Jones -- L. Russell, 95, Kirkland, Wash., formerly Lincoln, Grand Island, died July 30, 2003, in Kirkland, where he and his wife, Margaret, lived since 1999. Born, Denison, Iowa (9/18/07), to John Phillip and Jane Birney Jones. Lived in Denison through high school. Earned a Bachelor of Arts in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska. married Dorothy Evers Jones (4/5/31). She passed away in 1969. He and Margaret Hervey Jones were married (4/11/71) until her death last year.
His career was with the Nebraska Department of Roads for 47 years; he retired in 1972. Lived in Grand Island for 30 years, where he was state district engineer, then returned to Lincoln in 1968. Active member, First-Plymouth Congregational Church, Tower Club, Capital City Kiwanis and as an adviser to his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha.
Survivors: son, Jaret, Cheyenne, Wyo.; stepson, David Hervey, Clyde Hill, Wash.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
