George Schwindt

Former Clay Center resident George Schwindt, 81, of Grand Island died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Clay Center with the Rev. Stan Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Clay Center Cemetery with military rites conducted by Mills-Schroder American Legion Post No. 87 of Clay Center.
Mr. Schwindt was born March 26, 1918, to Fred and Margretha (Aschenbrenner) Schwindt. He attended West Lynn Country School. He then farmed and worked as a heavy truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he worked as a salesman for Watkins Products. He has been a resident at the Veteran's Home in Grand Island for the last 20 years.
Surviving is one brother, John of Harvard.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Lois M. Larsen

Former Tribland area resident Lois Mary (Mitchell) Larsen, 81, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at her home.
Services were Nov. 5 at Bohlender Funeral Home chapel in Fort Collins. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
Mrs. Larsen was born Dec. 1, 1917, to James A. and Clara (Goldenstein) Mitchell in Glenvil. On Sept. 16, 1937, she married Roy H. Larsen in Eldora, Iowa. She moved from Loveland, Colo., to Fort Collins in 1961. She managed the hot lunch program at Poudre High School in Colorado. On May 1, 1981, her husband died.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Longmont, Colo.
Survivors are one son, James of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Yvonne Swartz of Fort Collins and Annette Parker of Lafayette, Colo.; four sisters, Clara Delight English, Rosalie Paul and Marjorie Shepard, all of Lincoln, and Geraldine Hodge of Kearney; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Home.
Lillian G. Kohmetscher

Lillian Grace Kohmetscher, infant daughter of Marc and Beth Kohmetscher of Hastings, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Private family services are Wednesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Randy Madison officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today with family present from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lillian was born Dec. 16, 1999.
Survivors are her parents; one brother, Nolan of Hastings; her grandparents, Frank and Kathy Hill and Ed and Marla Kohmetscher, all of Hastings; and her great-grandparents, Paul Reindl of Kimball, S.D., Kenneth and Phyllis Troyer of Milford and Bill and Lois Kohmetscher of Hastings.
Memorials may be given to the family.
Allen C. Fry

Hastings resident Allen C. Fry, 74, of 1238 N. St. Joseph Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion in Hastings.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial with military rites will be 1 p.m. Monday at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
Mr. Fry was born Aug. 26, 1925, to A.C. and Lenora (Gaston) Fry in Hubbell. He earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Doane College in Crete. From 1944-45 he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. On Aug. 31, 1947, he married Norma L. Templin in Hebron. He retired from T&L Irrigation in 1987.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and American Legion Post No. 317 in Hubbell. He also was a member and past grand officer of United Commercial Travelers and member and past district governor of Hastings Evening Lion's Club.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Terri Rosenthal of Wilmette, Ill., Jan Motley of Hastings and Candi Miller of Lincoln; one son, Doug of Gillette, Wyo.; one brother, Robert of Holdrege; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Allen Fry Memorial Fund.

Services for former Minden resident Mark D. Augustin, 28, of Henderson, Nev., who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at his home are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell with the Rev. Helmut Yurk officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Freeland-Layton Funeral Home of Axtell is in charge of arrangements.

Lincoln resident Stanley E. Rasmussen, 64, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, in Lincoln.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln with the Rev. Roger L. Casteel officiating. Burial will be in the Bennet Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife; three sons; four daughters; one sister; three brothers, including Donald of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Melvin G. Heath

Former Tribland area resident Melvin G. Heath, 68, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery at Ayr. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to noon Friday with family present from 10 a.m. to noon at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Mr. Heath was born Dec. 6, 1930, to Mahlon and Thelma (McCoy) Heath in Lake City, Iowa. He moved with his family to Hastings in 1943. He attended Hastings Senior High School and was a member of the National Guard. On June 27, 1954, he married Iona Alber in Blue Hill. They lived in Blue Hill, Hastings and Ayr. He retired in 1993 from Hastings Industries. He and his wife moved from Ayr to Lincoln Oct. 31.
He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Eagles and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Greg and Mike, both of Lincoln; one daughter, Terri Samson of Grand Island; two sisters, Velma Ground of Grand Island and Dorothy Deschane of Kearney; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.
Milo J. Way

