraph operator.

She married Charles "Carl" Bockstahler on Sept. 5, 1931, in Cicero, Ill. They lived in the Chicago area and then moved to Tinley Park, Ill. in 1934 where she owned and operated a Yard and Yarn Shop. In 1951 they moved to Pomona, Calif. and then to Ventura, Calif. were she worked for Sears and Roebuck as head cashier for 20 years.

They retired in 1973 and moved to Mountain Home, Ark. where she worked at the Mountain Home School for three years. Shortly after the death of her husband in 1989, she moved to Grand Island to be closer to family. She moved to Lebensraum Retirement Home in March of 1999. She entered Tiffany Square Care Center several weeks ago because of failing health.

She was a member of the St. Leo Parish Community, the Catholic Daughters, the Royal Neighbors of America, Theo Support Group, Sear's Retiree's Club of Grand Island, AARP, St. Leo Womens Group and the Chrysalis Craft Group. She enjoyed knitting.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Mrs. Jerry) Quinn of Grand Island, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Virginia and Virginia "Ginger."

Henry 'Deets' Dietrich

Henry "Deets" Dietrich, 91, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Eldora Artrup

EDGAR -- Eldora May Artrup, 85, of Edgar, formerly of Fairfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at the Integrated Health Services of Edgar.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the McLoughlin Funeral Home in Clay Center. The Rev. Harold Fox will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Artrup was born icon March 27, 1914, to Nelson and Blanche (Douglas) Woolen in Lawrence.

She married James Paul Artrup on Feb. 24, 1951. They farmed near Fairfield. They retired in 1963 and moved to Fairfield. Her husband died Aug. 13, 1978.

She moved to the Cedar View Apartments in Fairfield, then to the Harvard Rest Haven and later to the Integrated Health Services in Edgar in 1990.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Williams of Lodi, Calif., and Marlin "Nick" Williams of Grand Island; a stepdaughter, Wilma Hill of Lasluz, N.M.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald; two stepsons, Ernest and Ray; three brothers and five sisters.

Pearl Seufert

LINCOLN -- Pearl Seufert, 83, formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Eastmont Towers in Lincoln.

Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Kathy Freese CRESTON, IOWA -- Kathy E. Freese, 56, of Creston, Iowa, formerly of Albion, died of cancer Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at her home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. Local services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Albion.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Visitation will continue at the church Wednesday prior to services.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
