Roger Lee Ockinga
1958-2004
Roger Lee Ockinga, 45, Hastings, Neb., died Saturday, Sept. 11 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln. His funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ with Ken Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings at a later date.
Livingston Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials have been established to the Roger Ockinga Memorial Fund.
Roger was born Nov. 30, 1958 in Hastings, the son of Vern C. and Ruth L. (Asmus) Ockinga. He graduated from Adams Central High School in 1977 and also from Central Community College in Hastings.
Roger married Georgette K. Saali on Feb. 19, 1984.
He was an engineer at the Hastings Regional Center and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, west of Glenvil, Neb.
Survivors include his wife, Georgette Ockinga of Hastings; sister, Sharon and husband Don Hachtel of Hastings; aunt, Doris Thomas of Sidney; sisters-in-law and spouses, Sue and Mike White of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Marion and Dave Meadows of Denver, Colo.; three nieces and one nephew.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Ockinga.

Ann J. Hahne
1908-2004
Ann J. Hahne, 96, died Saturday, Sept. 11. at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Neb. Her funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Revs. Dr. William Deahl and Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.

Ann was born May 22, 1908 in Sidney, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Smidl) Oliverius. She graduated from Sunol consolidated school, Sidney, and moved to Hastings in 1927 to attend Hastings Business College.
Ann married Gordon W. Hahne on Dec. 14, 1930.
She worked in the bakery at Hillcrest Jack & Jill grocery story from 1968-1983. After retiring, Ann worked at Gingerbread preschool as a foster grandmother.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Gary and wife Nancy Hahne of Hastings, Duane and wife Phyllis Hahne of Hastings and Donald and Paula Hahne of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon in 1978; four brothers and three sisters.

Ellen Larson
Ellen Larson, 57 of Sidney died early Sunday morning, September 19 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place and service arrangements are pending at the Holechek Funeral Home.

Diane Yahn
1952-2004
Diane Yahn, 52, of Sidney died Friday morning, September 17 at her home in Sidney.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., today at Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Kelvin Boltjes of the Foursquare Church officiating.
Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Memorial Health Center Hospice.
Diane Lynola Yahn, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Odessa (Williamson) David was born August 22, 1952 at Greeley, Colo. She grew up and attended school in Torrington, Wyoming and after high school attended college in Torrington. She was active as a 4-H Leader in Goshen County Wyoming for 16 years.
On May 28, 1998 she was united in marriage to Dick Yahn in Sidney. They made their home in Sidney where she was active with 4-H for three years and was a Para-professional in the Sidney Elementary Schools for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Dick Yahn of Sidney; her children: Lynola Sanger of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Rebecca and husband Mike Christofferson of Sidney, Charles Sanger of Polson, Mont., Jeff Yahn of Sidney, and Debbie and husband Luke Altwine of Pierce, Neb.; two brothers: Johnny Green of Galton, Colo. and Melvin Lee Green of Torrington, Wyo.; two sisters: Yvonne Hopp of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Linda Harshberger of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren: Zion, Zack and Kidron Lee; Kaneisha, Keanu, Troy and Kaleb Christofferson and Madison Altwine and several nieces and nephews.

Jessie Elizabeth Sanders
1912-2004
Jessie Elizabeth (Eckert) Sanders, 91, died September 19 at Heritage Healthcare in Gering after suffering a stroke two weeks ago.
Services will be held Thursday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Amos Harris and Doug Jones officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Sanders family cemetery, west of Dalton at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 23, and Pastor Rick Parker will officiate.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 22 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Evangelical Church or Camp Rock. Tributes may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Jessie was born November 9, 1912 in her grandparent’s home in Morrill County southwest of present-day Bridgeport. She was the second daughter of Sam and Tempie (Broughton) Eckert. She grew up on a farm west of Dalton with the exception of a short time living in Cedaredge, Colo.
She graduated from Dalton High School in 1929 and attended Chadron State College two years. She taught school in Cheyenne County three years before marrying Vernon “Bus” Sanders in Kimball, May 29, 1934. They lived on their farm homesteaded by her uncle, John Eckert, until moving to Bridgeport in 1950. They lived in town during the school year and went back to the farm in the summer.
After her children were raised, Jessie went back to college to get her degree and taught in Bridgeport, District 5 in Morrill County and Potter, where she taught until retirement. As a teacher she touched the lives of many students.
She was a charter resident at the Village at Regional West and had lived there for 13 years. She is survived by her children: Ronald Sanders and wife Sue of Yakima, Wash.; Jane Vick and husband Roy of Scottsbluff; Lyle Sanders and wife Joy of Bridgeport; Max Sanders and wife Lori of Gering; ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Ada Mae Reiser of Sun Lakes, Ariz. and one sister-in-law, Kathy Eckert of Loveland, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, her parents, four sisters, one brother and one grandson.

