Krhounek -- Ann, 73, Lincoln, died Saturday (5/3/2003) . Former administrative clerk, state of Nebraska Department of Labor. Member, St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Altar Society, Ladies of the Eucharist, school volunteer for eight years at Cathedral of the Risen Christ.

Salem -- Charles G., 86, Lincoln, widower of Olive(Van Boskirk)Salem, died Monday (4/28/2003) . Born, Lincoln (11/9/16) to Charles M. and Hazel (Molberg) Salem. A Lincoln resident all his life, "Charley" graduated from Lincoln High School in 1934 and attended four years at the University of Nebraska. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II and later as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserves.
Charley started Salem Oil Co., a distributor for Amoco and Quaker State Oil companies, in 1957, and he was a founder of First Security Bank. He served in the petroleum industry as a president and director of local, state and national organizations, including heading the political action committee of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, which in 1990 honored him with its Distinguished Service Award.
He served as president of the Cedars Home for Children board of directors, as fund-raiser for the Nebraska Cerebral Palsy Association and as a board member of the Federal Emergency Management Administration. Charley was a Mason (32nd degree), and a member of the Sertoma Club and of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors: children, spouses, Chuck and Sherene, Dick and Allison, all Lincoln, Deborah and Jim Menze, Emporia, Kansas, Christine Salem, Santa Fe, N.M.; brother, sister-in-law, Byron and Inez Salem, Phoenix; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife; parents.
Private family graveside services. A reception for friends and family will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Nebraska Club, 2000 First Tier Bank Building (13 and M streets). Memorials, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer's Association c/o Charley Salem, 5601 S. 27th St., Lincoln 68512.

Sohl -- Wayne Aaron, 76, Lincoln, died Wednesday (4/30/2003) . Lifelong Lincoln resident. Graduated from Lincoln High School, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended the University of Nebraska. He retired from Minnegasco in 1986, after 38 years. He was a founding member of KAL, Inc., a utility operations service company, and remained an active partner until his death. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church his entire life, the Lincoln Engineers Club, American Legion Post 3, and the National Milk Glass Collectors Society. He was a founding member of the Omaha section of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, serving as both section and regional chairman and regional trustee. In 1986, he received the group's National Distinguished Member Award.
Survivors: wife, Mary Jean (Hill), Lincoln; sons, daughters-in-law, Jim and Ruth, Chandler, Ariz., David and Joyce, Lincoln; daughter, son-in-law, Carol and Terry Keown, Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren, Aaron and Eva Sohl, Lincoln, Katelin and Benjamin Keown, Prescott, Ariz., Tony Sohl, Chandler, Ariz. Preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Mabel (Fauss) Sohl; brothers, Stanley, Lowell.

Aden -- Robert L., 84, Sioux Falls, S.D., died Thursday, (4/17/2003) at Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage. Born, Lincoln (8/28/18) to Habe and Mildred (Pester) Aden. Attended school in Omaha through the seventh grade. In 1931, the family moved to Sioux Falls. Robert completed high school at Washington High in 1937 and spent his freshman college year at USC then transferred to the University of Nebraska and completed a master's degree in 1942. Served two years in Pearl Harbor during World War II, U.S. Navy
married Marion Cramer in 1941. They were the parents of two children, Scott and Nancy. married Kathryn Hyde in late 1971. She died in 1999. Robert remained active in community affairs and played tennis twice weekly with his "old" tennis buddies at Woodlake Racquet Club. He moved to Waterford at All Saints and remained there until his death.
Survivors: children, Scott Aden, Boston, Nancy Aden-Fox, Lincoln; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Elizabeth; stepchildren, Todd Hyde, West Des Moines, Iowa, Lynne Curtis, Prescott, Ariz., Bill Hyde, Storm Lake, Iowa; five step-grandchildren.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. today, the chapel at Waterford at All Saints. Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church.
