Graduate, Lincoln High School; second team, All-State High School Football; five-sport letterman; inducted into Lincoln High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Veteran, Korean War, U.S. Marine Corps, San Diego. Played in two All-Navy football championships, at Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles Coliseum. Attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. Coached Lincoln Midget Football for 20 years. Lifelong outdoorsman. Member, American Legion; VFW.

Garman -- Earl Martin, 97, Rochester, N.Y., died Aug. 4, 2003. Born in Clearmont, Mo., in 1906. He moved to Chicago at the age of 19; for the next 46 years he was employed by the Martin-Senour Paint Co., where he advanced from office boy to treasurer and then secretary after studying accounting at Northwestern University. "Retiring"in 1971, he then worked for H&R Block for several years and served out the unexpired term of treasurer for the City of Park Ridge, Ill., 1972-1973, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Episcopal Church before relocating to the Rochester area in 2000.
Survivors: daughter, son-in-law, Kathleen Ann and J. John Uebel, Pittsford, N.Y.; grandchildren, spouses, Virginia and Philip Ingram, Henrietta, N.Y., John William and Veronica, San Diego, Calif., Mark Alan and Karen, Raleigh, N.C.; two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Grace Ingram; nieces and nephews and their families in the Midwest. Predeceased by his father, Lee Garman; mother, Harriett (Burch) Garman; first wife of 46 years, Harriett (Bentley) in 1980; his second wife of 11 years, Elizabeth (Eliason) in 1993; a son, William Earl, in 1959; five brothers; one sister.
Memorial services commemorating his life will be held Saturday (8/16/2003) at 2 p.m. at Mt. Rise United Church in Perinton, N.Y. Memorial Park Cemetery, Evanston, Ill. at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Levin -- Herbert, 87, Houston, a friend to all who knew him, died Saturday (8/9/2003) . His great sense of humor and kindness and concern for his family and friends will be missed. Born in Houston in 1915, he was a resident of Texas City for 72 years where he and his brothers, Jimmie Levin and Bernard Levin, owned and operated the Pick `n Pay Super Market. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Elsie, and his grandson, Ronald Brochstein.