Thelma Frerichs
1920-2004
Thelma Frerichs, 84 of rural Lodgepole, Neb. died late Monday evening, September 20 at Beverly Healthcare in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 24 in the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Gurley.
Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery southeast of the church.
Memorials have been established to the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Thelma Amanda Frerichs, the daughter of Fredrick and Edith (Schoof) Rhemer was born July 13, 1920 at home on the family farm near Gurley.
She grew up on the farm and attended school in Gurley.
She was baptized in July of 1920 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Gurley and later was confirmed in the same church.
On June 14, 1942 she was united in marriage to John Henry Frerichs at the Weyerts Immanuel Lutheran Church.
They made their home on a farm near the church. Thelma loved her family and was still active in the family farm operation.
She was an active member of the Weyerts Church and was a member of Mary’s Circle.
Thelma loved her farm and liked to work in the garden. She liked taking care of all her farm animals.
She enjoyed going to senior citizen dances and all of her friends.She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include six sons: Virgil and wife Judy Frerichs, Lloyd Frerichs, Fred and wife Charlie Frerichs, Bob and wife Marcia Frerichs and John and wife Adriane Frerichs all of Lodgepole and Jerry and wife Helen Frerichs of Chappell; one daughter, Betty and husband Joseph McMahon of Chappell; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, five brothers: Albert, Fred, Herman, Emil and Edward Rhemer; two sisters: Emma Klug and Ella Rhemer; and one daughter-in-law, Destiny Frerichs.

Wendy Joy Colton
1966-2004
Wendy Joy Colton, 38, Lincoln, died Saturday Sept. 18, 2004 at her home in Lincoln after battling melanoma cancer for three years. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln. Wyuka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to M. D. Andersen Cancer Fund in c/o Carol Williams, 10167 U.S. Hwy. 30, Sidney, NE 69162.
Wendy was born March 19, 1966, the daughter of Wayne and Carol (Gage) Williams. She started school in Broken Bow, Neb.. In 1972 she moved with her family to a farm west of Sidney. There she attended Brownson Grade School and Sidney Junior High, graduating from Sidney High School in 1984.
Wendy then attended Mid-Plains College in North Platte, Neb., returning to Sidney and was employed at the Sidney Telegraph. in 1988, Wendy came to Lincoln where she was employed at Woodmen Accident and Life Insurance Company. During this time, she took night classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1998.
Following graduation, she worked at Cushman until its closing.
Wendy married Michael Colton in 2000. She was a very loving, kind and generous person.
Survivors include her husband, Michael; son, Christopher; parents, Carol and Wayne Williams of Sidney; sister, Kimberly and husband Kennen Christensen of North Platte; parents-in-law, Pat and Larry Colton of Lincoln; one nephew and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Elmo Roe Wilt
1920-2004
Elmo Wilt, 84, a long-time Sunol resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at Memorial Health Center Extended Care in Sidney. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lodgepole. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Frances DeBrunner American Legion Post #286.
Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or MHC Extended Care.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Elmo Roe Wilt, the son of Cary Lee and May Anna (Scheck) Wilt, was born Aug. 22, 1920 in Diller, Neb. He moved with his family to a farm in the Sunol community when he was two-years-old. His family later moved to Sunol where Elmo graduated from Sunol High School in 1939.
During WW II, he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp in the China-Burma-India Theatre in Calcutta, India. Elmo was honorably discharged in 1946.
After the war he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad from 1946 to 1948. He was then employed by the Sunol School District as a bus driver and janitor for 44 years.
Elmo was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his two sisters, Dorothy Emanuelson, residing at MHC Extended Care in Sidney and Arlene Tank of Sidney; one brother, Donald Wilt and wife Maxine of Williston, N.D.; one sister-in-law, Eleanor (Phelps) Wilt of Torrington, Wyo. and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eileen Wilt and Fern White and husband Harold; two brothers, Ray Wilt and Max Wilt and wife Edna and two brothers-in-law, Loyal Tank and George Emanuelson.
