Mathilda 'Tillie' Bohling

Hebron resident Mathilda "Tillie" (Meyer) Bohling, 87, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Hebron.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron with the Rev. Bruce Berggren officiating. Burial will be in the Chester City Cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Price Funeral Home in Hebron and two hours prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Bohling was born Sept. 24, 1912, to Hermann and Louise (Kraft) Meyer in Chester. She attended country school District No. 95. She then moved with her parents to Stoddard where she attended District No. 100 and later, Hebron High School. On Sept. 15, 1932, she married Emil W. Bohling in Byron. They lived near Chester until 1941 when they moved to Stoddard where she worked part-time at the Farmer's State Bank. They lived there for 34 years before returning to Chester in 1975. She was a nurse's aide for 13 years at Thayer County Memorial Hospital. In 1992 she and her husband moved to Hebron. Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, Virgil of Pickrell; one daughter, Bonnie J. Bargen of Nora; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald; one brother; and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Eleanor E. Galvin

Former Hastings resident Eleanor E. Galvin, 88, of Eureka Springs, Ark., died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Eureka Springs.
Memorial services are Tuesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral in Hastings. Burial will be in Red Wing, Minn. Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Galvin was born Nov. 20, 1911, to Benjamin and Emeline (Kowitz) Gorton in Minneapolis, Minn. She was a long time resident of Hastings and worked for several fashion stores there.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral. She was active in the Morning and Visitor's Guild, Al Anon and a volunteer for RSVP.
Survivors are one son, Terry of Omaha, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
Earl H. "Mike" Treddenbarger

Franklin resident Earl H. "Mike" Treddenbarger, 83, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Hutchins Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with the Rev. Russell Malchow officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday and 8 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Franklin.
Mr. Treddenbarger was born Sept. 10, 1915, at Franklin to Earl H. and Katherine (Sturdevant) Treddenbarger. He attended school in Franklin, graduating from Franklin High School in 1934. On May 15, 1949, he married Wilma Crosby in Riverton. He retired in 1988 from the Nebraska Highway Department after 27 years of service.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Franklin. He served as a Boy Scout leader and a school crossing guard for many years. He volunteered for 27 years at Franklin baseball, basketball and football games. In 1976 he received the Good Neighbor Citation from the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Ralph G. of Arizona; one daughter, Dorothy Mann of Vancouver, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Carla Jean Warriner of Lancaster, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and four sisters.
Mildred C. Schroeder

Davenport resident Mildred C. (Ahrens) Schroeder, 81, died Thursday, May 6, 1999, in Deshler.
A memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Deshler with the Rev. John Cotton officiating. The body will be cremated. There will be a private burial. Urbauer-Price Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schroeder was born May 14, 1917, to Walter and Minnie Ahrens in Alexander, Iowa. She married Norbert Schroeder. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, LWML, Davenport Women's Club, Extension Club and Seward-Concordia Guild.
Survivors are her husband of Davenport; one son, Roger Schroeder of Davenport; two daughters, LoNeal Beck and Lynn Gibson, both of Strang; one brother, Don Ahrens of Latimer, Iowa; one sister, Arline Mussman of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant son, Leon; one infant daughter, Carol; son, Ronald; and one brother.
Memorials have been established.
Velma Simmons

Former Red Cloud resident Velma Simmons, 88, of Clark, Mo., died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Moberly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Moberly, Mo.
Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Red Cloud Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Eldred officiating. Simonsen-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Simmons was born April 19, 1911, to Berdette and Nancy (Davis) Eldred in Smith County, Kan.
She married Howard Simmons on July 26, 1934, in Red Cloud. He died Jan. 21, 1984.
She was a retired cook from Red Cloud Public School.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Simmons of Clark, Mo.; a brother, Berdette Eldred of Red Cloud; a sister, Marjorie Shull of Myrtle Point, Ore., and five grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Alyce Hilburn, and a brother, Duane Eldred.
Lawrence O. Albers

Hastings resident Lawrence O. Albers, 83, of 601 East C St., died Monday, May 24, 1999, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with Pastor David Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery near Ayr. Visitation is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Albers was born Sept. 17, 1915, to Elmer and Evelyn (Boudreau) Albers in Campbell. In 1933, he graduated from Campbell High School. After high school he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps. On Jan. 6, 1940, he married Helen Tucker. They lived in Cheyenne, Wyo., from 1940-47 and then moved to Hastings. He was owner of Albers Auto Service for 50 years.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Optimist Club, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Hastings Museum.
Survivors are four daughters, Paula Albers of Missoula, Mont., Jennifer Albers of Bloomington, Ill., and Shelley Albers and Glenda Albers, both of Hastings; one son, Dennis of Sonora, Calif.; one sister, June Johnson of Harvard; one brother, Roy of Sebring, Fla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Larry; one brother; and one sister.
A memorial will be established.

