Lyon -- Clyde D., 86, Seward, died Friday (10/10/2003) . Born, March 6, 1917.

Murphy -- K. Lorraine, 92, Minnesota, died Thursday (10/09/2003) . Lorraine was born Kathryn Lorraine on May 25, 1911, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Nicholas and Mary (Keepers) Adams. Graduated with the class of 1929 from Pemberton High School in Minnesota. Lorraine received her nursing training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, graduating in 1933. She worked as a registered nurse in several states and was employed by Queen's Hospital in Honolulu at the time of the Pearl Harbor bombing on Dec. 7, 1941. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a lieutenant aboard a hospital ship, the USS Marigold, which operated in the European and Pacific theaters. On Aug. 1, 1950, she married Donal W. Murphy at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Mapleton, Minn. They lived on a farm north of Pemberton, Minn., until his death in 1985.
Survivors: daughters, son-in-law, Mary Koranda, Ames, Iowa, Cynthia and John Beckwith, Lincoln; brother, sister-in-law, Laurence and Marguerite Adams, Maryland; sister, Eileen Adams, Minnesota; grandchildren, spouse, Sean and Jacqueline Mc Elvy, Stephen II, Scott, Anthony Koranda, Jason, Kathryn Lorraine, Peter Beckwith; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, three sisters, five brothers, two grandchildren.
Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Monday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair, Minn. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, Mankato, Minn; one hour prior to services, the church. Rosary service: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, funeral home.

Rauner -- Kevin James, 21, Lincoln, died Wednesday (10/8/2003) .

Reiss, Miracle L. Reiss; sister, Ann L'Heureux, Overland Park, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by first husband, Raymond McShane.

Richards -- Mary Virginia, 77, Donna, Texas, died July 20, 2003, in McAllen, Texas.

Scheve -- Neva R., 84, Adams, formerly Plymouth, died Thursday (10/9/2003) . Born, Virginia (1/10/19). Graduated from Virginia HighSchool, 1935; attended Hays StateTeacher College, summer 1935. Became an assistant at the Citizens State Bank of Virginia and worked there six years. Attended Peru State Teachers college. Taught school in Virginia, one year; Summerfield, Kansas, one year. married Harlan on June 19, 1941, Zion Lutheran Church, Harbine. Lived on a farm southeast of Plymouth until retiring, 1980. Employed: Hesteds; Three Sisters Dress Shop; Tempo in Beatrice as a cashier, bookkeeper. Member: Lutheran Women's Missionary League as an officer at the local and district levels. Started the Braille Center at the church. Enjoyed family, grandchildren, reading and sewing.
Survivors: son, Cecil, Jansen; daughters, son-in-law, Lois Scheve,Lincoln, Carolyn and Arthur Pacha, Beatrice; four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; sister, Ardene Moch, Pawnee City; brother, sister-in-law, Russell and Norma Mittan, Wymore; sister-in-law, Della Hohbein, Lincoln; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents, Clyde R. and MayBelle (Ayre) Mittan; husband, Harlan, Aug. 26, 2003; son, Larry Lee; granddaughter, Stacy Pacha Schmitt; brother, Kenneth Mittan; sister-in-law, Verna Mittan; brother-in-law, Emil Moch.

Preceded in death by parents, Jake and Lillie (Stauffer) Springer; sister-in-law, Vera Springer.

Stevens -- Harold M., 85, Lexington, died Thursday (10/9/2003) in Kearney. Born, Madrid (4/13/18) to Joseph Morgan and Elsie Browitt Stevens. A University of Nebraka graduate in vocational education and animal science in 1943. He married Virginia Smith July 23, 1943, at Lamar. Stevens served two years as a vocational agriculture instructor at Sargent. He then served as NU extension agent chairman in Dawson County from 1945 until his retirement in 1987. The Dawson County 4-H program, under his leadership, was a leader in livestock judging and exhibits in Nebraska for many years. Educational programs during his tenure in Dawson County included: advances in alfalfa production; development of water resources and policy; the windbreak "living snow fence" concept; and helping people to help themselves through the 4-H and adult programs. He conducted 104 educational water tours. Among more than 50 awards and honors received included: induction into the National 4-H Hall of Fame; induction into the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement; U.S. Department of Agriculture Superior Service Award; and the Nebraskaland Foundation Pioneer Award, presented at the Capitol.
Survivors: wife, Virginia, Lexington; daughter, Georgia L. Stevens, Lincoln; son, daughter-in-law, James M. and Linda, Greenwood Village, Colo.; grandchildren, spouse, Stephanie, Michael Neruda, Stanford, Calif., Perry Stevens, Chicago, Quinn J. Stevens and Roxanne Baca, Denver; sister, brother-in-law, Dorothy Stevens and Earl Beeler, Holdrege; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Smith Weiss, Imperial, Lillian Smith Kuhlman, Rock Rapids, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
Services: 2 p.m. today, United Methodist Church, Lexington. The Rev. Todd Karges. Cremation; no visitation. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, to: the University of Nebraska Foundation for the Harold and Virginia Stevens scholarship; Lexington Community Foundation; or the Lexington United Methodist Church.
