Kenneth Broad, 78

(Jan. 29) BAYARD - Kenneth William Broad, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at his home with his family present. He was born Dec. 23, 1925, at Alliance, to William and Hermina (Krohn) Broad. He grew up at Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School.

Mr. Broad's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Faith Lutheran Church, Gering, with Revs. Richard Neugebauer and Ralph Morris officiating. Interment will be in West lawn Cemetery at Gering, with Military Honors by Admiral Dewey VFW Post 1681. Memorials may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice or the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Jolliffe Funeral Home, Scottsbluff. Condolences may be emailed to sympathy@jolliffefuneralhome.com. Jolliffe Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.

Ruby G. Soester, 88

(Jan. 30) CRAWFORD - Ruby Gladys Soester, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Ponderosa Villa, following a debilitating stroke on Dec. 25, 2003. She was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Sioux County, the sixth child fo Peter P. and Laura May (Shipley) Randall.

A memorial has been established to the Crawford Rescue Unit or Ponderosa Villa Auxiliary. Mrs. Soester's funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Crawford, with burial in the Crawford City Cemetery.

Lorretta Roberts, 75

(March 29) ALLIANCE - Lorretta Roberts, 75, of died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. She was born Jan. 28, 1929 in St. Francis, Minn., to Jens and Mabel (Andersen) Christensen.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Bates-Gould Chapel, with Rev. Ed Hunzeker officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 1, at the Bethel Welsh Cemetery at Wymore. Memorials may be given to the Alliance Central Park Fountain Fund. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Darlene M. Case, 77

(March 29) ALLIANCE - Darlene M. Case, 77, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Highland Park Care Center. She was born Dec. 16, 1926, at Ardmore, S.D., to Martin and Marie (Meyers) Paulsen. She was married to Leo Case on Oct. 1, 1951, at Hot Springs, S.D.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Bates-Gould Chapel, with Rev. Bill Buschbaum officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice, or the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #7. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Grace Mote, 94

(March 26) ALLIANCE - Grace Mote, 94, died Wednesday, March 25, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. She was born Nov. 5, 1909, at Fairbury, to Joseph and Clara (King) Greenwood. Her family moved to a farm in Scotts Bluff County when she was an infant and she spent her childhood there.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 29, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, with Fr. Paul Mottl officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 28. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew's Church or to Sandhills Assisted Living at Alliance. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Flood, 69

(June 1) ALLIANCE - Edward Joseph Flood, 69, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Rapid City, S.D. He was born Oct. 9, 1934, at Rosebud, S.D., to Dennis and Irene (Greve) Flood. He married Pauline DuBray on June 29, 1993, at Alliance.

Mr. Flood's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the Church of God, with Rev. Don Mink officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Wake services will be on Wednesday, June 2, at Allen, and Thursday, June 3, at Alliance. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Neva J. Jensen, 75

(May 29) ALLIANCE - Neva J. Jensen, 75, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. She was born Aug. 4, 1928, at Minatare, to William and Bessie (Underwood) Sherlock. On June 27, 1955, she was married to Harry L. Jensen at Alliance. Neva graduated from St. Agnes Academy. She then graduated from Chadron State College receiving her teaching certificate.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1 at Holy Rosary Church. Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Church Renovation Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy I. Yoakum, 91

(May 26) HEMINGFORD - Dorothy I. Yoakum, 91, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Hemingford Community Care Center. She was born at Brush, Colo., on Oct. 16, 1912, to Ed E. and Frances Leiter. They moved to Alliance in 1920.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Congregational Church-United Church of Christ, with Rev. Jim West officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Florice I. Gerber, 76

(June 21) CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Florice I. Gerber, 76, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at the Lifecare Center at Cheyenne. She was born April 25, 1928, at Moorcroft, Wyo. She was married to Roy L. Gerber on May 3, 1946, at Rapid City, S.D.

Mrs. Gerber's memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Schrader Chapel, 2323 Carey Ave., Cheyenne, with Pastor Wayne Nazarenas officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association. Schrader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lyle P. Minich, 88

(June 21) HEMINGFORD - Lyle P. Minich, 88, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the Minichville Farm near Hemingford. He was born July 11, 1915 at Friend, to Charles and Edith (Smith) Minich. He was the oldest of 6 children.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the Congregational Church at Hemingford, with Pastor Jim West officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery with military rites. Memorials are suggested to Prairie Haven Hospice and the Congregational Church. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Clara Prososki, 96

(June 21) FULLERTON - Clara Prososki, 96, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Beverly Health Care Center at Fullerton. Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Paula Egnoske, formerly of Alliance, of 902 East Sunset, Grand Island, NE 68801.

Opal N. Speak, 90

(June 21) GRAND ISLAND - Opal N. Speak, 90, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center at Grand Island. She was born May 29, 1914, at Brewster, to Shelby and Nettie Ann (Waddington) Cooper. She attended grade school at Brewster.

Funeral Home at Grand Island, with Rev. Lonnie Logan and Rev. Del Roper officiating. Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island. A memorial has been established to Trinity United Methodist Church at Grand Island. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Fred Thompson, 66

(June 21) HEMINGFORD - John Fred Thompson, 66, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Hemingford Community Care Center.
