Omaha resident Iden Isaac Koons, 76, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Omaha.
Wake service is 7 p.m. Thursday and services are 11 a.m. Friday at Mary Our Queen Church in Omaha. Burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrews Cemetery at Tecumseh. Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Funeral Home of Omaha is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Koons was a sales manager for Metz Baking Co. in the Hastings area.
Leah L. Lomax

Wilsonville resident Leah L. (Ruf) Lomax, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Wilsonville Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Wilsonville Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
Survivors are two daughters; five sons, including Joe of Hastings; two brothers; seven sisters; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Carl E.H. Plock
Monday, Nov. 1, 1999
Fairmont resident Carl E.H. Plock, 84, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Geneva.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Fairmont Community Church with the Rev. Betsy Galloway Carew officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont Public Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Thursday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Plock was born Aug. 13, 1915, to William and Elizabeth (Fricke) Plock in Fairmont.
Survivors are his wife, Wilma; three sons, William of Hastings, Glen of York and Larry of Deshler; three daughters, Carolyn Switzer of Nehawka, Doris Schubert of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Joann Moler-Robbins of Lincoln; one brother, Rex of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the church or Fairmont Rescue Unit.
Robert J. Weber

Hastings native Robert James "Bobby" Weber, 30, of Holiday Island, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Springdale, Ark.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Parish Center in Eureka Springs, Ark. Burial will be in the Eureka Springs Cemetery. Nelson's Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Weber was born Feb. 8, 1969, to Dr. Clarence R. and Delores A. (Homan) Weber in Hastings. In 1987 he graduated from Mur Hill Prep School in Atchinson, Kan. He also graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy in 1995. He had worked for 10 years at the Eureka Springs Police Department. He was a member of the Carroll County Search and Rescue Team and a volunteer for the Holiday Island Fire Department. He also was a former member of the Eureka Springs Fire Department.
He was a member of the Basin Springs Masonic Lodge No. 386 in Arkansas.
Survivors are his mother of Holiday Island; one brother, David of Pickerton, Ohio; and two sisters, Ann Sieg of Holiday Island and Mary Norman of West Fork, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Vera M. Johnston

Former Hastings resident Vera M. (Anderson) Johnston, 72, of Grand Island, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center in Grand Island.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Dennis Reich officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mrs. Johnston was born Dec. 24, 1926, to James and Etta (Pickering) Anderson in Holbrook. She graduated from Cambridge High School. She then moved to Hastings where she worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and at a bakery. On Jan. 30, 1954, she married William J. Johnston in Axtell. They lived in Hastings and they worked at Kerrco Manufacturing Co. They moved to Grand Island in 1964. She worked at J.C. Penney's for 16 years as a clerk and then as a teller at Overland National Bank. She retired in 1988.
She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Carole Speer of Grand Island and Debra Loewenstein of Windsor, Colo.; one sister, Doris Kroger of Hastings; one brother, Raymond of Clay Center; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the church or the St. Francis Hospice program.
Vern D. Willard

Former Hebron resident Vern D. Willard, 78, of Newton, Kan., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in Wichita, Kan.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Price Funeral Home chapel in Hebron with the Rev. Walter Theissen officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Willard was born July 10, 1921, to Manfred "Jim" and Amelia (Krisement) Willard in Alexandria. He graduated in 1939 from Alexandria High School. From 1943-46, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 146th Army Air Ways Communications Systems Squadron and as a cryptographic technician. He was stationed at Hickam Field, Hawaii, Majuru and the Marshall Islands. After his discharge, he worked for several years in the Thayer County maintenance department. On May 21, 1977, he married Helen Neemann in Milford. They moved to Florence, Kan., where they purchased the Holiday Motel. In 1981 they moved to Newton.
Survivors are his wife; one stepdaughter, Joan Storey of Lincoln; one stepson, Gary of Omaha; two brothers, Alton of Las Vegas and Joe of Springfield, Ore.; one sister, Ruby Gillaspie of Salem, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the family or the American Red Cross.
Cora M. Horacek

