Hastings resident Fayette "Faye" (Bunde) Shada, 51, of 314 E. 12th St., died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Paul Hirsch officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9-11 a.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Mrs. Shada was born Aug. 3, 1948, to Emil and Evelyn (Black) Bunde. She graduated in 1966 from Hastings Senior High School. On Aug. 28, 1966, she married Michael A. Shada. She was a clerk for the state of Nebraska Driver's Examining Bureau.
She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Michelle Kirkbride of Juniata; her mother of Hastings; one sister, Sheryl Weber of Hastings; and two brothers, Ronald of Lincoln and Lonnie of Papillion.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Wendy, and her father.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Hebron and Beatrice resident Gary L. Boatman, 57, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in Omaha.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron with the Revs. Warren Schoming and George Matthews officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron City Cemetery. The remains were cremated. There will be no visitation. Price Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boatman was born Nov. 24, 1941, to Virgil and Ruth (Harms) Boatman in Deshler. He had served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an antique dealer.
Survivors are two daughters, Darla Boatman of Lincoln and Alisa Sloan of Cleo, Mich.; three sons, Darin Boatman and David Echols, both of Hastings, and Wade Echols of Hebron; his parents of Hebron; two sisters, Margaret Hyman and Janice Fentress, both of Beatrice; and two brothers, John of Beatrice and Richard of Hebron.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice in care of Darla Boatman, 2830 Jameson North, Apt. No. 8, Lincoln, NE 68516.
Elsie Hafermann

Hebron resident Elsie (Kassebaum) Hafermann, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Hebron.
Services were to be 2 p.m. today at Blue Valley Nursing Home chapel in Hebron with the Rev. Michael Osberg officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln. Price Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hafermann was born Oct. 18, 1907, to William and Anna Kassebaum in Byron. She married Oltman Hafermann. He preceded her in death. She worked at Nebraska State Farmer.
She was a founding member of Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Survivors are two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elsie Ann Bechtolt; and six brothers.
Memorials have been established to the family's choice.

Gordon resident James Evans, 75, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Fort Meade Veterans of America Medical Center in Sturgis, S.D.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Gordon with the Rev. Nita Gelling Cloran officiating. Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery. Chamberlain-Gates Mortuary of Gordon is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, including Evelyn Chingren of Hastings; one brother; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.
Evelyn I. Ahrens

Former Minden resident Evelyn I. (Hansen) Ahrens, 88, of Kearney, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Private graveside services will be Friday at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Ahrens was born Sept. 19, 1911, to Claus and Tena (Johnson) Hansen in Minden. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1929. On May 25, 1930, she married William Ahrens. They lived in Minden where she worked at the post office during World War II.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge of Minden.
Survivors are her husband; one son, William of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; one brother; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Minden United Methodist Church.
Wylma K. Buckner

Former Hastings resident Wylma Kathryn (Halloran) Buckner, 83, of Vista, Calif., died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Life Care Center in Vista.
Memorial services were Jan. 13 at Allen Brothers Mortuary in Vista.
Mrs. Buckner was born March 1, 1916, to Michael and Mary Halloran in Hastings. She attended Hastings Senior High School and graduated from Hastings College. She married Charles L. Buckner. She taught school before moving to California. She lived in Vista and Oceanside, Calif., for 48 years. She was a civil service supply researcher for 25 years and retired in 1980. Her husband died in 1986.
Survivors are one daughter, Jenny Sue Horwedel of Vista; and four grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Charles L. Jr. and James M.

Carl T. Curtis

Former Minden area resident Sen. Carl T. Curtis, 94, of Lincoln, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minden and memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Drs. Andrew McDonald and Don McCall will officiate. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Roper & Sons Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Minden church.
Mr. Curtis was born March 15, 1905, to Frank O. and Alberta Mae (Smith) Curtis in Kearney County. He attended Minden High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. He married Lois Wylie Atwater. He served as Kearney County attorney from 1931-35. In 1938 he was named to the U.S. House of Representatives and served 16 years. He was elected in 1954 to the U.S. Senate and served 24 years. In 1970 his wife died. On Dec. 1, 1972, he married Mildred Genier Baker. After leaving Washington, D.C., they lived in Lincoln.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, I.O.O.F., Elks Club, Theta Chi, Pi Kappa Delta Forensic Fraternity and Lincoln Downtown Rotary Club 14. He was a member of the Masonic Lodges and was a 33rd Degree Mason. He also was an honorary member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Carl Thomas Curtis Jr. of Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Claramae Hopkins; five sisters; and two brothers.
Memorials may be given to the People's City Mission, Lancaster County Red Cross or the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Vivian Rose

Red Cloud resident Vivian (Copley) Rose, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Simonson-Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Michael Lehr officiating. Burial will be in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
Mrs. Rose was born Jan. 27, 1918, to Floyd and Clara (Lovejoy) Copley near Inavale. She attended District No. 41 School and Inavale High School and graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1936. She worked for the Nebraska State Journal in Lincoln. She also worked various jobs in Powell Butte, Ore., and Denver. On Jan. 27, 1943, she married Leo Rose in Hastings. They farmed near Bladen until 1965, when they moved to Hastings. In 1975 they moved to Red Cloud.
She was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Red Cloud.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Karen Thurlow of Cedar Bluffs; two sons, Gary of Hastings and Alan of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Mildred Copley of Carson City, Nev., Agnes Alverson of Longmont, Colo., and Ruth Kolstad of Hillsboro, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
A memorial fund has been established.
Lois G. Viehdorfer

Nelson resident Lois G. (Sykes) Viehdorfer, 77, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services were to be 10 a.m. today at Klawitter-Price Funeral Home chapel in Nelson with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Burial was to be in Spring Creek Cemetery in Ruskin.
Mrs. Viehdorfer was born July 24, 1922, to Alva R. and Dorothy Carolina (Anderson) Sykes near Oak. She attended Ruskin Grade School and graduated from Nelson High School. She married Melvin Morrison. He died in 1963. She then married Richard Viehdorfer. She worked as the director of settlement and adjustments for the U.S. Air Force Department of Defense for several years. She lived in Ruskin, Oak, Topeka, Kan., and Thornton, Colo.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Thornton, Order of the Eastern Star in Nelson and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors are two sons, Gary of Denver and Leonard of San Diego; her mother, Dorothy Adelman of Nelson; one half brother, Carl R. Sykes of Benson, Ariz.; two half sisters, Merle Balk of Manning, Iowa, and Cynthia Smetter of Lincoln; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by her father; her stepfather, Lyle Adelman; and one half brother.

Juniata resident Donald W. "Don" Nienhueser, 80, died today at Kenesaw Haven Home.

Larry D. Davidson

Hebron resident Larry D. Davidson, 61, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron with the Rev. Bruce Berggren officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Hebron City Cemetery. The remains will be cremated. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davidson was born Dec. 17, 1938, to Lloyd and Ellen (Abelbeck) Davidson in Byron. He graduated from Deshler High School. On March 11, 1960, he married Nancy K. Corliss in Belleville, Kan. He farmed and raised cattle. In 1980 he and his wife started their business, Davidson's Lawn Care and Landscaping.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Nurseryman's Association.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Dee Schumacher of Prescott, Ariz., Debra Yoachim of Hebron, Denise Skrobecki of Hastings and Dayle Vanderwerff of Pensacola, Fla.; his step mother, Wilma A. Davidson of Hebron; one sister, Jerilyn Cortesi of Seattle; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his father.
A memorial has been established.
