Samuel V. Hohenfield

Former Bladen resident Samuel Valentine Hohenfield, 76, of Hawarden, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at his home.
Prayer services are 7 p.m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hogan Bremmer Colonial Chapel in Mason City, Iowa, with Richard Davis and Bryan Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation begins noon Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hohenfield was born Feb. 14, 1923, to Rudy and Helen (Runge) Hohenfield in Beatrice. He moved to Mason City at age 14 and worked on the Roosevelt School. He spent two years working for C.C. Camp in Bancroft, Iowa, and worked for 10 years at the packing plant in Mason City. He was employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings for two years before working for Burlington Northern, Chicago Northwestern and Milwaukee railroads for 33 years. He lived in Burt, Iowa, and Bladen. He moved to Hawarden in 1989.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors are one son, Michael of Bladen; one brother, Donald "Butch" of Rockford, Ill.; six sisters, Eylenne Redman, Loretta Schultz, Geraldine Bramson and Lois Beery, all of Mason City, Vera Husak of Mankato, Minn., and Virginia Thomas of Rantoul, Ill.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Milton L. Nowka

Hastings resident Milton L. Nowka, 72, of 1306 N. St. Joseph Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Hastings with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Nowka was born April 13, 1927, to Martin and Wilma (Brown) Nowka in rural Hall County. He graduated in 1945 from Trumbull High School. He then served in the U.S. Army until 1946. On Sept. 21, 1949, he married Charlene Perry. She died Nov. 27, 1990. On Feb. 1, 1992, he married Bonnie Archer Donner. He retired from farming this year.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and served as chairman of the board, chairman of the elders and several other positions. He was a member of the State and Adams County Farm Bureau and served on the Trumbull Co-op board.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Lynette Riggs of Amarillo, Texas, and Shereen Shafer of Hastings; one son, Trent of Lincoln; one stepson, Joshua Donner of Hastings; his mother of Hastings; one sister, Mildred Niederhaus of Hastings; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
Virginia 'Kay' Webber

Inavale resident Virginia "Kay" (Edgar) Dilley Webber, 59, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. Tim Veazey officiating. Burial will be in Cora Cemetery north of Lebanon, Kan. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Webber was born June 8, 1940, to Verle and Elsie (Schriner) Edgar in Smith County, Kan. She attended rural school district No. 18 in Franklin County and Franklin High School. On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Gerold Dean Dilley in Franklin County. They lived at Hastings until 1969, when they moved to the Red Cloud area. Her husband died Nov. 18, 1980. On Feb. 25, 1989, she married Marvin Webber. They lived at Inavale. She worked for many years at the Red Cloud Coast-to-Coast Store and the Palace Lounge. Most recently, she worked as a cook at Sugar 'N Spice Drive-In.
She drove the bus for Senior Citizens and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Debra Klingenberger of Inavale and Nancy Genung of Superior; three sons, Greg Dilley of Phoenix, Keith Dilley of Eau Claire, Wis., and Jason Dilley of Hastings; one stepdaughter, Lisa Russell of Inavale; two stepsons, Les Webber of Shawnee, Kan., and Rick Webber of Smith Center, Kan.; two sisters, Roberta Hoschauer of Westport, Wash., and Regina Simpson of Central City; two brothers, Rodney Edgar of Arnold and Larry Edgar of Guide Rock; five grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother.
A memorial has been established.

Hastings resident Marjorie J. (Madden) Weber, 73, of 1229 Heritage Drive died Monday, March 6, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Private family graveside services were Thursday at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Mrs. Weber was born Jan. 11, 1927, to John and Exzelia (Boudreau) Madden in Manhattan, Kan. She graduated from Manhattan High School. On April 20, 1946, she married Leland O. Weber in Minden. They moved to Hastings from Manhattan in 1947.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, John of Odessa, Texas, and Leland Jr. of Bella Vista, Ark.; one daughter, Virginia Warneking of Hastings; and two grandchildren.
Timna E. Kindsfater

Hastings resident Timna E. (Gross) Kindsfater, 88, of 701 Circle C died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at her home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kindsfater was born Sept. 25, 1911, to Isaac and Elizabeth (Schiffler) Gross in Roseland. She graduated from Roseland High School, then attended Hastings College and worked at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. She married George Kindsfater on March 10, 1935, in Hastings. He died Dec. 9, 1968. She was a longtime Hastings Tribune employee.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are two daughters, Marlys Martson of Hastings and Carol Probst of Kirkwood, Mo.; two sons, Marvin of Hastings and Gilbert of Kearney; one sister, Lois Zoss of Metamora, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Eldon; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church or the family's choice.
Lester W. Shriver

Hastings resident Lester W. Shriver, 90, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at North Shore Assembly of God with the Rev. Dr. Solomon Wang officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Shriver was born April 12, 1909, to John W. and Roxy (VanMatre) Shriver in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School. He married Margaretta McDade on Sept. 10, 1933. She died March 12, 1973. He married Jane Bramman on Jan. 12, 1974. She died June 1, 1990. He was a farmer.
He was a member of North Shore Assembly of God and Full Gospel Businessmen.
Survivors are two sons, Edwin of Lincoln and David of Omaha; one brother, James of Hastings; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the North Shore Assembly of God Building Fund.

Edgar resident Frances M. (Portman) Larson, 79, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Edgar.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home chapel in Edgar with the Rev. Harold Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.
Mrs. Larson was born July 14, 1920, to Floyd and Nellie Portman in Guide Rock. She worked as a bookkeeper for the NBC Bank in Lincoln for almost 15 years. On Jan. 29, 1963, she married Cecil Larson in Lincoln. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are one son, Thomas Hadley of Tempe, Ariz.; four sisters, Barbara Campbell of Lincoln, Ilah Rae of Benton, Ariz., Dorothy Wheeler of Largo, Fla., and Nadine Newman of Bandera, Texas; one brother, Floyd of Bandera; and two grandchildren.

Franklin resident David "Joey" Albers, 43, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at his home.
Private family services are Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin with the Rev. Bruce Crabtree officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin.
Mr. Albers was born April 27, 1956, to Wayne and Ruth (Dittrick) Albers in Minden. He lived with his parents northwest of Bloomington until moving to Franklin in 1994.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his parents of Franklin; two sisters, Rebecca Conway of Hastings and Kimberly Albers of Arlington, Texas; and two brothers, Michael of Omaha and Robert of Hastings.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Bladen with the Rev. Baldeo Singh officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Bladen. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Mr. Stoughton was born May 23, 1917, to Thomas and Anna (Tucker) Stoughton in Bladen. He graduated from Bladen High School. On Nov. 6, 1937, he married Dorothy Kottwitz. He worked for Bladen Sand & Gravel Co. for more than 40 years and retired in 1982. He and his wife moved to Hastings in 1997.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Webster County Fair Board.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Delores Meyer of Roseland, Sharon Fraser of Hastings and Donna Hoevet of Ord; three sisters, Margaret Schrader of Lee Summit, Mo., Leone Kaufman of Aurora and Pauline Brouillette of Hastings; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.

Mrs. Witt was born June 3, 1915, to Joseph and Edith (Perryman) Hendrickson in Carleton. On Sept. 18, 1933, she married Delbert Witt.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Dennis of Gold River, Calif., Joseph of Potomac Island, Va., and Jerome of Roy, Wash.; one daughter, Beverly Johnson of Shickley; two brothers, James of Beatrice and Robert of Powhatton, Kan.; two sisters, Wilma Gottschalk of Broken Bow and Lila Kempf of Shickley; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