Former Fairfield resident Cora M. (Townsend) Horacek, 93, of Seneca, Kan., died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, in Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation is at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Mrs. Horacek was born Nov. 23, 1906, to Hirman and Charlotte (Gillispe) Townsend in Fargo. She attended Fairfield schools. On June 12, 1922, she married William Joseph "Joe" Horacek in Hastings. They lived in Chambers and Clay Center before moving to a farm near Fairfield. In 1927 she went to work as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell in Baileyville, Kan. In 1954 she and her husband moved to Seneca where she worked for Southwestern Bell. On Nov. 29, 1954, her husband died. After 30 years of employment, she retired from Southwestern Bell. She then owned and operated Stan's Snack Shop in Seneca for four years. She also worked part time in the obstetrics department at the Seneca Hospital for two years. In 1962 she moved to Baldwin, Kan., where she was a house mother for Baker University. In 1964 she worked as a clerk at Strathman's Department Store in Seneca for 11 years. She retired in 1975.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Business and Professional Women's Club and past president of the Seneca Garden Club. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors are one son, Stanley of Kansas City, Mo., and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in Seneca.
Jessie M. Burg

Campbell resident Jessie M. (Patton) Burg, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Campbell with the Rev. Mark Diehl officiating. Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery in Campbell. Campbell Funeral Home of Campbell is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burg was born Sept. 17, 1912, to John Albert and Elsie May (James) Patton near Riverton. She attended School District 61 and graduated from Franklin High School. She taught at Crystal Springs School for one year, School District 20 Spring Valley for three years and one year at School District 69. She attended Kearney State College. On April 21, 1934, she married Maddie A. Burg in Smith Center, Kan. In 1956 they bought Burg's Market in Campbell and were in business for 13 years. On Feb. 23, 1992, her husband died.
She was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women. She also was a member of the Birthday Club.
Survivors are three sisters, Marjorie Bergman of Riverton, Nellie Meyer of Franklin and Virginia Laux of Upland.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Evelyn S. Christianson

Hastings resident Evelyn S. (Heizer) Meyerhoeffer Christianson, 96, of Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Villa Grace.
Services were to be 10:30 a.m. today at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial was in the Holbrook Cemetery.
Mrs. Christianson was born March 11, 1903, to Ed and Lillie (Hutchcroft) Heizer in Gosper County. On Dec. 4, 1921, she married Thomas Meyerhoeffer. He preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1924. She worked at the G.W. Shafer's General Store in Hendley from 1928-40. On Jan. 10, 1937, she married Alfred E. Christianson. In 1943 they moved to Hastings where she worked for the Naval Ammunitions Depot and the Hastings Regional Center.
She attended the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are one son, Jack Meyerhoeffer of Hastings; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church.
Hazel Decker

Hastings resident Hazel (Adcock) Decker, 99, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings with the Rev. Judith E. Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Decker was born Jan. 13, 1900, to Newton and Minnie (Bradfield) Adcock in Sioux City, Iowa. She moved with her family to Nebraska and attended school in Auburn. In 1919 she moved to Hastings. On April 19, 1919, she married William R. Decker in Hastings. She was co-owner of Decker and Sons Paint Store in Hastings. In 1982, her husband died.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter No. 39 of Hastings. She also had been a member of the Parent Teacher's Association, Women's Relief Corp, Navy Mother's Club and Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors are two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bill; one sister; and three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
Carl I. Jorgensen

Edgar resident Carl I. Jorgensen, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Integrated Health Services in Edgar.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home chapel in Edgar with the Rev. Harold Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.
Mr. Jorgensen was born Oct. 1, 1914, to Christian and Emma Caroline Jorgensen in Duluth, Minn. He attended rural school at Oak. While in high school, he worked as a farm hand during the summer in Iowa, Minnesota and Idaho. He graduated from Davenport High School. On June 29, 1943, he married Florence Judy in Salina, Kan. He farmed most of his life in the Edgar area.
He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Edgar and the church board. He also had served on the school board.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Judy Miller of Camdenton, Mo., Patria Wilkinson of Topeka, Kan., Karen Rogers of Bushong, Kan., and Connie Englund of Holdrege; one son, David of Kearney; one sister, Elsie Mueller of Deshler; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Ford F. Wylie

Harvard resident Ford F. Wylie, 88, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at Harvard Rest Haven.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harvard Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home in Harvard.
Mr. Wylie was born Sept. 20, 1911, to Benjamin and Minnie Helen (Stevens) Wylie in Minden. On Jan. 19, 1948, he married Audrey Sealock. He worked at the Naval Ammunitions Depot and then at the Hastings Regional Center for 30 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Dorothy Naxera of Channahon, Ill.; one son, Allan Wylie of Elwood; one stepson, Bill O'Donnell of Harvard; one sister, Vergene McNeil of Richmond, Calif.; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
