Charles E. 'Charlie' Behring

Hebron resident Charles E. "Charlie" Behring, 57, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron with the Rev. Bruce Berggren officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron City Cemetery. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Behring was born Aug. 23, 1942, to Ernest and Vera (Kreimeyer) Behring in Hebron. He graduated from Deshler High School in 1960. He then helped his father in the family clothing store in Deshler and sold insurance. On May 29, 1963, he married Constance K. "Connie" Ahlman in Hebron. He worked at the Hebron Hatchery in Hebron. He then owned and managed the Hebron Sport Shack in Hebron for the last 21 years.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, the National Trappers Association and the Nebraska Trappers Association.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Nicholas of Wilber; one daughter, Kristine Wiedel of Hebron; one sister, Rita Adcock of Hays, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established.
Gladys M. Hester

Harvard resident Gladys M. (Gilmore) Hester, 79, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at the Harvard Rest Haven.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Harvard with the Rev. Marvin Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home in Harvard and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Hester was born Nov. 29, 1920, to Paul and Bessie (Pruitt) Gilmore in Eureka Springs, Ark. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1939. On Feb. 25, 1940, she married Harold E. Becker. In 1968 she married Floyd Hester and moved to Arkansas where she worked at Gravette Medical Center in Gravette, Ark. Her husband died in February 1989. She returned to Nebraska in 1990.
Survivors are one daughter, Barbara Rhodes of Utica; three sons, Glen Becker of Harvard, Don Becker of Lincoln and Jerry Becker of Kearney; one sister, Dorothy Klein of Sutton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the Harvard Rest Haven.
Myrle W. Kugler

Red Cloud resident Myrle W. (Moore) Kugler, 94, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Riverton with the Rev. Frank Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Thornburg Cemetery in Smith County, Kan. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kugler was born Oct. 30, 1905, to Sam and Maud (Campbell) Moore in Smith County, Kan. She attended Pleasant Ridge rural school district No. 123 in Kansas. On April 26, 1926, she married Milo Kugler in Red Cloud. They farmed in Franklin County until retiring in 1982 and moving to Red Cloud. On March 10, 1984, her husband died.
Survivors are one daughter, Marie Kugler of Red Cloud; one son, Donald of Red Cloud; and one sister, Ruth Johnson of Fairbury.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Opal I. Kullberg

Hastings resident Opal I. (Nixon) Kullberg, 87, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Perkins Pavilion.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Visitation is 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Mrs. Kullberg was born Jan. 5, 1913, to John and LaVerne (Krell) Nixon in Fairfield. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1930 and attended Hastings Business College in 1932. On June 4, 1938, she married Obed Kullberg in Omaha. She began working in 1936 at a recruiting office in Des Moines, Iowa. She and her husband moved to Hastings in 1942. She worked at the A&W Root Beer Shop in Hastings during the 1950s. On May 13, 1999, her husband died.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Mary Lanning Hospital Auxiliary, YWCA of Adams County, RSVP, Alpha Beta and the Pink Lady volunteers at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Survivors are two sons, James of Overland Park, Kan., and Richard of Hastings; two sisters, Betty Kent of Hastings and Laura Ward of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; one sister; and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.

Minden resident Frank K. White, 71, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his home.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Private family burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. The remains were cremated. Layton Funeral Home of Minden is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. White was born Feb. 19, 1929, to Robert and Fannie (Monk) White in Minden.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Mary Lanning Hospice and the Home Away From Home in Hastings or to the church.
Rex L. McLaughlin

Kenesaw resident Rex L. McLaughlin, 82, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at the Kenesaw Haven Home.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings with the Rev. Harold Stromer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. McLaughlin was born Aug. 26, 1917, to Roy E. and Florence B. (Tucker) McLaughlin in Burchard. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad early in life. He married Lorene E. Avers. He then worked numerous jobs until moving to Hastings in 1950. There he worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and Pedersen's Mobil for many years. He retired from Hastings Irrigation. His wife preceded him in death.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Survivors are one daughter, Kathy Stromer of Hastings; one sister, Verna Heinrichs of Davenport; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw Haven Home.

York resident Nellie I. (Alecock) Steven, 95, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in York.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Rev. Harry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation began 1 p.m. today at Metz Mortuary in York.
Survivors are one son; one daughter, Jane Cronin of Hastings; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Nelson resident Pat (Lamb) Lanham, 71, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Nelson.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Nora Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Backus officiating. Burial will be in the Nora Cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Klawitter-Price Funeral Home in Nelson.
Mrs. Lanham was born March 17, 1928, to Clifford F. and Mattie "Martha" (Davis) Lamb near Nelson. She attended Grand Prairie School and graduated from Nelson High School in 1945. On July 7, 1945, she married Earl A. Lanham in Mankato, Kan. They farmed near Nora for a short time before moving to Nora. They lived there for 40 years until retiring in 1988 and moving to Nelson. On July 3, 1994, her husband died. She lived at The Kensington in Hastings for one year, then moved back to Nelson.
She was a member of Nora United Methodist Church and Nora United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of Nora Women's Club and the Nelson VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors are one daughter, Marcia Drudik of rural Nelson; three sons, Alan L. of Ravenna, Michael E. of Oxford and Kenneth W. of Lancaster, Calif.; one brother, Burton of Osceola; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Memorials have been established and may be sent in care of the family.

Hastings resident Mary Cornelius, 88, of Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Villa Grace.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Harold Stromer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Book registration is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Miss Cornelius was born April 26, 1911, to Dirck and Katharine (Albers) Cornelius in Adams County. She lived in Adams County all her life except for six years spent in California.
She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and did volunteer work there.
Survivors are two sisters, Mattie Hein of San Diego and Katharine Kucera of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Robert A. Rupprecht

Campbell resident Robert A. Rupprecht, 78, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Grandview Manor Nursing Home in Campbell.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Campbell with the Rev. Bill Caughey officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Willie Fierstein Post No. 169 of Campbell will be in the church cemetery. Campbell Funeral Home of Campbell is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rupprecht was born Sept. 13, 1921, to George F. and Catherine B. (Burg) Rupprecht in Campbell. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1939. From 1942-46 he served in the U.S. Army with the 233rd Anti-Aircraft Division during World War II. On Feb. 11, 1949, he married Janette C. Rasmussen in Minden.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Willie Fierstein Post No. 169 in Campbell.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Mike of Red Cloud and Jeff of Hildreth; three daughters, Kathy Campbell of Eagen, Minn., and Lori Sirek and Jeanne Jons, both of Minden; two sisters, Shirley Christiansen of Minden and Dorothy Meyer of Hastings; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be given to the church or the family's choice.
