STERLING, Colo. - Margaret Irene (Heitz) Maxwell, 99, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005.
She graduated from Alliance High School in 1924.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, aat St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Fr. Roger Appuhamy officiating.
Memorials have been established to St. Altar and Rosary Society or Hillcrest Care Center Nursing Staff at Wray, Colo.

Joe Schommer, 75
CHADRON - Joe Junior Schommer, 75, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Joe was born April 20, 1930, at Chadron, the youngest of eleven children born to Joe and Cecelia (Arendt) Schommer.
At the age of 14 both of his parents had passed away, and he started earning his living working on ranches until he finally put together a ranch of his own at Chadron.
In 1950 he married Mary Lou Manchester at Chadron. They lived on their ranch on White River northwest of Chadron until retiring at Chadron in 1991.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Fr. Ed Courtney officiating.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the church.
Memorials have been established for Hospice and St. Jude's in care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337-0970.

Josephine Thomsen, 100
OELRICHS, S.D. - Josephine Cynthia Thomsen, 100, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at her home.
She was born Aug. 3, 1905, at Monon, Ind,, to Christian and Loretta (Wynekoop) Felz.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Chamberlain Chapel, with Pastor Seth Leypoldt officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the Oelrichs Volunteer Fire Department or EMT in care of First National Bank of Chadron.

Else Abbott, 75
ALLIANCE - Else Abbott, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 9, at her home.
Else Windfeld Madsen was born Aug. 9, 1930, at Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Axel and Anna Madsen.
She was married to William George Abbott on March 23, 1955, at Denver, Colo. They divorced in 1988.
Else completed her baccalaureate and master's degrees in Journalism and Education at Denver University and then worked at Colorado Academy for over 20 years as a teacher. She also developed their cutting edge computer lab. She moved to Alliance in January 2005.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at the Evangelical Free Church, 611 Cody Ave.
A memorial has been established to the National Pancreas Foundation, P.O. Box 15333, Boston, MA 02215-0333.

Joan J. Clarke, 71
CHADRON - Joan Joyce Clarke, 71, died of cancer Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at her home, with her family at her side.
Jo was born July 24, 1934, at Ainsworth, to Robert and Margaret Sielaff. On May 2, 1952, she was married to A.C. Clarke.
They lived at Long Pine for nine years and started their family. They moved to Valentine where she worked as the Omaha World-Herald distributor.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the United Methodist Church at Chadron, with Pastor Seth Leypoldt officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society in care of First National Bank of Chadron.

Bill B. Coffee, 83
HARRISON - Bill Brown Coffee, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at his home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1922, at Chadron, to John Toney and Hazel (Berry) Coffee.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the United Methodist Church at Harrison, with Pastor Babe Richardson officiating.
Burial will be at the Harrison Cemetery. Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline M. LaClair, 91
ALLIANCE - Pauline M. LaClair, 91, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
She was born July 4, 1914, at Alliance, to Lorando D. and Minnie (Berry) Blair.
On Dec. 8, 1935, she was married to Edwin LaClair. Pauline worked for many years at the Montgomery Ward and Murphy's Stores at Alliance.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 7.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Norma Jensen officiating.
Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or to Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

Virginia P. Janulewicz, 93
ALLIANCE - Virginia Pearl Janulewicz, 93, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 at her home.
She was born April 16, 1912, at Orleans, to Charles W. and Anna P. (Beers) Foster.
On July 8, 1946, she was married to Leonard Janulewicz at Red Lodge, Mont.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Oregon Trail Cemetery at Bridgeport, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Roosa officiating.
Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice at, 2409 Box Butte Avenue, Alliance, NE 69301.

Andrea Louden, 103
ELLSWORTH - Andrea Louden, 103, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at The Village at Regional West in Scottsbluff.
Andrea was born June 29, 1902, in the village of St. Martin near Reims, France to Ludovicus "Louis" and Maria (LaFranc) Kicken. She was the fifth of six children.
Andrea immigrated to America with her family in May of 1910 and arrived through Ellis Island.
On Dec. 10, 1920, she was married to John W. Louden of Ellsworth at Alliance. To this union, four children were born, Hannah, Vitalene, Neoma and LeRoy.
In 1940, they moved four miles west of Ellsworth to her present home. John carried mail and Andrea tended the cattle and raised chickens and flocks of turkeys. She learned to cable hay with a team of horses to make feeding the cattle easier than "pitching the hay both ways"
After John's death in 1958, Andrea carried the mail for another eight years. Andrea was an adept teamster with horses and enjoyed working with livestock. She was a good judge of cattle and continued to have an interest in the ranch. She was known for her gardens, cooking and quick sense of humor.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Rainbow Extension Club and the Highland Bowling Club.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Alliance, with Fr. Jim Heithoff and F.r Gerald Harr officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
A wake service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Bates-Gould Chapel.
The family prefers memorials be given to Calvary Cemetery, High Plains Veterans Cemetery or to a charity of the donor's choice.