Red Cloud resident Jane C. (Peterson) Tobler, 89, died Saturday, May 22, 1999, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Red Cloud Cemetery with the Rev. Alvin E. Trucano officiating. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tobler was born Oct. 13, 1909, to Jacob and Irevenia (Lepley) Peterson in Hastings. In 1928 she graduated from Red Cloud High School. She attended Hastings Business College for two years. On Sept. 10, 1939, she married Sidney L. Tobler. They lived in Red Cloud where she owned the Webster County Abstract Co. and Insurance. She also was city clerk for more than 30 years. Her husband died April 15, 1983.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Charity Chapter No. 47, both in Red Cloud.
Survivor is one son, Glen of Omaha.

"Al" Foote, 81, of Sun City, Ariz., who died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, in Sun City, are 10:30 a.m. Friday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney with the Rev. C.J. Willis officiating. Private burial will be prior to the service in the Kearney Cemetery. The remains were cremated.

Sutton resident Mildred A. (Lichty) Freese, 95, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Sutton Community Home of Sutton.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dorr Funeral Home chapel in Falls City with the Rev. Bill Jarine officiating. Eastern Star services will be by Falls City Chapter No. 225. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery in Falls City.
Mrs. Freese was born April 2, 1904, to Frank S. and Edna Bernice (Harkins) Lichty near Falls City. In 1921 she graduated from Falls City High School. She attended Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio for two years. On Aug. 9, 1923, she married Harold H. "Toby" Freese in Falls City. They lived in Medina, Ohio, and Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Falls City in 1925. They owned and operated Toby's Market in Falls City. In 1945 they moved to Omaha. She was associated with her husband in businesses he owned and operated. In 1965 her husband retired and they spent their winters in Harlingen, Texas, for 10 years. They lived in Hastings for a few years. In 1993 they moved to Sutton. Her husband died Feb. 18, 1993.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Harlingen; Narciss Chapter No. 269, Order of the Eastern Star of Omaha; Naamah Temple No. 108, Daughters of the Nile of Hastings; past mother adviser for Rainbow Girls; Benson Diana Assembly No. 2 of Omaha; and past president of Women's Fellowship at St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Omaha.
Survivors are one daughter, Kathleen Wach of Sutton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dona Lee Freese; one son, Harold Freese; one brother; one sister; and one grandson.
Ted W. Currey

Belvidere resident Ted William Currey, 55, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at Bryan LGH Medical Center West in Lincoln.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Sheehy officiating. Inurment will follow at a later date. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Currey was born July 22, 1943, to Myron and Maxine (Pepperl) Currey in Belvidere. He attended Belvidere Public School until the eighth grade. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1961. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. On April 22, 1963, he married Diane McKenzie at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He began farming at an early age and farmed independently throughout Thayer and Fillmore counties, including a large part of Bruning Air Base for many years. In 1983 he became manager of Mid-America Feed Years in Ohiowa. In 1988 he began managing Southwest Feedyard of Hayes Center and helped manage the Cheyenne County Feedyard in Goodland, Kan. In 1993 he began Southwest Cattle Finance, which he ran from an office in Fairbury.
He was a member of the Congregational Church in Belvidere until 1963 when he became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a lector in the church and was a fourth-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors are his wife; his mother of Hebron; one son, Richard of Omaha; two daughters, Elizabeth "Buffy" Frazier of St. Louis and Carmen Zalman of Lincoln; one sister, Peggy Meerse of Fredonia, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Hebron Seacrest Library.
Darleen R. Bascombe

Former Mankato, Kan., resident Darleen R. (Sorrells) Bascombe, 59, of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Mankato with the Rev. Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
Mrs. Bascombe was born Aug. 17, 1939, to Nelson and Doris (Atkins) Sorrells in Blair, Okla. She moved to Wichita in the early 1940s and to Mankato in 1950. In 1957 she graduated from Mankato High School. She attended Fort Hays State University and Manhattan Bible College. In 1966 she married Harlan Bascombe. For 19 years she operated a day care center in Wichita. She was also a manager for Derby 1 Stops, Town and Country, and Total Petroleum convenience stores, all of Wichita.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mankato and Mid-American Artist and Crafter of Wichita.
Survivors are her husband; her father of Mankato; one adopted daughter, Lydia Castillo of Wichita; and one adopted son, Anthony Castillo of Wichita.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Mankato.
