Hubert LeZotte
OGALLALA - Hubert O. LeZotte, 83, of Ogallala died May 28, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1918, at Beaver Crossing to Hugh A. and Suzie A. Cross LeZotte. He graduated in 1935 from Ogallala High School.

On Dec. 24, 1941, he married Margaret G. Kenfield.

For many years, Mr. LeZotte was a well-known photographer in Ogallala and the surrounding area.

Surviving him is his wife; a daughter, Sandra K. (James) Amos of Tecumseh; a son, Robert G. (Pam) of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Darin R. LeZotte of Lincoln, David J. (Stacey) Amos of Lexington and Mark A. and Erin L. Amos, both of Tecumseh.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Norris officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with Masonic rites graveside.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Gubser Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Steven G. Lorenzen
NORFOLK - Steven G. Lorenzen, 51, formerly of North Platte, died May 29, 2001, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk due to an illness.

He was born July 7, 1949, in Fremont to Gail and Darlene Franke Lorenzen. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1967. He attended Norfolk Junior College and Chadron State College.

He was a telecommunications technician for AT&T in Omaha. He lived in Denver and Phoenix before moving to North Platte, where he worked for Ross Perry Motors for eight years.

Mr. Lorenzen was employed by Kooi Communications in Norfolk at the time of his death.

He is survived by his daughter Ashley of Omaha, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.

Owen K. Meredith
GOTHENBURG - Owen K. Meredith, 81, of Gothenburg died May 28, 2001, at Hilltop Estates.

He was born Oct. 7, 1919, at Oazwkie, Kan., to Nathan and Zella Metzger Meredith. He served in the Army during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead.

He lived in the Topeka, Kan., area until 1956, when his work took him many places in Kansas and to Scott City, Kan., where his children were raised. He moved to Hastings in 1968 and to Gothenburg in 1979.

In August 1945, he married Margaret McDonald at Valley Falls, Kan. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1977.

On June 17, 1979, he married Marguerite Monroe in Hastings.

Mr. Meredith was co-owner of Gothenburg Irrigation for many years. They lived at Jeffrey Lake for many years, where he enjoyed all his friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Leavenworth, Kan.

Surviving him is his wife, Marguerite; a daughter, Bettie Mead of Lincoln; two sons, Ken (Judy) of Omaha and Ron (Marianne) of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Wanda Valdez of Fort Worth, Texas, Oleta Vaughan of Hannibal, Mo., and Vonna Lee Tice of Kansas City, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Betty (Bill) Denise of Yuma, Ariz.; a stepson, Don (Nancy) Sitorius of Brady; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandsons; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Freel; and two brothers, Orval and Gerald.

Memorials are suggested to the WWII Memorial in Washington.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating.

Inurnment will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with military honors by the Gothenburg Firing Squad.

Visitation for memorial book signatures will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Lois F. Paxton
STAPLETON - Lois F. Paxton, 88, died May 27, 2001, at the Callaway Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Oct. 29, 1912, to Glenn and Grace Carpenter Stryker at Rising City. At the age of 7, she moved with her family east of Callaway and then to the Morning Star Community. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Callaway High School in 1932. After taking normal training, she taught school for three years.

On Aug. 25, 1935, she married Donald McFate at the Morning Star and they lived in the Stop Table Community. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Morning Star Church, where she was the pianist for many years. She was a member of the Morning Star Ladies Missionary and the Open Door Extension Club.

On May 28, 1968, she married Kermit Paxton at her home in Stop Table. They lived on his ranch north of Ringgold for four years.

They attended the Hall Community Church before moving just west of Stapleton in 1972, where they attended the Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Paxton was a member of the North Platte Gideon Chapter, the Stapleton Farm Bureau and the Banner Mothers Club.

She is survived by her husband, Kermit; a daughter, Grace Ann Booker of Denver; three stepdaughters, Anna Mae (Lester) Wycoff of Barron, Wis., Joan (Tuck) Farmer and Colleen (Dale) Pettit, all of Tryon; a son, Monte Joe (Madeline) of Callaway; two stepsons, Jim (Bonita) of Hillsdale, Wis., and Leland (LeeAnn) of Stapleton; a sister, Marjorie Bassett of North Platte; two sisters-in-law, Mae Paxton and Fay (Dan) Connell, all of Stapleton; a brother-in-law, Victor (Hazel) Paxton of Stapleton; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Amy, Laura and Fern; and two brothers, Elmo and Billie.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideons International, KJLT Radio Ministry or the donor's choice.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton with the Revs. Donald Stryker and Buddy Scofield officiating. Burial will be in the Stop Table Cemetery southwest of Callaway.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Arnold Funeral Home and from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton.

Arnold Funeral Home of Arnold is in charge.