Superior resident Milo J. Way, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Superior.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior with the Rev. Paul Albrecht officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Superior. Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Way was born Sept. 25, 1915, to Jesse and Maggie (Wagner) Way near Beloit, Kan. He grew up and attended school in Beloit. He farmed for a short while near Beloit before moving into town where he worked for a plumbing firm. He then worked for the gas company in Beloit. In 1937 he married Mabel West in Beloit. They divorced. In 1954 he moved to Superior where he worked for the gas company. On May 25, 1963, he married Edna Ritterbush in Superior. She died in January 1974. He retired in 1976.
He was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church.
Survivors are one son, Dennis Way of Superior; one stepson, Harold Ritterbush of Demopolis, Ala.; one daughter, Darla Brungardt of Byron; three stepdaughters, Carol Reitz of Lincoln, Eleanor Harling of Fairbury and Sharon Combs of Superior; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, James; and two brothers.
Mary T. Kimminau

Former Roseland resident Mary T. (Loskill) Kimminau, 73, of Washington, Ind., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Ind.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Simons Church in Washington, Ind., with the Rev. David Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Washington, Ind. There is no visitation. Ed Lee Mortuary of Washington, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kimminau was born Oct. 26, 1926, to George and Eva (Hemberger) Loskill in Roseland. She attended Assumption School. On Nov. 10, 1953, she married Edward Kimminau. She moved to Indiana in 1966.
She was a member of St. Simon's Church.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Anita Melton of Loogootee, Ind.; one son, Alvin of Washington, Ind.; six sisters, Catherine Parr of Roseland, Florence Pantenburg of Heartwell, Agnes Kolbet and Dorothy Theisen, both of Hastings, Carol Ann Smith of Grand Island and Alice Trausch of Juniata; two brothers, Robert and Richard, both of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Hans H. Prien

Minden resident Hans H. Prien, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery with military rites provided by the Minden American Legion Post No. 94. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Friday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Prien was born July 26, 1929, to Henry and Mary (Rohlfs) Prien in Mineola, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Mineola. On June 30, 1951, he married Wanda Radford. From 1951-53 he served in the military during the Korean War. In 1953 he and his wife moved to Omaha where he worked for the Malady Brothers Commission Firm as a cattle buyer. In 1965 they moved to Minden. He worked for Minden Beef and later for Producers Livestock of Omaha as a cattle buyer until his death.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Heartwell VFW, Minden American Legion Post No. 94, Kearney Elks and the 40 & 8 Club.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Michele Garcia of Altus, Okla.; one son, Greg of Columbus; one brother, Art of Glenwood, Iowa; two sisters, Sophie Jensen of Columbia, Mo., and Doris Kusch of Omaha; and four grandchildren.

Wake services are 7 p.m. Saturday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Lincoln with the Rev. Charles Torpey officiating. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with the Rev. Jim Golka officiating. Burial will be at the Minden Cemetery.
Earl C. Harper

Former Hastings resident Earl C. Harper, 76, of Manitou Springs, Colo., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Services were Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Manitou Springs. Burial was at Crystal Valley Cemetery in Manitou Springs. Swan-Law Funeral Home of Colorado Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harper was born Nov. 10, 1923, to Jackson and Lillian (Robinson) Harper in Rockymount, N.C. On Sept. 20, 1944, he married LaVon Dreher. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with Bomb Group No. 505 during World War II. He was a former police chief for Manitou Springs. He was also a retired teamster with Rocky Mountain Paving Co. and Schmidt Construction in Manitou Springs.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Dennis and Randy; one daughter, Joy Harper; two sisters, Verona Newell and Lucille Edmundson; one brother, Eddie; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
