Larry Bauer

MINDEN - Larry M. Bauer, 62, of Minden, died Oct. 11, 1999, at his home in Minden.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Minden. The Rev. Kathy Bryant will officiate.

There will be no visitation. Layton Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bauer was born icon April 3, 1937 in Minden to Clarence and Esther (Christensen) Bauer. He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School, Hastings College and attended the University of Nebraska Medical School for four years.

He taught school in Red Cloud, Bennington and Omaha. He returned to Minden and owned and operated Criterion Photo.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Minden.

Survivors include one daughter, Gigi Askins of College Station, Texas; two granddaughters; and one sister, Judith Nelson of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lucille Beck

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Lucille Beck, 73, of Sunnyvale, Calif., formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, in a convalescent hospital in Sunnyvale.

Private services were in San Jose, Calif. Mrs. Beck was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Fund.

Mrs. Beck was born icon on March 10, 1926, at Chapman to Louie and Anna (Rauert) Siemers. She attended District 18 School in Hall County. She worked as a beautician for Cecil's Beauty and Mari Posa Salon.

She married Neal Beck of Bertrand on Aug. 14, 1943. They moved to California in 1945. In California, she worked for Hewlett Packard for 30 years until retiring. She had been in the convalescent hospital for eight years.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Mrs. Craig) Heacock of San Jose, Calif.; two sons, Steven of Sparks, Nev., and Randy of Mount Herman, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Minor of Lancaster, Calif., and Katherine Bader of Grand Island; and one bother, Robert Siemers of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

Josephine Peterson

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. - Josephine Misko Peterson, 97, of Cottonwood, Ariz., formerly of Ord, died Oct. 23, 1999, at Reo Verde Care Center in Cottonwood.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Peterson was born icon Sept. 26, 1902, in Ord to Frank and Mary (Reyman) Misko.

She had lived in California for many years and joined her family in the Verde Valley in Arizona in 1994.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Peterson of Clarkdale, Ariz. and two grandsons.

Elmer Perrill Elmer C. Perrill, 77, of Grand Island died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mr. Perrill was born icon July 17, 1922, to Joseph and Hilda (Saltzman) Perrill at Norton, Kan. He grew up in Norton and received he education in Lenora, Kan. He graduated from Lenora High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1942, serving in the Pacific Theater before being honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant in 1946.

Mr. Perrill lived in Belleville, Kan., where he was employed by the coop. He married Delores Fuller on April 1, 1967, in Cozad. They moved to Grand Island in 1979, where he managed the Farmers Union Feed Mill until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement, he worked at Skagway.

Mr. Perrill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Eagles No. 378, the VFW, the American Legion and Pheasants Forever. He served as secretary and treasurer for the South Central Nebraska Sportsman Club. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, hunting, fishing and Big Red football.

He is survived by his wife, Delores of Grand Island; three sons, Michael Fuller of Salina, Kan., Ron Fuller of Lincoln and Chuck Fuller of Grand Island; five daughters, Cheri (Mrs. Perry) Ladd of Merino, Colo., Pam (Mrs. Doug) Doty of Grand Island, Cynthia (Mrs. Tony) Jacoby of Wood River, Peggy Scally of Lawrence, Kan., and Patty Long of Norton, Kan., 16 grandchildren; three-great grandchildren; five sisters, Erma Hackney of Norton, Kan., Ellen Couchet of Abilene, Kan., Mabel Bohl of Norton, Kan., Millie Byrne of Manhattan, Kan., Gladys Minshall of Norton, Kan., and Ivalee Grove of Horton, Kan.; and one brother, Lewis Perrill of Simla, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd.

Ruth Bacon

LEXINGTON -- Ruth "Naomi" Bacon, 90, of Lexington died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at her home in Lexington.

There will be a private family ceremony for inurnment at Fort McPherson National Cemetery prior to memorial services that will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. The Rev. Todd Karges will officiate.

There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church Music Department. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bacon was born icon April 2, 1909, at Lyons to Melvin and Etta May (Hart) Metcalf. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1927 and from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1931 with a degree in music education and voice. She was a member of the Willard Sorority.

She married Lloyd Bacon of Lexington on Oct. 24, 1932, in Lyons. They lived in the Lexington area for 11 years. Mrs. Bacon moved to Denver in 1943 while her husband served overseas in the U.S. Army. They returned to Lexington in 1946.

While in Denver, Mrs. Bacon was employed by Joslins Department Store. She assisted her husband in the banking business for 25 years. That included living in North Platte from 1963 to 1969.

Mrs. Bacon was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She was a soloist in the choir for more than 50 years and also sang for numerous weddings and funerals. She was an active member of the Women's Society and other church committees.

She was a charter member of Chapter FS of PEO in Lexington, a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, a charter member of VFW Auxiliary and a past member of the Lexington Musicale.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of Lexington; a daughter, Carole (Mrs. Gary) Webster of Central City; and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Milton.

Audrey Crosby

SPALDING -- Audrey E. Crosby, 86, of Spalding died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at the Friendship Villa in Spalding.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Spalding with the Rev. Charles Landers officiating. Burial will be at the Grand View Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Dolce-Scheef Mortuary.

Mrs. Crosby was born icon June 13, 1913, to John and Mabel (Nelson) Smith in Bassett. She attended Park Center School.

She married Edward B. Crosby on Feb. 25, 1932, at Greeley. They farmed near the Spalding area until 1949 when they moved to Spalding, where Mrs. Crosby raised her family. She entered the Friendship Villa on Oct. 29, 1996.

Mrs. Crosby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included word puzzles, collecting dolls, reading, crafts and sewing.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Scott of Osceola and Janice Hinze of Woodbine, Iowa; a son, Ron of Harvard; a sister, Wilma Crosby of Spalding; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Shirley Crosby; and two sisters, Beryl Tierney and Jessie Bopp.

Ruth Hurlbert

ORD -- Ruth Hurlbert, 70, of Ord died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

Services are pending at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

Verla Wieser

COLUMBUS -- Verla A. Wieser, 74, of Columbus died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, at the Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph A. Miksch will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Isidore Church with a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

McKown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wieser was born icon May 13, 1925, to William and Rose (Klein) Allen at Wolbach. She was raised in Wolbach and attended schools there.

She married Eugene Wieser on Jan. 11, 1949, at St. Mary's of the Angels in Humphrey. She worked at Dale Electronics for 11 years. She owned and operated Columbus Door and Window with her husband.

She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion.

Survivors include a sister, Effie Janc of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Arnold Allen and Clarence Allen.

Delores Dulitz

GREELEY -- Delores LeeAnn Dulitz, 55, of Greeley died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Greeley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Cynthia Altstadt will officiate. Burial will be in the Greeley City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. T. J. Finn and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Greeley Rescue Unit or the American Cancer Society.

Gerhardt Griess

AURORA -- Gerhardt "Gary" Griess, 72, of Aurora died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian U.C.C. Church in Aurora. The Rev. Paul Nauman will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Higby Mortuary.

Mr. Griess was born icon Oct. 1, 1927, at Stockham to August and Johanna (Schwarz) Griess. He grew up in the Stockham and Sutton areas, and attended high school in Stockham.

He married Bernice Sweem on Dec. 9, 1948, in Geneva. They farmed for three years, and then Mr. Griess was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served from 1952 to 1954. He served in the Korean War in Japan.

He later returned to the United States and worked for Wortman Motor Company and Aurora Co-op. In 1958, the family moved to a farm south of town. He retired from farming in 1989.

Mr. Griess was a member of Presbyterian U.C.C., the V.F.W. and the Legion, where he served on the maintenance board.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Aurora; a brother, Arthur M. Griess of San Bernadino, Calif.; two sisters, Louise Sloan of Denver, Colo. and Leontina Clancy of Hastings.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lasetta Stovall.
